6 music theory lessons teachers in Ivry‑sur‑Seine

Music can be learned at any age! A jazz piano and contemporary music teacher with a state diploma from Pôle Sup' 93, I give lessons for young, medium or old of all levels. I am also a composer and arranger. I teach at rue Marceau (tram Maryse Bastié or metro Pierre et Marie Curie). Whether you are a complete beginner, classically trained, or an advanced self-taught person, my courses are for you. I adapt my program according to the strengths, weaknesses and needs of each person: -work of jazz, pop, rock, funk standards... -learning and deciphering chords, scales, modes, voicings... -improvisation work -piano technique exercises -harmony/music theory - deciphering scores -work on rhythm and ear -MAO, music production -composition and arrangements This program is flexible depending on your profile and your priorities, which we will define together during the first lesson and then throughout the year and your progress. To get started or review the basics needed for all styles (classical, jazz, contemporary music, etc.), I recommend the Piano Safari method that I have been using successfully with my students for several years now. It comes in 3 versions: -Piano Safari Friends from 4 to 6 years old -Piano Safari from 6 to 10 years old -Piano Safari for the older student for teens and adults. --- NEW FOR THE SEPTEMBER BACK TO SCHOOL: GROUP CLASSES Collective workshop 6 hands For whom: children (6 to 10 years old), 3 students Level: beginners Duration: 45 min When: every week (Tuesday evening or Wednesday, time to be defined together) The students work together around a single piano, alternating between times when each student plays alone in turn and phases of collective playing with 6 hands. The program of the two workshops is based on a modern and fun American method: Piano Safari. It provides both the learning of music theory and reading as well as the acquisition of the fundamentals of piano technique through a varied repertoire (classical, traditional music, blues, etc.) of progressive difficulty. Learning is done in a balanced way between written approach (reading of score) and oral approach (imitation of the teacher). It also provides an introduction to improvisation. Most of the pieces are designed to be accompanied by the teacher and mp3s are provided for work on site and at home. Demonstration videos to watch at home are also provided to facilitate learning of the pieces learned orally.

Trusted teacher: I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.

Trusted teacher: I've been a drummer for almost 20 years now, and I've graduated from both Brussels Royal Conservatory of Music (classical percussion) and Mons Royal Conservatory of Music (pedagogy). I've been teaching percussion, the drums and music theory for a little more than 4 years now. My students are always the real actors of my courses. No matter what instrument you are learning, be it percussion, the drums, marimba, vibraphone, or music theory, I always pay close attention to your personal goals, and together we devise a unique learning plan that adapts to your strengths as well as your weaknesses. My courses are aimed at anyone who is willing to put effort into learning music; children or adults, complete beginners or more advanced players who wish to receive additional feedback and insight. Autonomy, creativity, curiosity and listening skills are the true pillars of my methodology. We pay as much attention to technique as to musicality or listening skills. Additionally, I provide tailored exercises, on-demand sheet music and transcriptions according to your needs, as well as additional resources and recommendations on my website to nourish your musical life and journey. I teach the following: -the drums, in various styles (rock, funk, jazz, shuffle, pop, world music, latin music, on-demand songs) and forms (Moeller technique, speed, rudiments, syncopation, breaks, solo, independence, musicality, double pedal, push-pull, etc.); -percussion (2 or 4-mallet marimba and vibraphone, xylophone, timpani, cajón, hand percussion), in both contemporary and classical music styles; -music theory, which can and will easily be integrated into my drumming or percussion courses, or can be taught as a separate course for music students who are seeking remedial education; -harmony; -sight reading techniques; -perfect and relative pitch (experimental)

I'm really glad that I can take bass lessons from Christophe, as a professional bass player, he has really good skills and can adapt easily according to students' levels and preferences. Also, he is really responsible, and he sent the course notes to me very promptly after each lesson, which helped me to memorize better. For questions that I may have about bass, he is also quite responsive, through which I've learnt a lot. I strongly recommend Christophe, for his profession, friendliness, as well as patience and responsibility. And I'm also sure that he will be a good tutor and friend as well in your bass journey.

I just had my first-ever flute lesson with Paco, and it was an amazing experience. He is incredibly kind, patient, and a truly wonderful person. Paco is clearly a master of his craft—his deep knowledge and passion for music shine through in his teaching. I felt comfortable and inspired throughout the entire lesson, and I’m already looking forward to my next one. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn or grow as a flutist!

Rob is fantastic - warm, engaging, and patient. My 10-year-old son has been taking a weekly class with Rob for the entire school year. Rob is very responsive and communicative, so scheduling and other logistics have been smooth. He incorporates my son's interests into the lessons while building foundational skills. Rob has helped my son grow as a musician and, perhaps most importantly, maintain an enthusiasm for the process.
