It is a static practice in which we stay in deep stretching positions for extended periods of time which allows to increase mobility and range of motion in the joints. Yoga Nidra is a magical experience of building the sensation of wholeness within you. It will relax you, may also activate emotions which have been living within you for some time. I give Restorative, Yin and Hatha yoga classes and sound yoga sessions (sound therapy). Restorative yoga is the most relaxing yoga. It is a gentle, introspective yoga that cultivates inner calm. Unlike most other yogas, there is no muscle strengthening. We simply remain in still postures in order to relax the mind, breathe and relax deeply. Yin Yoga is a slow yoga. The practice of this focuses on connective tissues such as ligaments, bones, joints and even cartilage. It requires little or no muscular engagement. Yin yoga consists of long stretches, combinations of slow and deep breathing as well as postures that must be held for several minutes. Hatha Yoga combines postures much more quickly than Yin and Restorative yoga and it works on strengthening as well as muscular elasticity. It also helps to balance the two hemispheres of the brain as well as to harmonize the body and mind. The benefits of Yoga: - Strengthen the health of joints and bone. - Strengthen the cardiovascular system. - Improve overall body flexibility. - Promote better body posture. - Reduce pain. - Tone the muscles. - Help with digestion (twisting postures). - Reduce stress and anxiety. - Achieve maximum relaxation by cultivating abandonment and letting go. - Help fight depression. I have been fortunate enough to work with Sharon, for about a month now, to address a string of sports injuries incurred through my military career. Her classes have been so very positive, encouraging, and free of any sort of judgement . Sharon maintains wonderful professional boundaries and has met me where I am at, in my own journey, and approached our time as a guide to my own personal goals. At the risk of buffing my own ego, I have been fortunate enough to spend stretches of time in most of the “spiritual”/yoga hubs around the world (Bali, Koh Phangan, Rishikesh, Ibiza, etc) and struggle to recall a better example of one whose own practice is better reflected from the inside out. We are really lucky to have Sharon right here in CDMX, I highly recommend her 🙏🏻
