We choose the repertoire together and work together towards developing your voice, your expressivity, text and style interpretation at your fullest potential. I have experience teaching several music genres, from classical, jazz, pop, folk music and even extended vocal techniques like growls. I am quite open to the students requests and always willing to research deeper and expand my vocal vocabulary. Singing is a vulnerable, intimate and also communal act. Sadly, our modern world has mystified it into the sphere of the "born-talent" ideal, which often scares people from even trying to sing. I find this phenomena a cruel and exclusivist perspective on singing. I consider singing an universal right, and we should all be unashamed of singing, be it in your bathtub, while walking on the street, in a dinner with friends, or in the next open stage at your local bar. Joana is a very talented, dedicated and experienced teacher! She is attentive, patient, passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, creative and encouraging!
