I am a 32-year old guitarist, songwriter and composer based in Den Haag, songwriting, composition, electric and acoustic guitar, in combination with music theory. I teach in English or in Greek. I am half Greek and half Scottish and I have been living in the Netherlands for the last 4 years. I am Michele, a professional musician with more than 15 years of experience and with two Classical Guitar Master's degrees. I give guitar and music theory lessons for all ages and levels, from beginner to advanced players. I believe that following a path that best suits the characteristics, tastes, and goals of each student is the best and funniest way to learn an instrument. Each of my lessons is unique and adapted to the student's personality. At first, I usually aim at the acquisition of basic knowledge relating to the instrument. Then, you decide what to learn: from classical guitar to electric or acoustic guitar, from classical music to rock, pop, or folk! For instance, if you want to learn how to play classical music, we are going to work on how to read and interpret a score, acquire a good technique (arpeggios, scales, and control of polyphony) while always focusing on the meaning, the feeling, and the direction of the musical piece. At the same time, if you want to focus on other genres (such as rock, pop, etc...) we are going to work on improving your ear skills, sense of rhythm, and theory knowledge while learning the songs you like the most. A singing class for children is very different from a class for adults. For example, with younger children, we do more vocal exploration and movement, to ensure that they build a love for music and to protect their voice. For vocational adult amateurs, we may work on more songs than vocal exercises. I have a Master of Music in Singing (Classical) at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, and previously graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Vocal Performance) from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. I've received training in contemporary pop singing style with Meredith Colby's Neuro-Vocal Method, and also believe in the body-based Alexander Technique method of posture alignment.
