I offer fully online piano lessons in English for teenagers and adults who want thoughtful, structured and serious musical training. My teaching is rooted in the Russian academic piano tradition, but the lessons are not limited to a narrow repertoire path. We can work with classical pieces or other music that is meaningful to the student — including modern, film, anime or jazz-oriented material — as long as the work remains serious, attentive and musically thoughtful. In my lessons, technique, reading, coordination, sound, rhythm, phrasing, memory and expression are connected into one clear musical system. The aim is not only to learn pieces, but to understand how music works from inside: how the ear, mind, hands, body and musical intention come together. I help students develop a deeper relationship with music as a living language — with direction, structure, breathing, sound, emotion and inner logic. The goal is for the student to play not mechanically, but with understanding, freedom, taste and personal expression. I work best with motivated students: serious teenagers, advanced amateurs, returning adults, and learners preparing demanding repertoire, auditions or international exams, including ABRSM. In every case, the focus is on building a complete musical foundation: technique, sound, understanding, expression and confident independent practice. I am a concert pianist and piano educator with more than 20 years of teaching experience. I studied at the Moscow Conservatory College and the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, taught at university level, performed internationally and recorded two CDs for Melodiya. The lessons are structured, precise and demanding, but clear and respectful. My aim is to help each student not only play better, but understand music more deeply and gradually become more independent, intelligent and artistic at the piano.

As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!) Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other! One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it. I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and a distinction in Fashion Communication which included my music playing at Central Saint Martins. I also have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before. The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.

I started learning the cello with absolutely no background in music, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. From the very beginning, Miriam made the process feel approachable and enjoyable. What stands out the most is her ability to adapt her teaching, she always finds a different way to explain something until it truly clicks. You can feel that her approach is shaped by years of experience and by everything she has learned from other musicians, but what makes the difference is how she passes that knowledge on. She doesn’t just teach technique, she shares her passion for music in a way that makes you want to keep going. She is patient, calm, and genuinely supportive, which makes a big difference when you’re starting from zero. I enjoy our lessons with Guido - he is a knowledgeable musician and a great teacher. He strikes a perfect balance between the student's comfort zone and the steps toward future growth, allowing you to learn slightly beyond it while still feeling ‘safe’. Appreciate his attention to various small details and the different examples he provides when a musical concept is difficult to understand. These are things that are hard to grasp and then fix on your own, and that’s the true beauty of in-person lessons. I wholeheartedly recommend him 🤌

Eda is a fabulous teacher with a real gift for teaching! I'm so thrilled that we happened to find her for our daughter — in the first lesson alone, she was able to demystify a grand piano for a small child and introduced concepts of rhythm and tone through play. Her approach to music feels magical and filled with wonder, and by the end of the 45 minutes I couldn't help but ask whether Eda also teachers adults (she does!), because I want her as my teacher as well!
