Jamie - Tallinn47€
Trusted teacher: Hi students and music lovers ! Piano is a fun and rewarding way to explore music for people of all ages, whether you've played music before or not, and is one of the most accessible instruments right from the first lesson! I teach with a variety of pop-transcriptions and easy Classical pieces, simple improvisation and harmony exercises, and am comfortable adapting to each pupils own way of learning. If you're new to piano, or have played before and want to rekindle your love of music, get in touch to arrange a first lesson! I will book us a room with a grand piano at the Academy. I graduated Master’s cum laude in Piano Performance at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre studying with prof. Peep Lassmann, who was himself a student of the great Russian pianist Emil Gilels. I have 12 years' private teaching experience, and was employed by Märjamaa Music and Art School as a 1:1 piano teacher in 2018-19. I also have a BMus (Hons) degree from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and DipABRSM, the standard professional teaching qualification in the UK. Reviews from current students: "Jamie is an amazing teacher. I had no knowledge of piano before him and was worried in general of being able to learn. His way of explaining, patience and incredible passion for music gave me the push to try and are reinforcing my motivation to learn more day-by-day. Our classes are alive, fun, and so much like a continuous journey through all the aspects of piano music." - Angelyk "Jamie makes this comfortable atmosphere, you'll never be afraid to make a mistake. I learned a song already in my second/third lesson. 🙂 " - Taimi

* music theory I specialize in tutoring music theory mostly for beginners, and also for those who want to practice and establish/enhance their intermediate level. I had been teaching music theory and harmony at the Jazeps Medins Music high school in Riga, Latvia. I have experience in private teaching as well as teaching in groups. I prefer to teach in real life (exception could be covid-19 situation, if it gets worse). I am always searching for new ways of how to help with problematic areas of this subject. I am open to alternative and creative ways of teaching music theory. Music theory can be very interesting, and I would be happy to help you find it that way too. :) Also, I am very open to teach music theory basics for people of any age. For example, if you want to play guitar, and you need knowledge of music theory, I would love to help you! * music composition In this class I can help you to create your own compositions. I graduated with my Bachelor of Music in Composition at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music Riga, Latvia. I have been in many masterclasses with different teachers (Andris Dzenitis, Rolands Kronlaks, Janis Petraskevics, Gundega Smite, Yann Robin, Francesco Filidei, Mark Andre, Johannes Maria Staud). Currently I am studying electroacoustic composition at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. In this class, 60 minutes also include analysis of other composers' works. I will show you different music compositions, so you can try to write music in different styles. Mostly, I specialize in academical/contemporary/classical composition, but if you are interested in pop/alternative music genres, it is also possible to find a way how I could help you to create your own music. *please do not hesitate to ask me any questions. also we can discuss the location. It is possible to start from September, because currently I am not in Estonia. We can discuss the dates & times privately depending on my schedule at the university.

Jamie is a very talented pianist, and as such, knows how to spot which aspects you can improve and how. A very creative teacher, he gives valuable advices that can speed up your learning, based on your own strengths and weaknesses. You can't go wrong with this guy, he really lives with music in mind.
