Trusted teacher: I am a composer and pianist and I give piano lessons to kids and adults of a wide range of levels! Feel free to contact me if you are interested in learning how to play the piano or if you are curious about music theory or how to make your own music! In my classes, my goal is to approach piano playing in a holistic way, starting with a healthy posture, but also musical expression. We will work on memory, on the dependency of each hand and finger, integrating in every lesson the music theory and singing along with exercises on rhythm (TAKADIMI system of rhythm solfege) and last but not least, creation (through improvisation and other creative tasks) which will offer you the possibility to craft and master in a deeper level your piano skills. The structure and the material of the lesson derive from established piano methods and further music bibliography and they are adjusted to your skills, preferences, and wishes. I am always interested in transcribing some of my pupils' favorite pieces on piano according to their skills, something that often is very useful and fruitful for their progress. In the first lesson we will talk about your interests, motivation, and goals and we will create together a personal course structure. Experience in ABRSM piano performance exams in case you are interested in achieving a grade. Trusted teacher: I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. I recently started piano lessons with Imanol, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. He is incredibly patient and creates a calm, welcoming atmosphere that makes learning enjoyable. His knowledge of the instrument is impressive, and he explains concepts clearly, providing just the right amount of information to keep me engaged without feeling overwhelmed. One of the things I appreciate most is how he challenges me in a positive way. The lessons are structured so that I can steadily progress, but there's always an element of pushing me just outside my comfort zone, which has really helped me grow. Our son enjoyed so much a trial with Myrto! She is a very warm and smiley person, great and natural with kids! She was very patient and handled our 5y son wonderfully. It was very nice to have Myrto as she sparked so much joy and love for music. No hesitation to recommend her! In the end we opted for another teacher who spoke Russian to my son and that was an added bonus for us. Otherwise, we would be happy to continue with Myrto!
