Hello, my name is Marlou. I was nine years old when I first held a guitar. It was love at first sight. I always have my guitar with me. I've been teaching for ten years, and after a year of lessons, one of my students uttered the unforgettable line: "My guitar is my soulmate." With a guitar, you have a friend for life. I want everyone to experience that. Everyone learns differently. Some people want to learn notes and visualize sheet music, while others play by ear. Some want to hear a song first and sing it without a guitar, while others want to play along right away. It's all possible. In your first lesson, you can tell me what you want to learn, and I tailor my lessons accordingly. After each lesson, I'll give you exercises to practice at home. The more you practice at home, the faster we'll progress. If you'd like, you can record the lesson so you can listen to it again at home and practice along with it. I'll teach you all the basic chords. I'll pay close attention to your guitar posture and the way you place your hands and fingers on the guitar. The better you master the basic chords, the easier it will be to learn new and more complex things later. I can also teach you how to strum the guitar. And if you're interested, I can teach you how to read music. If you'd like to learn to sing while you perform, I can teach you simple tricks to make singing easier. I'm not a singing teacher, but thanks to my initial training in speech therapy, CVT (Complete Vocal Training) singing lessons, and my stage experience as a singer, I have extensive knowledge of learning proper breathing and training your breath support. I can also teach you how to overcome your shyness, if that's your problem. Playing and singing at the same time will then become a lot of fun.

My name is Milica Janković. I’m a trained jazz vocalist with over 10 years of experience in music. I’m currently in my final year at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, specializing in Jazz Vocals and working across styles like jazz, pop, folk, and classical music. I began my musical journey in Serbia, singing in a choir at the age of seven. At 19, I created a music format called "Glas Dirka Bass" for a Serbian TV channel, supported by United Group. This gave me valuable experience in music production, media, and public performance. Over the past five years, I’ve recorded more than 400 songs, combining studio work, live performance, and academic study. As a vocal coach, I help students build strong technique, explore improvisation, and develop their personal sound. I focus on breath, posture, and vocal health, while also working on musical expression, confidence, and stage presence. SING WITH MARIO! The 45-minute vocal performance class (held in a studio room) entails a multidimensional approach that focuses on vocal technique, performative mindset and artistic skills for singers, also offering numerous opportunities for vocal competitions around the world (through the World Association of Performing Arts, WAPA). In addition to Mario's 17 years of experience on stage and on camera, he has professional experience as a vocal coach. A lesson with Mario begins with vocal warm-up exercises (10 minutes); then, all vocal/performative/artistic skills are being taught through singing a song of the child/teenager's choice (30 minutes). The class ends with evaluation, advice and suggestion of exercises (5 minutes) so that the student can practice at home until the next class. If you are a parent and would like to introduce your child to the art of music, Mario will create a fun learning environment and make the classes interesting, dynamic and entertaining. Water, tea, candies, or any other drink/snacks that your child would like will be provided for inspiration! The classical/contemporary pan flute has developed only in the last 20 years which concluded with composers writing for this instrument and educators to develop a teaching program. The instrument has been very famous in world music for centuries, therefore the oral transmission played and still plays an important role in teaching and developing the techniques of the instrument. I've been teaching the pan flute for 4 years and playing the instrument for more than 14 years with experience in different styles: folk, classic and contemporary My style is based on demonstration, involving the student in the process of understanding the techniques of the instrument as well as the reasons behind certain musical styles in order to help them achieve confidence and a better interpretation. I use most of the time the brainstorming strategy to help students generate questions and ideas and get creative like in improvising, writing their own melodies, etc. In matters of musical interpretation, I encourage experimenting with phrases, musical colors, rhythms, musical direction, and music analysis.

My name is Polly and I am a professional opera singer. I am currently performing as a Young Artist with Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam as part of their brand new Studio Programme. Alongside performing, I have a passion for teaching classical singing to students of all ages and abilities. As a newcomer to Amsterdam, I am looking to build my teaching studio and to share my love of singing! Whether you sing purely for your own enjoyment, are preparing for a big audition or performance, or simply just want to know more about how the human voice works, I am here to help! I previously trained at the Royal College of Music (MPerf, Distinction) and the National Opera Studio in London, as well as working for opera companies including Opera Holland Park, Royal Opera House, Pop-Up Opera, Charles Court Opera, and British Youth Opera. I also achieved ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Voice (both Distinction), so I am able to provide piano accompaniment in lessons. Prior to my Masters training at the RCM, I studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (BSc Hons) at Durham University, which included modules in Animal Physiology. I am therefore fascinated by and have a deep understanding of how the human voice functions. I teach using the SATS model devised by my teacher Janice Chapman, which uses evidence-based science to teach the fundamentals of classical singing. So, no matter what stage you are in your vocal training, I will be able to help to build and strengthen your vocal technique and help you towards vocal freedom and experience true joy in your singing! Languages I sing in include English, Italian, German, French, and, to a lesser extent, Czech and Russian. I have received the input of many world-class language coaches over the years, so I am happy to coach you through the sounds and meaning of texts in these languages.
