Over the last 8 years of private instruction experience Rafael has been working as a Woodwind Teacher (saxophone, flute, and clarinet) on both classical and jazz music. He believes in creating a friendly and professional atmosphere making sure that students feel supported on their individual musical journey, by giving them the knowledge necessary for reaching their personal aspirations. Furthermore, Rafael has conducted few practical 15min seminars on “How to play the saxophone” and also 30min workshop on “Jazz Improvisation” for a community jazz big band (Note Benders) First Lesson Typically, the first lesson begins with an introduction and informal chat where Rafael and his students get to know each other and discuss the student’s musical interests and aspirations. Rafael offers a wide range of experiences and is interested in focusing on ways to help each student achieve their maximum potential. Whatever your background, age group or level, whether you coming to instruction for the first time, returning after many years, continuing study after conservatory, preparing for exams or even on a professional path Rafael has enough knowledge. He’s able to adapt his instruction according to individual needs and preferences of each student by providing books, exercises and/or repertoire. In-person lessons usually take place at Rafael’s teaching studio or alternatively on student’s chosen location. Beginners Rafael understands that starting your journey on learning a new musical instrument can be difficult which is why he’s always a supportive and encouraging teacher towards new students. Beginner students don’t need to have any prior experience whatsoever when it comes to either playing or being able to read music. On the 1st lesson usually there’s no need to own an instrument as Rafael will provide everything necessary and guide each student on the basics of how to play the instrument they’re learning. By the end of the 1st lesson students are usually able to play a few notes on the instrument and have all the basic knowledge needed to start learning and begin their musical journey. To benefit from Rafael’s teaching, it’s recommended that student have their own instrument (Saxophone, Clarinet or Flute) although, Rafael has knowledge on available and affordable instrument hire services as well as provides guidance to all students on purchasing their first instrument

Hello, I’m Laura, and I absolutely love teaching singing. There’s something very special about helping students discover and develop their voice, whether they’re singing for the first time or working towards refining their technique. Watching someone grow in confidence and truly enjoy their singing is what makes teaching so rewarding. I have a Master’s degree in Songwriting from Bath Spa University and vocal training with BAST, giving me a strong foundation in both performance and technique. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of performing at festivals such as Shambala, Secret Garden Party, Boomtown, and Cheltenham Jazz Festival, as well as supporting big names from the underground music scene across the UK. Through these experiences, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful singing can be, not just as a skill but as a way of expressing something deep and personal. My goal is to help students connect with their voice in a way that feels natural, expressive, and fulfilling. As a qualified and experienced yoga facilitator, I may incorporate breathing exercises and yoga techniques into sessions where needed. These can be particularly helpful in releasing tension, improving mindset, and opening up the voice, allowing students to sing with greater ease and confidence. How I Teach I tailor every lesson to suit the individual. Whether you want to focus solely on singing, songwriting, or a mix of both, we’ll create a session that works for you. My approach is supportive and relaxed, helping students of all levels build confidence and skill in a way that feels enjoyable. • Singing lessons focus on technique, tone, performance, and breathing exercises to help reduce tension and improve vocal control. • Songwriting sessions guide you through developing ideas, refining lyrics, and bringing songs to life. • Basic guitar tuition is also available for those who want to accompany themselves while singing or songwriting.

I teach instrumental lessons (face to face from my Music Studio and online) on flute, piano, singing, saxophone and clarinet, as well as music theory. I also offer general musical skills sessions for young children who are not quite old enough to learn one specific instrument yet. I have experience as a Music Teacher and Lecturer for schools and colleges, so I also offer help with GCSE and A-Level Music. I attend regular Safeguarding training and I have an advanced DBS on the update service. I also have experience working with children who have special educational needs and EHCP’s. Learning music and an instrument as well as being part of a group or ensemble, is about much more than becoming a performer. The skills and techniques learnt, are incredibly versatile for use in other subjects as well as being valuable life skills. Below are some of the skills which are developed in Music: Co-ordination Motor skills Imagination Expression Commitment Discipline Organisation skills Self evaluation Confidence Team work Communication Support Setting targets and goals Sense of achievement I am also a Musical Director for choirs where the importance is on community, enjoyment, health and well being and making sure that people feel included and good about singing with a wide range of repertoire including classical, folk, jazz, gospel, pop and musical theatre. I also have experience of running school and college choirs, orchestras and ensembles. I choose repertoire of various genres for students to explore different sounds and styles, with some being quicker to learn but effective, to build a more instant satisfaction and confidence within the group, while other pieces are more technical, allowing students to challenge themselves. As well as being a solo Flautist, Singer, and Saxophonist, I am part of an acoustic Classical Flute and Guitar duo, a Folk duo, a Jazz ensemble and a Folk Rock band, performing at weddings, private functions, festivals and events.
