Trusted teacher: Talking, singing, reciting, making sounds puts us in a vulnerable position. These situations of representation arouse all kinds of emotions: fear, restraint, anxiety, stage fright, disappointment, anger, discouragement, panic Taking the time to feel, to receive the emotions that emerge in us, is the cornerstone of the art of singing. As this experience is lived and relived, a comfort settles in us. It is a moving, liberating experience to discover your voice and let go of inhibitions in the face of your personal expression. Together, we will learn in a fun way and through breathing exercises, vocal and body stretching, to take advantage of this magic “organ” that is the voice, to evolve. Thanks to this personal approach, the relationship with oneself and life changes. The voice changes, it is better experienced, better loved, and the feeling of strangeness experienced in front of it disappears. The personality of the individual is integrated into speech and the arts of expression. "Singing, this art that repairs! »Experience and training: - 1 st prize in song - opera, flute, music by chamber at the Royal Conservatories of Music of Brussels and Mons, B. - soloist at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Brussels. - Invited by the Lille Opera, F., then by the Vlaamse Opera Van Gent, for a solo recital. - professor of musical awakening and instrument making within the Jeunesses Musicales of Brussels and Brabant Wallon. - trainer of child leaders, graduated by ICC, Brussels. - professor of song, choral song, flute, musical awakening, in academies and private schools. “The voice has a special fascination because it is an instrument that everyone has, and that it depends on the physical and emotional state of the artist. Trusted teacher: I am singer, classically trained with a main focus in early music and voice embodiment. I also studied recorder, clarinet and musicology. As a teacher and performer, I focus on a joyful, healthy and technically skilled way of singing. I focus not only on the sound production, but also on body posture, relaxation and organic movement. An happy and relaxed body creates a beautiful, natural and relaxed sound. We choose the repertoire together and work together towards developing your voice, your expressivity, text and style interpretation at your fullest potential. I have experience teaching several music genres, from classical, jazz, pop, folk music and even extended vocal techniques like growls. I am quite open to the students requests and always willing to research deeper and expand my vocal vocabulary. Singing is a vulnerable, intimate and also communal act. Sadly, our modern world has mystified it into the sphere of the "born-talent" ideal, which often scares people from even trying to sing. I find this phenomena a cruel and exclusivist perspective on singing. I consider singing an universal right, and we should all be unashamed of singing, be it in your bathtub, while walking on the street, in a dinner with friends, or in the next open stage at your local bar. We all have the capacity and the right to sing. If anybody has told you that you can't sing, they were wrong. Like any skill, you can learn it. And if you sing, you, your body, and your soul will be happier. One of my students once said: "You come for a singing lesson and you discover something new about who you are". I think that would summarize well the space I try to create in my lessons.

Trusted teacher: [ENGLISH BELOW] I offer private lessons, adapted to the needs and experiences of each person to find your voice as an artist. Graduated in lyrical singing (New Zealand School of Music), I also have a background as an artist-author (pop/rock) and singer of traditional Scottish and folk music. The music begins as soon as the song is performed; you don't have to wait until you reach a specific level! This is why we work on interpretation directly in my classes, always linked to pedagogy to develop the right vocal techniques to protect and boost your voice. We begin each class with warm-up exercises, muscle activation and body relaxation, as well as educational exercises adapted to your needs. Then we work on one or more songs. I encourage experienced adults to come in with their voice already warmed up, but it's not at all necessary if that's not possible for you! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I offer vocal coaching in English or French, adapted to your needs as an artist. My teaching is based on pedagogy studied at the New Zealand School of Music (Bachelor of Music and Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Voice), and I have experience singing and teaching in pop/rock styles, as well as folk and Scottish Trad. I believe that the music starts as soon as we start really interpreting the song, and not once we've reached a certain level. This means that we'll also approach a song with musicality, of course with pedagogy informing a good technique to protect your voice, and enable it to do what you want it to do, musically! Each lesson or coaching session starts with exercises to warm up your voice, as well as relaxing and engaging the muscles in your body to help support your sound. We then will work on the songs themselves! Adults with experience are warmly encouraged to arrive already warmed up and ready to go, but we often lead busy lives, and it's no problem if this isn't possible.

Maria is a fantastic teacher. She has in-depth knowledge about singing and how to control the voice. Indeed she led me through the lesson very patiently, naturally, pedagogically and professionally despite my insecurities. I loved it, and I am already looking forward to the next lessons.
