I am Keith, a Hong Kong percussionist based in Amsterdam and currently finishing my master degree in the Conservatory van Amsterdam. I have won several major international competitions and have great experience in performing. I have also taught privately and conducted masterclasses to inspire the next generation of percussionists. The best thing of being a percussionist is that you can play and find music anytime anywhere! Whether if it's a timpani or your comb, you can produce so many different sounds and exciting rhythm. With one technique, you can almost play anything! If you are a total beginner with music, percussion is one of the easiest way into it. Instruments sound nice already when you play them. Lessons start from knowing the pulse and developing your groove, to knowing the notes and establishing basic musicality. Then slowly you will explore the vast sound world of percussion, starting with drums, mallets instrument or any objects that you can think of! If you are looking for more help in excelling in your craft, my professional experience can offer you great guidance and advice, no matter if it's technically or artistically, or even stage presence and healthy mindset. My ultimate goal in teaching is to motivate my students to find joy and confidence through music. A: With similar technique, you can play mallets instruments like marimba which has a warm healing sound, or orchestral instruments like triangle or tambourine. Trusted teacher: As a Cambridge University graduate in the Faculty of Education, I am delighted to have settled down in the Netherlands since September 2019. I started piano at the age of 5, and music has been an important part of my life ever since. Classically trained as a violinist, I picked up another instrument named Erhu (Chinese violin) and became a professional performer. I am experienced in teaching both children and adults, from different cultural backgrounds. Also, I have been actively involved in both Western and Chinese orchestra since high school. Thanks to my years of experience in being an orchestra member and soloist, I am also familiar with orchestral music. As a humble music therapist, I am passionate about music and believe in the power of music. I trust that music is in everybody and I respect every student's individuality and thus tailor my teaching methods to develop my students' full potential. I started teaching in 2009 and most students put their trust in me when they first decided to learn an instrument. I also enjoy exploring the world of music with students with learning disabilities. I am proud to say, my students, aged from 5 to 60, are enthusiastic in playing the instrument they have chosen and keen to improve their skills following my advice. I adopt a flexible approach in teaching - I believe every student is unique and my job is to develop the strengths and improve the weaknesses. I put a lot of emphasis on a solid foundation in my teaching. For young children, I tend to use a more interactive approach to explain complicated music theories, yet strict in the fundamentals such as posture and rhythm. For adults, I am always happy to discuss with them my lesson plan and choose the best exercises and songs that suit their music interests and needs. For my students who would like to take exams, I am happy to tailor the lessons based on their progress. I believe in the quality of learning and understanding rather than the number of pieces that they learn. Many beginners and their parents have put their trusts in me and achieved distinction in their first ABRSM exam. I am fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, and a native speaker of Cantonese Chinese. You'll learn to read music, tap rhythm, use both hands simultaneously, play loudly and softly, recognize chords, and much more. Playing the piano is a true art, but almost anyone can learn it! With regular practice, you'll surprise yourself. We start with a solid foundation, such as proper posture, hand position, reading music, and playing in tempo. For advanced students, the focus is on articulation, dynamics, phrasing, and how to play in a classical or popular style. My lessons emphasize rhythm and expression. It's not about being able to play something incredibly fast, but about being able to play a piano piece with feeling and in the right rhythm. I'm now 41 and have been playing piano since I was 8. I started with simple pieces and took lessons from various teachers, including Sherry van Baaren. In Enschede, I studied with the Russian pianist Mikhail Markov for the correct interpretation of classical music such as Mozart sonatas and romantic pieces. All of this has led me to now teach piano myself and also to write my own piano method. I work as a teacher at an international primary school in the Netherlands and am used to working with children aged 3-12. I took a package of 5 lessons with Christiaan this summer. I wanted to understand how to use oil paint better. With Christiaan, we rapidly get to the point of the technical aspects of oil paint. He taught me the concept of layering in wet to wet and showed me examples of this in his current artwork. Christiaan is passionate about art and loves teaching! Highly recommended.

Booked a private parkour lesson for my son during a visit to Amsterdam , Ludovic was very accommodating in making arrangements. Rory absolutely loved the session, which was adjusted really well to his level of experience. He came away hot and sweaty and wanting to stay longer. Lovely instructor, would definitely look him up is visiting Amsterdam again
