I perform and have performed with renowned musicians and bands from many different scenes and styles, bringing me to venues all over the world (USA, UK, Germany, Denmark, France, Romania, Portugal, Spain...). I have a deep passion for music ever since I started playing 16 years ago, and would like to share it with you! Bass is the best! And I want to help you uncover it's full potential. I believe the best way to learn music is to study what you love, and always work from a place of curiosity and passion. Therefore, we will always look together for ways of making the process the most enjoyable and tackle different topics through the music YOU love. The classes are tailored to each individual student: we find the best work flow for you, and adapt the lessons. If you need structure and a clear program, I can provide that; but if you prefer to keep it loose and see as we go, it's all good. All that matters if your continued motivation and progress. Among other things, we can focus on: -Basic technique on the instrument -Learning songs of your choice, with a method that will allow you to learn songs by yourself later on. -Learn about different styles: Pop, Rock, Funk, Soul, Metal, Jazz... -Develop your understanding of music through the instrument (scales, arpeggios...) -Creativity, and improvisation through the use of the material we have studied together -Ear training and music theory -Rhythm, all the way from basic to very advanced -Basic compositional techniques, or fun ways to start composing I have been teaching privately for the past 6 years, with very happy students. Trusted teacher: Hi bass guitar player! If you like the low notes, the rhythm, the groove the most: high five! Bass guitar still is my favourite instrument, although I also like singing and playing drums, and can get some sounds out of a keyboard or guitar. What moves me the most about playing music is being on stage with fellow musicians and experience how the music touches, inspires, arouses or moves our audience. It's an experience I wish other for other musicians, my students, you. An experience I hope to contribute to with my lessons. In the lessons your taste, preferences and level are starting point and goal. Depending on your wishes and (learning) questions I will compile the lessons with excercises for developing your technique, level, and skills like playing (together with a drummer and in a band). Developing a good technique, finding the right bass lines with your favourite tracks or coming up with your own bass lines are important topics in the lessons. In 2006 I graduated at the Utrecht Conservatoir, bass guitar Jazz & Pop, where I studied with Theo de Jong and also with Joel Groenewold and Harry Emmery. Previously I had studied with Sven Schuster, and in Brazil I studied with Thiago Espirito Santo. I have been teaching for twenty years, and performed with all kinds of bands in all kinds of styles on stages and in studios in The Netherlands, Belgium, Israel and Brazil.

Creative bass guitar lessons where the songs are central (Amsterdam)

After learning bass a for while on my own I decided to get more structure and Rita is perfect for that! She quickly taught me a lot of useful techniques and she gives precise feedback. First lesson went of quite well considering that I'm a novice, but with help from Nuno who is a very patient and pleasant guy i do feel a bit more confident. He explains it in a simple format giving you the time to understand what you are actually trying to play. I look forward to my next session
