What does a lesson look like? My philosophy is simple: practice is key. We dive into theory where necessary, but the goal is always to help you play better, not to rote learn. I want to get you ready as quickly as possible to play in a band, join a jam session, or simply play the music you love to hear. These are the standard ingredients of my lessons: - Songs & Repertoire: We'll quickly start by playing along to songs you enjoy. This way, you'll immediately put your technique into practice. - Creativity & Songwriting: You learn not only to play by ear, but also to create your own. How do you build a good bass line? How do you make sure it fits the drums? We work on your own musical voice. - Ear Training & Jamming: Do you want to be able to play along without sheet music? We train your ears so you recognize chords and melodies faster. We conclude every lesson with a short moment of improvisation: just dare to play and listen to what works. Feeling a bit stressed about improvising? No problem, so am I. I’ll happily help you through it, so you feel at ease in any setting. - Technique & "Theory at your fingertips": 1. We learn the neck of the bass blindly (where are the notes?). 2. We practice scales, modes, arpeggios, and inversions. Not as boring sequences, but as building blocks for creating more interesting bass lines. 3. For those who can read sheet music, we also include sight-reading. Can't read sheet music, but want to learn? Great, we'll do that. 4. We learn to play along with chord progressions. For absolute beginners: Have you just started? Then we will take our time to get the basics right. You will get to know the instrument well, and we will also cover music theory in an accessible way, so that you have a solid foundation. The end goal? That you feel confident on stage or in a rehearsal room, know what you're doing, and above all: enjoy playing.

Flute or piccolo initiation or advanced lessons for childrens and adultsTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Hello! My name is Irene, and I am a professional flautist and flute teacher. I am currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, while also working as an academist with the Belgian National Orchestra and La Monnaie. I am a Yamaha Young Artist and have received several prizes in music competitions. Music has always been a big part of my life. My father is a trumpet teacher, so I grew up surrounded by music and teaching. I have been giving lessons to children and young people for around eight years, both during summer music courses and through private lessons. I believe that the best way to learn is through play and enjoyment. My lessons are adapted to each student’s age, level and personality, and I like to combine music with different disciplines and creative activities, such as mindfulness, movement and even mathematics. This helps students develop their concentration, coordination, creativity and confidence while having fun. I offer lessons in flute, piccolo and music theory. Whether you are just starting, preparing for an audition or simply want to play music for fun, we will work on technique and musicality in a relaxed and motivating atmosphere. I live in Mechelen and can travel to nearby locations. Online lessons are also available. I look forward to meeting you and making music together!
