Private piano lessons during the summer holidays in AntwerpTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Private piano lessons during the summer holidays in AntwerpTranslate this text using Google Translate.

PRIVATE PIANOLES Would you like to learn to play the piano, prefer one-on-one private lessons to attending a music school, or prepare yourself for the new school year at the academy? Do you want to pick up your lessons again after taking a break, improve your technique, or simply see if the piano is right for you? Would you like to try out other music genres, learn to accompany yourself, improvise, compose, play your favorite classical piece or radio song, learn more about basic harmony...? Then you are very welcome in my living room! Knowledge of music theory is allowed, but certainly not required. Genre: Classical, pop, film music, basic jazz, songwriting, accompaniment, chord theory, children's songs... I usually teach a combination of classical piano (reading sheet music) and improvisation, chord theory, composing..., but anything is possible. Occasionally, other instruments are even introduced, such as percussion for learning rhythm. Experience: I graduated from Studio Herman Teirlinck (Cabaret specialization) and subsequently studied piano at the Antwerp Jazz Studio. In addition, I took masterclasses with Jef Neve, Kenny Werner, Amina Figarova, among others. Besides private lessons (to both children and adults), I taught piano for several years at the youth music school of the Halewijn Foundation (Berchem). When: By appointment Where: At 2020 Antwerp (Kiel), near the Kiel Library, the Singel, Exhibition District... Feel free to email me for more info! I look forward to receiving you here! musical regards, Martine

In my lessons you get a lot of information in a fun learning environment. So if you are studious, creative, like a joke in between and an honest approach, then you are the student, singer, artist for me! :) My passion lies not only with singing itself, but especially with coaching. I love so much to see my students grow and shine on stage, much more than being there myself. I love the profession so much because it also combines my creative, caring, coaching side with my investigative, inquisitive nature. I continuously immerse myself in everything that has to do with voice, mindset and a healthy body. And hope to inspire you with that too. - Discover the potential of your voice and take control! - Discover and develop your unique sound! - Learn to use your voice in a healthy way to prevent voice complaints! - Discover different music genres and train your vocal range - Learn relaxation techniques, optimize your mind & body, master stress and fear of failure. - Discover who you are as a performer, Learn how to let your strengths shine on stage!

Music Theory Lessons for Children and Adults (Grades 1-8 ABRSM)Translate this text using Google Translate.

Music Theory Lessons for Children and Adults (Grades 1-8 ABRSM)Translate this text using Google Translate.

As an experienced music theory tutor and professional pianist, I use a curriculum established by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in the UK to guide students from grades 1-8 (beginning up to early-advanced levels) towards mastery of music theory. We can start from the beginning and work your way up, or find a suitable level based on prior knowledge. My students regularly achieve highest marks in the ABRSM exams following this system. However, if exams are not your goal, and you would simply like a deeper level of theoretical understanding of your music pieces, we apply the insights gained from this course directly to the pieces you are studying without a lot of stress. Course components include: Notation and solfège Rhythm Meter Scales + Arpeggios Intervals Chords Cadences Harmonic Function Form and Analysis My background in music theory derives from my professional musical training in the USA where I followed advanced honors-level music theory, ear-training, musical analysis, and orchestral conducting courses in addition to my regular piano performance studies. The insights provided from these analytical courses have proved immensely beneficial to my own life as a pianist. This knowledge not only speeds up the learning process for a musical piece, but also increases confidence in performance by enhancing memorization skills and providing a higher level of awareness of the components which drive musical phrasing and expression. A knowledge of music theory is therefore a crucial element for proficiency of any instrument and a huge aid to any serious music student.

Classical and modern cello classes in BarcelonaTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Classical and modern cello classes in BarcelonaTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me. Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on. Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor. Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing. No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. Adapting to your tastes, we'll go from baroque to blues, from Haydn to bebop... or even Michael Jackson. Why not? If you identify with this approach, contact me! Learning the cello is a pleasure, and I'd love to share it with you!

My lessons are tailored to each student’s age, experience, and goals. Children (7–12 years old) For younger students, lessons focus on building confidence while making learning fun. We begin with simple vocal warm-ups and ear training to develop pitch and intonation, then move on to singing their favourite songs, encouraging good vocal habits in an enjoyable way. Teenagers (12-17 years old) With teenage students, we start with more structured vocal warm-ups and exercises. As we discover their natural voice, we work on developing a comfortable vocal range, improving technique, and applying these skills through songs that suit their voice and interests. Adults and seniors (18+) For adult students, lessons are usually divided into two parts. We begin with vocal technique, focusing on breathing, diaphragm support, scales, arpeggios, and intonation. We then apply these techniques through singing, helping you develop confidence, control, and healthy vocal habits. I will give you repertoire to study or we will study the pieces you have to prepare. The final goal will be to sing on a musical accompaniment. Every student learns at a different pace. Some may spend more time building a solid technical foundation before moving on to more challenging repertoire, and that’s perfectly fine. My priority is to ensure that every student feels comfortable, supported, and confident throughout their vocal journey. I teach children, teenagers, and adults and seniors from complete beginners to advanced singers. My classical training provides a strong technical foundation that can be applied to any musical style, whether you enjoy pop, musical theatre, jazz, rock, or classical singing. Whatever your age or experience, I’d love to help you discover and develop your voice. Let’s sing!

“ Mary has been great in our interactions. At the moment, we are meeting twice a week for an hour each session. She started with a class in which we got to know each other and she listen to my goals. Then, she prepared exercises and lessons specially designed to help me reach those goals with practice and also prepared lessons to help me continue growing as a guitar player. Moreover, she goes often out of her way to get songs challenging to my level, but that are doable with enough practice. In all, I am enjoying quite a lot of our classes and I am always looking forward to them. ”

“ I had my first lesson today and I was immediately struck with the feeling that I am in the presence of a maestro in Piano playing, a professor in teaching and an extremely patient pedagogue. It was like Lydia knew me for years and instantaneously detected my strengths and my weaknesses in my piano playing and practice. I am an adult student and I highly recommend Lydia for all ages and all levels. An exceptional teacher that provides and exceptional lesson experience. ”

“ As someone who loves singing it was very helpful in the very first lesson to begin to understand the muscles I need to use and the "spaces" I need to create to stabilise and improve my sound. I also felt she responded well to each question I raised, or issue she heard in the way I did the excercises. I look forward to future lessons. ”
