After a master of sociology I make the decision to train myself professionally; I return simultaneously to the conservatory of Agen in jazz and conservatory of Bordeaux in classical to learn bass. Then, in 2014, I confirm a National Superior Professional Musician Diploma at the Pole Supérieur Paris Boulogne Billancourt through the training at the Didier Lockwood Music Center. I was trained retrospectively by Jean-Paul Macé, Kent Carter, Gilles Naturel, Marc-Michel Lebevillon, Cristian Diaz, Jean Michel Charbonel, Chris Jennings, Cristophe Dal-sasso, and Carine Bonnefoy (for writing). All these people have nourished my love and passion for music, which remains for me a long way to explore in search of new knowledge. It is the diversity of cultures and the wealth of knowledge that drives me to continue to study everything within my reach. The mode of learning depends on the musical style approached, for example I will not make music theory to someone who wants to play the AC / DC (unless he wishes) conversely a person who wants to address jazz can hardly do without notions about harmony. The purpose of this approach is to develop the independence of the student. Trusted teacher: I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. I'm really glad that I can take bass lessons from Christophe, as a professional bass player, he has really good skills and can adapt easily according to students' levels and preferences. I've been taking online jazz piano lessons from John for over a month. Despite living on opposite ends of the planet, I've been having a seamless learning experience online and am thoroughly enjoying each lesson. John has a deep knowledge of jazz music and a very friendly personality. We adapt each lesson to whatever I'm burning to learning about and/or whatever blind spot John notices in my playing. I'm provided with sheet music summaries of each lesson that help me structure my practice each week, and I always feel encouraged to learn more. Can't recommend him enough as a teacher!
