Hello! My name is Kyeung-Sun, and I am a professional opera singer and music educator from South Korea. I specialize in classical voice training, opera coaching, and piano lessons for students of all ages and levels. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music and a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance. I have performed major opera roles and have extensive experience in classical singing, vocal technique, and music education. I will continue my studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts (Roosevelt University) in the Professional Diploma in Opera program. My lessons are tailored to each student’s age, experience, and goals. Children (7–12 years old) For younger students, lessons focus on building confidence while making learning fun. We begin with simple vocal warm-ups and ear training to develop pitch and intonation, then move on to singing their favourite songs, encouraging good vocal habits in an enjoyable way. Teenagers (12-17 years old) With teenage students, we start with more structured vocal warm-ups and exercises. As we discover their natural voice, we work on developing a comfortable vocal range, improving technique, and applying these skills through songs that suit their voice and interests. Adults and seniors (18+) For adult students, lessons are usually divided into two parts. We begin with vocal technique, focusing on breathing, diaphragm support, scales, arpeggios, and intonation. We then apply these techniques through singing, helping you develop confidence, control, and healthy vocal habits. I will give you repertoire to study or we will study the pieces you have to prepare. The final goal will be to sing on a musical accompaniment. Every student learns at a different pace. Some may spend more time building a solid technical foundation before moving on to more challenging repertoire, and that’s perfectly fine. My priority is to ensure that every student feels comfortable, supported, and confident throughout their vocal journey. I teach children, teenagers, and adults and seniors from complete beginners to advanced singers. My classical training provides a strong technical foundation that can be applied to any musical style, whether you enjoy pop, musical theatre, jazz, rock, or classical singing. I am a professional opera singer, soprano, and current soloist at the Cologne Opera (Oper Köln, Germany), with stage experience at major European houses including Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Musiktheater Pforzheim, and Dutch Touring Opera. Passionate about the performing arts, I have worked in theatre, dance and music. I began my singing career with musical theatre and then opera. I teach alongside my stage activities because it is a joy to share the love of singing, a discipline that is rich physically, artistically and mentally. Every voice is unique, and it's important to adapt to each student's personality, desires, and background. I enjoy exploring and researching with my students to help them bring out and develop their voices to the fullest extent of their abilities. My courses are based on 3 main principles: - Vocal technique: developing a healthy and solid technique, giving confidence and freedom while singing. Breathing, muscle support, stretching and vocal range homogeneity, agility... - Musicality: ear training, sense of rhythm, phrasing, exploration of vocal nuances and colors - Interpretation: Text work, projection, repertoire discovery, song construction I divide the sessions into half an hour of technical exercises adapted to the level and needs, then another half hour devoted to learning a piece.

I also completed training in polyvagal theory, which enriched my understanding of the links between breath, bodily sensations, and voice. Breathing, relaxation, and vibration exercises can therefore be integrated into the course to prepare the body and promote freer vocal expression. 🎶 Develop a natural and projected voice The goal is to find a natural projection of the voice, without forcing or creating unnecessary tension, by progressively working on the coordination between breathing, body and vocal production.
