Hello, I've been teaching music lessons in Southern California since 2008. Trained primarily as a classical guitarist, I also have extensive experience performing and teaching a wide variety of musical styles, including rock, jazz, and blues. Not only will I teach you how to play, but I will also help you to understand the language of music and how your instrument can speak it. So if you are looking for an encouraging, patient teacher to help you learn a plucked string instrument such as guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele, or mandolin, I'd love to work with you! Over the years, I've taught a multitude of students of plucked strings and music theory; given countless performances as a soloist and with a number of diverse groups as a guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, and banjoist; and been an active songwriter, composer, and arranger. Several of my works for guitar have been published, and I also wrote the first-ever method book on playing classical music on the 5-string banjo. I have my BA in Music from Cal Poly Pomona, my MM from CSU Los Angeles, and my DMA from Claremont Graduate University. I'm looking forward to working with you to achieve your goals!

Trusted teacher: At Attuned lessons are uniquely designed to give you the skills you need to make the music you want to make. We begin by teaching a single instrument, for example, guitar. We learn about how a guitar works, how you play it and how different guitarists have defined and redefined how the instrument can be used. But underlying the guitar are universal music concepts that can be applied to any instrument anywhere; things like tone, melody, rhythm and composition. Once you’ve got a handle on the guitar we learn about how these musical concepts can be applied in other places. Depending on interest and creative curiosity, in our lessons we can explore guitar, bass, drums, piano, voice, basic recording and production, music notation, classical composition, song and lyric writing, playing with a band, and performing music. The process of learning music is never complete. We hope to give our students the tools they need to spend their whole lives learning, playing and enjoying music.

Trusted teacher: Many of students that I teach contact me after frustrations that they encounter while trying to learn how to play songs on their own. My solution is to always rationalize and simplify difficult songs according to your current abilities. This practically means that almost in every case my students are able to play songs they like from the very beginning. Furthermore, my goal is to use every song as a template and practically teach you how to recognize certain repeating patterns underlying each of them. In simple words, instead of spending tons of money to learn every song from scratch, you will become equipped to recognize these patterns and learn similar songs on your own. Let’s make something clear – music is not so complex as it appears to be. Some concepts just take longer for you to fully comprehend them. The sooner you start recognizing and understanding the principles behind each of the songs you play, the faster you will develop. At the end, the goal of everyone is to enjoy and have fun, and your progress means more excitement for me!

My name is Jaimee I have played violin since I was 9. I competed and won solo and duet competitions while attending elementary school in Temple, Texas as a child. I regularly attended and performed in Orchestra in high school and passed my audition to perform in Pasadena City College Orchestra. While attending college I realized I didn't have time to dedicate my academics as well as Orchestra. Although proving to myself that I passed a college audition is worth mentioning. Now that I am a mother I am prioritizing my love for the violin and I have the desire to share my love for such a classical instrument. My family also has a history of violin teachers in my bloodline. I also could teach electric violin if requested, bring your own amp. I have already given my two year old several violin lessons and she is now three. I have heard many people's perspectives on teaching toddlers and I find that they are the best students. It can be a challenge but in my opinion it's no different than teaching kindergarten students to obey their teachers.

Hymns and anointed worship songs are the key components of worshipping God with instruments. Learning to worship and glorify God can be fun and enjoyable, but it also involves hard-work and practice. Worshipping God with instruments isn't only about what you do when you are playing, but also what you do when you aren't.
