Music Lessons – Harmony, Improvisation & Ear Training (Berlin – in person) I am a musician and music teacher based in Berlin. Guitarist, composer and improviser with over 25 years of experience, trained as a Musikpädagoge, I combine artistic practice with a teaching approach focused on deep musical understanding. Who the lessons are for: Intermediate and advanced musicians who want to move beyond patterns and automatisms and truly understand what they are playing. How I work: • We always start from concrete musical situations (playing, listening, improvising). • Harmony is explored through functions, tensions, modal systems, modal interchange and alterations. • Theory is treated as a practical tool, not as an abstract set of rules. • Ear training is fully integrated into the practice. • Improvisation is approached as harmonic thinking in action, with direct application to composition. Approach: My path, shaped through listening, composition and in-depth harmonic study, is reflected in a method that aims to reduce the distance between theory and practice while developing musical autonomy. Each learning path is personalized; I do not follow standardized programs. Musical notation is not central — the focus lies primarily on listening and functional understanding. Trusted teacher: Professor with a Higher Diploma in Piano from the Liceu Conservatory of Music in Barcelona and specializing in Spanish music from the Frank Marshall Academy (founded by Enrique Granados). My curriculum is comprehensive and progressive. My teaching method focuses primarily on good sight-reading, combined with refined piano technique. I also address learning difficulties such as postural problems, tension, and faulty touch. My piano technique is based on the Enrique Granados school and his specific touch-based method, emphasizing sound and proper pedal use. We will work on three basic sections: technique exercises, studies, and works from all styles (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, etc.). We will also cover music theory (theory + daily exercises from the ABSRM method), solfège, choral singing, written ear training, score analysis, and concert listening exercises. In addition to my in-person lessons, my online classes feature high-quality audio and video specifically designed for musicians: via the Zoom video call app (with settings that typically offer better sound for piano), and using OBS production software so you can clearly see the keyboard and hands from different angles. Sound is captured with Behringer stereo microphones (piano) and a separate microphone for vocals, and multiple screens are used to combine sheet music, explanation, and real-time demonstration. The goal is to make the online lesson as close as possible to an in-person class. I have 30 years of experience as a teacher. Lessons are personalized to each student's needs, for all levels and ages (children and adults).

Now it is my turn to share. I have been teaching for a few years and I love watching my students develop, enjoy the cello, learn new things, and become better at expressing themselves in the universal language of music. Whether you are a complete beginner or an intermediate/advanced level player, I would be happy to offer my guidance and perspective on anything you want to work on and improve. Aside from the technical part of the playing process, I can also be helpful in talking about performance anxiety, specifics of the music major education, preparation for auditions, building up your social media, etc. Contact me to set a lesson using the form below and I look forward to meeting you! Studio Policy This policy is in place to protect the student, the parent of the student, and the teacher and serves to ensure that lessons run smoothly. Lessons/Payment: Students may enroll in lessons at any time. Lessons will take place at the teacher’s studio in Vienna, Austria. Online lessons are facilitated using Skype/Facetime/Zoom. Tuition is paid monthly and is calculated by multiplying the lesson rate by 4 weeks (3 or 5 weeks for certain months). Additional lessons are allowed based on the teacher’s availability. If I am traveling for a big portion of the month, I will let you know in advance, so that the tuition for that month is multiplied by the number of weeks I will be at home. Single lessons in the form of a consultation or master class are available if you are not ready to commit to a monthly package. If you have special circumstances that prevent you from taking weekly lessons or traveling to my studio, please contact me directly and I will do my best to accommodate your situation. Tuition is to be paid at least 24 hours in advance of the first lesson of each month. Tuition is payable through Apprentus. For the consultation/single lesson, a one-time lesson fee is to be paid at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled lesson. Your timely payment serves as a confirmation of our time agreement. If I do not hear from you nor get the payment at least 24 hours before the lesson, I reserve the right to reschedule and/or cancel the scheduled lesson. Tardiness: The student will contact the teacher by phone if they expect to be late for a scheduled lesson. If a student arrives after their scheduled lesson time has begun, the teacher will complete the lesson in the remaining portion of the time slot. Additional time for student tardiness is not guaranteed. If the teacher arrives after a scheduled lesson has begun, the teacher will give additional time past the time slot to compensate for their tardiness with mutual acceptance of the student’s schedule. Rescheduling/Cancellations: Students must cancel/reschedule lessons by phone or email with at least 24-hour notice. Cancellations are considered excused for illness, family emergency, or severe weather (public school closures). Excused cancellations with sufficient notification will be given a make-up lesson within the month or lesson credit towards the following month. No-shows, cancellations without sufficient notification, or unexcused cancellations will not be given make-up lessons or lesson credits. The teacher may need to cancel a lesson due to illness or a family emergency and/or reschedule due to performance engagements or planned vacations. In this case, the teacher will provide a make-up lesson within the month or apply a lesson credit towards the following month. If desired, the make-up lesson can also be taken online via Skype. If a student cancels a re-scheduled make-up lesson, the lesson will be considered forfeited. Make-up lessons are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. If a make-up lesson is not possible, a lesson credit will be applied toward the following month. Copyright/class recordings: Lessons and seminars are considered intellectual property and may not be recorded (audio or video). The teacher is legally protected in case of a breach of this agreement. The teacher is entitled to immediate termination of the lesson/package without a refund if this rule is broken. The teacher is entitled to legal action in case of copyright infringement. Parental Involvement for younger students: I do not teach children below the age of 10 via Skype as they require hands-on work to form correct playing habits and posture. Students 10 years and younger must have a parent or guardian present at the lesson. The parent will take notes and act as the student’s “home teacher”. Parental involvement is welcomed and strongly encouraged for all students, but not required for students 10 years and older.

Violin and Viola lessons 🎻 with a professional teacher for all ages and levels (Amsterdam)

I studied the violin for about 2 months with Fermin and I have grown much in my knowledge of not just how to play but how to think when playing. Fermin has also helped a lot with technical struggles allowing me to break through some of the challenges that were bothering me for a long time. He is a very patient teacher but he will not hesitate to stop you and correct you (as any good teacher would) if you are not playing correctly. I personally requested that he gives me honest feedback which really helped me play better tecnically and musically. I believe he will be open to adapting his strictness upon specific requests. The time difference (Fermin being in Spain and I being in the US) has not been easy but Fermin was very willing to bend his schedule and provided several time slots to accommodate my availability. To sum up, if you are looking for a teacher that is patient in character yet unrelenting toward the goal of fully tapping your potential both musically and tecnically, I would recommend you take a lesson with Fermin.

I've been having singing classes with Kat for almost 6 months. I'm enjoying so much going to class with her once a week ! My goal is to get to know my voice, have fun, understand how it all works ; and Kat is amazing for adapting her exercices to your level ! She is supporting me in my comfort zone and also challenging me enough to evolve a bit more each time we meet. She is gifted with patience and humour, I can tell. You'll always get the meaning of the exercice she's asking you to do, which helps having an overview of what's happening in class. Thanks again Kat for all those breathing breaks in my week ! :)
