Eyal has taught hundreds of students over the past 15 years, both guitar and piano next to music theory and composition. Besides his formal music education ( a bachelor in composition and a teaching degree from the music academy in Jerusalem and a master in composition from Codarts, Rotterdam ) Eyal has acquired experience in a wide range of various musical styles, including rock, blues, jazz, classical music, electronic music and contemporary music, on which he bases his rich approach which can be adjusted to every student separately. Solos, chords, improvisations, heavy distortion or acoustic guitar, playing in a party or jumping on stages, reading notes or playing by ear. Maybe you know exactly what you want, and maybe you are not sure. In Eyal's view, the job of the teacher is helping you finding that out, and guiding you through your personal process. Johann Sebastian Bach or John Lennon? Sergei Rachmaninoff or Freddie Mercury? Regina Spektor? Nina Simone? Maybe Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart? Complex harmonies or simple melodies? Classical pieces or modern tunes? The only right answer is what you find interesting.

I'm Alex, a working musician with more than 20 years experience teaching students of all ages. Every student is different, so every lesson is different. When you study with me, you focus on what you want to do, not a one-size-fits-all lesson plan. Take lessons where it's convenient for you. If you're local, you can learn to play your instrument at my home studio in Milwaukie, Oregon. Or, for a relatively small added fee, you can take lessons in your own home within about 15 minutes of zip code 97267--approximately as far north as Southeast Portland, Oregon, and south to about West Linn. If you're further away—really anywhere in the world with an internet connection and a videoconferencing app—you can learn to play via Zoom, Facetime, or whatever other video conferencing app you prefer to use. Lessons are tailored to your needs, tastes and skill level. I teach virtually all styles of guitar and electric bass, beginner to pro. I also teach beginner to intermediate banjo. I've taught guitar—including songwriting, composition, and theory—at the Austin Live Music Academy (ALMA) founded by Jerry Jeff Walker. I've taught adults and children at music schools around Portland, and K-12 students in after-school and summer programs at such prestigious private schools as Catlin-Gabel and the German International School. And I've performed with numerous well-known musicians and bands across the USA including The Motet, Twinkle, Kenny Drew Jr., and Harmonious Wail, to name a few.

Jean - Schaarbeek, Belgium$41
Trusted teacher: A seasoned and passionate musician since the age of 15, I gave my first lessons more than 10 years ago. I am an excellent pedagogue, and I adapt to the level of the student, whether in terms of technical mastery of the instrument, ability to read notes (or tablature), as well as understanding music theory and of the theory. I put myself at the service of the student, his level and his tastes and musical projects. I have a thorough knowledge of music theory, particularly in jazz, and a long experience of playing together (jazz, rock and progressive metal). I can thus provide the theoretical elements necessary for the student to fully appropriate his instrument, at his own pace, and be able to play in a group, invent bass lines, improvise and compose pieces. The bass is the most important instrument in a musical ensemble, whether in jazz, rock, blues, funk, metal or pop. She is the benchmark for all other musicians, she defines both rhythm and harmony, and she literally makes the bodies of the listeners vibrate. 4, 5 or 6 string electric bass

I'm Mikael half dutch and half Ecuadorian guitar player. Currently I'm based in Madrid where I'm studying my Jazz and Pop Music Interpretation Carreer in Madrid at the Escuela de Música Creativa. I've been playing the guitar for 12 years. My lessons (for all ages) do have interactive methods since I'm always looking to enlight the music interest of my studens. I focus and priorize the topics that we will study according to your interests, meaning that we learn through songs and styles that you like. Once your interested in a song, I'll learn you how to analize with active listening in order to understand whats happening inside the song, and then when we'll learn how to play it, you will notice it will be much easier for you. So you can apply this techniques to other music. I also like to motivate my students to improve their playing and knowledges by starting with composition on the guitar as a songwriter. Songwriting will help you to develop you ear training, apply the music theory and listen to music also in a different way.

Trusted teacher: I'm Alfredo, I graduated from the Electric Bass Jazz and Modern Music performance course at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu and later graduated from the Master's in Jazz Performance at Codarts University of the Arts. My methodology is based on adapting the content of the class and the way of teaching it to the needs and learning process of the student. The most efficient way to learn music is through motivation and for this reason I place great emphasis on the idea of working on the music that the student listens to. No matter what genre of music we work on, any type of music can make you improve in all aspects. During the classes I try to cover the following points: - Technique and knowledge of the instrument. - Perception and rhythmic execution. - Theory applied to composition and improvisation. - Development of the melodic and harmonic ear. For students who are just starting out, I emphasize the idea of learning from the experience of playing and understanding the instrument and I let the theoretical part appear naturally once there is already a certain connection with the instrument.

Justin - Berlin Schöneberg, Germany$26
Trusted teacher: My main teaching philosophy is to teach students to play the music they enjoy. It sounds like a no-brainer but I have had teachers in the past who only showed me songs that they enjoyed or used method books that teach you "Mary Had A Little Lamb" or "Hot Crossed Buns" (and if you like those songs then we can learn those). All that to say, whatever the student's goal on the instrument, I will take them step by step until they reach it. For a beginning musician, the fundamentals of the instrument are given the highest priority: how to tune your instrument, names of all the notes, essential chords, basic strumming, playing in time and understanding basic rhythm. For someone who already plays but needs a little help getting out of the rut, we'll spend time fixing bad technical habits, hammering home the fundamentals, expanding their repertoire, and slowly moving outside of the comfort zone to new horizons. With advanced players, listening (ear training), transcribing, song analysis, exploring advanced theory concepts, and focusing on composition and improvisation are most important. With all levels of students, I make playlists that I update after each lesson they can hear real examples of what we are covering, as well as provide detailed written notes in TAB and standard notation so they can refer to everything we covered and know what to practice. Also, it's fun!

Guitar is a hobby that you can carry for the rest of your life. The skills you learn on the guitar can transfer not only to any other musical instrument you play, but to the music you listen too. I am looking to show beginners ways to learn the instrument efficiently and enjoyably. I will do this by working around the student and trying my best to teach off of their interests. I will only ask that outside of lessons, students try their best to practice for 15 minutes per day. I am a current University student who only teaches pursues music as a hobby I am passionate about, My main goal from these lessons will be to share this passion with others so that they are disciplined enough to teach themselves.
