I am a civil engineer by training and a musician at heart. With over 25 years of experience as a bassist, I have developed a deep understanding of the instrument and music as a form of expression. Additionally, my academic background has given me a strong foundation in mathematics and physics—subjects I have always enjoyed teaching.

Currently, I live in Berlin, and besides music and science, I am passionate about languages. Like with languages, intuition plays a huge part in learning an instrument. Most often in music, the correct choice will the the one that ~feels~ the most natural. This is what my teachers, from when I was a kid, all the way to the end of my studies at the conservatory, have prioritized in lessons; Working less hard to sound better.

I’m here to help you in the same way, to decipher with you certain sounds, certain gestures in recorder playing, so that we can map out together your skill set, and eventually find your own style of play.

When it comes to the grammar part of music, I’m ready to teach you everything about reading notes, intervals, chords, and all the principles of music theory, with examples and fun exercises.

I am a very patient person, and have experience with beginners as well as “matured” amateurs :)

I hold a masters in early music, along with a bachelors in classical composition.

My dream is to live from composition mainly, writing music for concerts, film and ballet. Currently I’m working on a ballet commission from the Schauspielhaus in Zurich, and more original music for a series of concerts next summer in France.

My favorite composers are Bartok... and a bunch of anonymous medieval ones.

Music is one of the cornerstones of a healthy and happy life and it would be my pleasure to help guide you through part of your musical journey. I teach all skill levels and ambitions, whether you want to play bass a hobby, set up a band with friends or want to prepare for a conservatory audition, I can help you. In my teaching I try to give you the best foundational skills to achieve your musical goals. This means a high level of customization is possible if you have an idea of what direction you want to head down, but I will of course guide you on the way as well.

As a bassist my strong suits are Rock, Pop, RnB and Neo Soul but through the years I have recorded and played live shows in a host of different genres (Jazz, Fusion, Reggae, Ska, Hard rock etc) so my teaching is by all means not contained to a few genres, I believe having a good overview over different kinds of music is very important.

I am originally from Rotterdam, the Netherlands and have been playing bass since I was 13 years old. I graduated in 2023 with a degree in Electric Bass from BIMM Berlin and have studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston (Summer 2018), Holland College in Canada (2019-2020) and am an alumni of the Popkurs at the HfmT Hamburg (2025). As a session bassist in Berlin I have recorded in many great studios with Grammy award winning and nominated producers and engineers (Sting, Billie Eilish). Apart from this I play for multiple artists and have played shows in venues such as Festsaal Kreuzberg, Columbiatheater, Lido, Badehaus, Maschinenhaus, Kantine Am Berghain, Privatclub and run a YouTube channel with over 500.000 views. Next to this I teach students both in person and online and occasionally work at a music venue, basically I do anything to always be in a musical environment!

I can't wait to get started with helping you achieve your musical goals!
