Composer and experienced piano teacher David is offering piano lessons for all ages, - particularly interested in new adult students. Complete beginners through to advanced. With over 12 years teaching experience, David's lessons can be tailored to all objectives – with a focus on imparting an understanding of music as a deep language, and on developing a sensitive and powerful technique. In addition to classical piano and, music theory, David can also help you explore simple approaches to begin composing if you with to explore your creative talents. Alternatively, lessons can be approached as therapy (in a non formal sense) and leisure. The focus is classical music and classical methods but we will dive into other styles occasionally if you would like. Majority of sheet music included in the class price. Lessons take place at my place in Ixelles. I may also be able to come to your place depending on location. A very small amount of online students can be accepted to help with accessibility or other reasons. David is represented an Associate Composer of the Australian Music Centre, now working in Brussels. He holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts from the University of Melbourne, performance Diplomas (pianoforte) from the Asssociated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the UK and AMEB in Australia, and recently graduated with high marks from the post-graduate degree programme in Film Scoring and Orchestration at Lisbon's National Academy of Adanced Orchestral Studies (ANSO). Lessons for all ages. Harp, piano, music theory. I graduated from the KMC Gent and have a career/experience of more than 40 years. I also followed yoga, mindfulness and kinesiology courses. The combination of playing an instrument with mindfulness opens up many possibilities. During the lessons for harp or piano you learn the necessary technique, and musicality is taken into account. The better the technical skill, the more fluidly the musicality can unfold. No previous knowledge of ear training is required for the instrument. Gradually you learn to read the notes. For those who wish, I give AMV (General Musical Education) Here you practice extra on reading, rhythm, general & specific hearing exercises, and theoretical knowledge. Those who are going to higher music studies and experience a gap in music theory can come to me for specific training. I also guide students for solfège who are taking their entrance exam for KMC and also during their student trajectory. Here is more explanation. The lessons are individual and adapted to each student. For toddlers aged 4 to 6 who are learning to play the piano, I follow a method based on a musical fairy tale. It is a method that meets the child's world of experience. They discover the possibilities of the instrument and the way of writing songs. Step by step they learn to play and sing songs on the piano. For harp I can advise to start at 6 years. Fingers at 4 years are still too tender to pluck strings. 6 years is a better age to start harp playing. They play on a small instrument that is appropriate for their age. For children who start from the age of 7, I use a different method book for piano and the child's world of experience is also taken into account. For children who start playing the harp at that age, the method book is also aimed at the child. The method books are therefore tailored to the age and capabilities of the child, teenagers and adults. For students at the college who are going to study music professionally, the subject 'music theory' is included in the curriculum. In case of shortcomings in music theory, the specific needs are updated. Both theory, lecture in G and F clef, performance of rhythm in all time signatures, rhythm dictation, intonation training, intonation dictation, recognition of intervals melodic and harmonic, rhythmic-melodic dictation can be updated to make up for deficiencies.
