Professional jazz musician offers:
Guitar lessons private or in group
All ages & levels welcome
Electric, acoustic guitar or bass guitar

In addition to classical guitar training, I obtained a master's degree in jazz and contemporary music as a performing musician. I have lived in Paris and London, played with fantastic musicians and have been teaching young people and adults in Dutch, French and English for over 25 years.

The style and level of the lessons are of course dependent on the student. One wants to sing and be able to accompany themselves, the other wants to learn to improvise. Blues, rock, funk, soul, fusion, flamenco, hip hop, mambo, reggae, folk, bossa, disco, ska, samba, tango, classical, pop ... no problem, what matters is that you have fun in the to play.

I'll make transcriptions of your favorite music and show you how to play it, teach a solid technique so you can progress and give theory in small steps so you can see how it all fits together.

I teach on location, online or at my home (amplifier + lesson guitar available).
Are you interested or do you have any questions, just let us know.
I hope to hear from you soon!

What does a lesson look like?
My philosophy is simple: practice is key. We dive into theory where necessary, but the goal is always to help you play better, not to rote learn. I want to get you ready as quickly as possible to play in a band, join a jam session, or simply play the music you love to hear.

These are the standard ingredients of my lessons:
- Songs & Repertoire: We'll quickly start by playing along to songs you enjoy. This way, you'll immediately put your technique into practice.

- Creativity & Songwriting: You learn not only to play by ear, but also to create your own. How do you build a good bass line? How do you make sure it fits the drums? We work on your own musical voice.

- Ear Training & Jamming: Do you want to be able to play along without sheet music? We train your ears so you recognize chords and melodies faster. We conclude every lesson with a short moment of improvisation: just dare to play and listen to what works. Feeling a bit stressed about improvising? No problem, so am I. I’ll happily help you through it, so you feel at ease in any setting.

- Technique & "Theory at your fingertips":
1. We learn the neck of the bass blindly (where are the notes?).
2. We practice scales, modes, arpeggios, and inversions. Not as boring sequences, but as building blocks for creating more interesting bass lines.
3. For those who can read sheet music, we also include sight-reading. Can't read sheet music, but want to learn? Great, we'll do that.
4. We learn to play along with chord progressions.

For absolute beginners: Have you just started? Then we will take our time to get the basics right. You will get to know the instrument well, and we will also cover music theory in an accessible way, so that you have a solid foundation.

The end goal? That you feel confident on stage or in a rehearsal room, know what you're doing, and above all: enjoy playing.
