All levels from beginner to advanced are welcome. I teach ages 4-18. My teaching style is friendly and every lesson is designed to suit each individual student, whatever their needs may be. I am enthusiastic about teaching and I enjoy conveying my passion for music to my students. Lessons are designed to be fun and to help each pupil achieve their musical goal. I can help with GCSE and A level music work as well as the composition and performance aspects of these exams. I can aid with secondary school music auditions and conservatoire/university auditions. For instrumental teaching I do both theory and practical grades to help with progression of the instrument. Music grades, I teach grade 1- diploma level on the violin and grades 1- 5 on the piano. I can teach grades 1-5 in music theory. I use both ABRSM and Trinity College London exam boards, tailoring the choice of the exam board to the needs and desires of the student. My lessons are designed to be enjoyed so there is the option to learn to play for fun or you can take exam grades. I like to build repertoire around exam grades in order to broaden the knowledge of other pieces. As well as working privately I also work with the Peterborough Music Hub delivering whole class instrumental lessons as well as small group and 1-1 music lessons at local schools. Hello! Being a singer and a singing teacher, many many times I have found myself in the situation of having to work on ear training, or solfège, or music theory... or all the above listed! Approaching music and having no clue of these elements can totally be intimidating and off-putting, but with the right guidance and the correct practice, I’m sure you will learn in no time! I want to prove to you that building this basic knowledge can be easy, accessible, and not heavy at all. My program is not fixed: I’ll build it on your specific needs, whether they are preparing an exam, curiosity, or getting better at pitch matching... we will discuss it together. I have many books and materials, and I honestly prefer to draw blackboards by myself a lot of times. Unless you want to, I won’t ask you to buy any material, so the only cost that you will have to sustain is for the time of the class.

About me I obtained a Grade 8 diploma in Music Theory and also a Grade 8 Piano from the Royal Schools of Music. In addition, I hold a diploma in Audio Engineering from Hofa College. I am active as a music artist and producer myself. Thanks to this combination of classical training and practical experience, I know how important it is to make theory understandable, concrete, and musical. I use my own piano during lessons to clarify everything visually and audibly. My name is Denise and I am a professional singer and vocal coach with a Master’s degree in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC). I have over 10 years of teaching experience in Europe and Latin America, working with students from diverse cultural and musical backgrounds in private lessons, artistic projects, and educational contexts. My artistic work includes early music and chamber repertoire, as well as Latin American folk, jazz, and contemporary crossover styles. This diversity strongly informs my teaching approach, which is flexible, stylistically open, and based on healthy vocal function.
