Trusted teacher: My main teaching philosophy is to teach students to play the music they enjoy. It sounds like a no-brainer but I have had teachers in the past who only showed me songs that they enjoyed or used method books that teach you "Mary Had A Little Lamb" or "Hot Crossed Buns" (and if you like those songs then we can learn those). All that to say, whatever the student's goal on the instrument, I will take them step by step until they reach it. For a beginning musician, the fundamentals of the instrument are given the highest priority: how to tune your instrument, names of all the notes, essential chords, basic strumming, playing in time and understanding basic rhythm. For someone who already plays but needs a little help getting out of the rut, we'll spend time fixing bad technical habits, hammering home the fundamentals, expanding their repertoire, and slowly moving outside of the comfort zone to new horizons. With advanced players, listening (ear training), transcribing, song analysis, exploring advanced theory concepts, and focusing on composition and improvisation are most important. With all levels of students, I make playlists that I update after each lesson they can hear real examples of what we are covering, as well as provide detailed written notes in TAB and standard notation so they can refer to everything we covered and know what to practice. Trusted teacher: Teaching is very important to me; to impart knowledge to a student and see them grow musically is something I find highly rewarding. In classes (held both online and offline with safety precautions in place) I focus on each student’s individual needs and on bringing out their full potential in playing bass guitar, double bass, jazz improvisation, and composition. Individual lesson plans are created to best suit the aims of the student. I have worked as an educator for 9 years and have taught one to one lessons as well as leading popular group masterclasses in jazz performance and composition. My students have ranged from absolute beginners to advanced players. ---- Bio: Hayden is a classically trained bass player, composer, and sound artist from the UK, currently based in Berlin. His background in jazz improvisation, an interest in the space between strains of acoustic and electronic music, and attentiveness to composition acts as a connecting thread in his multiple artistic projects. Besides leading the critically acclaimed quartet Tether, Hayden also performs with his solo electroacoustic project, has worked as a touring musician for many years, and recorded on numerous albums. He also works as a sound designer for advertising, theater, and film. He holds a degree in jazz performance and composition and has been taught by some of the greatest living bass players in the world, including Drew Gress and Chris Lightcap.

I personally love many different types of music from around the world but my favourite styles to play are Jazz/Soul and Latin music. I feel fortunate to have been able to work on my musical skills through leading and playing in many different bands, performing in bars and different events and recording with some pretty cool people. Personally, I think it helps to learn and practice songs that you like because it motivates and speeds up the learning process. I am happy to suggest some songs that would suit your style as we go. I'm very flexible when it comes to the lesson. I like to personalize them to your goals and needs, from which I create specific exercises for listening, rhythm, technique and music theory (which can seem unapproachable at first) I have seen my students grow through ups and downs through putting in time. Key is showing up to the lessons, from there you are already growing. I strongly believe music is a universal language that can be learned and enjoyed by everyone, as long as they put their mind to it. I'd be more than happy to guide you through some of your musical journey and have you be part of mine too.

Great teacher! I started acoustic guitar lessons from zero and I have learned so much with Sergio, he is an excellent teacher, very knowledgeable and patient, he also encourage you to keep practicing to achieve your goals while providing you with very useful material to do it. I really recommend Sergio as a music teacher, he plays a lot of instruments. Excelente profesor, yo empecé clases de guitarra acústica desde cero y he aprendido mucho con Sergio, sabe mucho y es muy paciente, además te anima a seguir practicando para que alcances tus metas y te provee muy buen material para lograrlo. As someone with very little theoretical background, I find that Jean does his best to explain things in a simple and clear matter. He is patient and calm, will adapt the lessons to your level and needs, accompany the lessons with exercises and material that you can use to practice at home, .. Overall a very good experience so far.

After learning bass a for while on my own I decided to get more structure and Rita is perfect for that! She quickly taught me a lot of useful techniques and she gives precise feedback. She is able to adapt to what I want to learn, while also keeping in mind important learning goals. Definitely recommend.
