About the method: At first we always warm up with breathing and singing exercises to work on the technique and articulation. The duration of this depends on your experience and requirements. In the other part of the lesson we work on the respective piece. To me: I am the singer of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Choir and a musicologist. Classically trained, I can also sing jazz, soul and pop. In the past, I have performed as a soloist in the gospel choir, at city festivals, birthday parties, weddings and company events for years and continue to do so occasionally.

I have different kind of lessons: 1. Face-to-face lessons of modern singing Modern singing: technique, improvisation and repertoire The face-to-face classes take place at a studio in Prenzlauer Berg and are mainly aimed at adults and teenagers who want to learn music. They have a duration of 50 minutes. In singing classes, breathing and vocal technique are worked through warm-up exercises, always with the aim of working the voice in a healthy and correct way. My classes are mainly focused on the repertoire of the student’s preferred style, which can be pop, soul, jazz, blues, bossa nova, tango and bolero, among others. Each style is worked differently and with the appropriate resources to lead to a good interpretation. Both for warm-up and repertoire I usually accompany the student on the piano. Depending on the style sometimes I may work with karaokes. I also teach a good use of the microphone, to fight stage panic and to enjoy a performance on stage. The singing lessons are aimed at people of any level, from beginners to advanced, even to someone who is preparing an exam for an upper grade of modern music. My main objective is above all that the student feels motivated, and not under pressure. For me it is very important that the student enjoys music and the music lessons. 2. Initiation to piano: modern harmony and auditory education The piano lessons are aimed primarily at beginners. My intention is mainly to prepare my piano students so that they can later develop a more advanced style with a teacher whose main instrument is the piano. For this, I start with basic exercises for a good hand technique and with simple songs so that the student learns to read music. For those who already have a basic level, I start directly with scales and chords, mostly focusing on teaching songs in modern harmony. The main objective is the motivation of the student, avoiding pressure. For me it is very important that the student enjoys music and the music lessons. 3. Modern singing on-line lessons Modern singing on-line classes: technique, improvisation and repertoire Like face-to-face classes, online lessons last 50 minutes. They are also aimed at adults and teenagers who want to learn music and find virtual classes more comfortable, for whatever reason. The lessons are given through a virtual meeting app, either Jitsi or Zoom. They are similar to those in the classroom, with the difference that a little more time is devoted to the repertoire than to the technique. I consider of great importance that the student enjoys the lessons also in this case and does not lose motivation.

I can guide your vocal training with technical and interpretative aspects of your favorite genre. The lessons are 45 minutes long. At the beginning we do some warm-up exercises and vocal techniques, then we will listen and learn from the repertoire we chose together to best improve your vocals. They must be songs that you like and that are challenging enough to excel your learning to the next level of difficulty. For children between 4 and 6 years old, the classes are 35 minutes long. Through games or small choreographies, I intend to reinforce their attention span while they develop their hearing, musical memory, intonation, and rhythm, working to make sure the classes are dynamic and fun.

My name is Margareta, I am an opera singer, voice therapist and voice-over artist. In addition to my master's degree in music, I trained as a voice therapist and also completed further training in the Alexander technique, accent method and osteopathic techniques in voice therapy. So my life revolves around the voice. On the one hand, I offer classical singing lessons (opera, operetta, Lied, musical, rock and pop) and, on the other hand, voice therapy and voice training to prevent voice disorders and hoarseness. The main thing for me is not to use a specific method, but rather to work on each voice individually in a holistic and well-founded manner in order to develop its full vocal potential. Singing lessons are primarily about good singing technique, language coaching and assistance for more charisma and presence on stage. Through skilled training of the body and voice, you will achieve high resilience and sing at the highest level with a healthy, authentic and unique voice. This is how you become your own microphone! The most important thing: The lessons thrive on individuality and are tailored specifically to your needs and goals!

For me, singing is a direct expression of one's own personality. It's not about perfection or achievement. What I want to convey when singing is freedom, fun and authenticity, which ultimately contributes a lot to good and healthy singing. My work is very body-based and I give my students time to discover their voices. You set the pace. My lessons are aimed at all age groups from 14 years. I teach a classical singing method, because in my opinion all other styles can be linked to it. That doesn't mean you should sing pop or jazz like an opera aria. It just means that classical singing is a good and healthy basis for other styles. In the field of speech therapy, too, I am educating myself with the help of reading and research in order to ensure the health of the voice of my students. Lessons can also be held in English. If necessary, ear training, harmony theory and stage presence can also be incorporated into the lessons.

My name is Yvi. I studied music and music education and received my doctorate in musicology. I have years of experience as a music educator and look forward to working with you. I like to come to your home and always respond to my students. With me, nobody is over or under challenged. It is also important to me that my students are not afraid in class, but that the focus is on having fun with the music, because this is the only way to ensure that the instrument is optimally advanced. Many are spoiled for music lessons - that doesn't happen to me! I look forward to you all.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s age, experience, and goals. Children (7–12 years old) For younger students, lessons focus on building confidence while making learning fun. We begin with simple vocal warm-ups and ear training to develop pitch and intonation, then move on to singing their favourite songs, encouraging good vocal habits in an enjoyable way. Teenagers (12-17 years old) With teenage students, we start with more structured vocal warm-ups and exercises. As we discover their natural voice, we work on developing a comfortable vocal range, improving technique, and applying these skills through songs that suit their voice and interests. Adults and seniors (18+) For adult students, lessons are usually divided into two parts. We begin with vocal technique, focusing on breathing, diaphragm support, scales, arpeggios, and intonation. We then apply these techniques through singing, helping you develop confidence, control, and healthy vocal habits. I will give you repertoire to study or we will study the pieces you have to prepare. The final goal will be to sing on a musical accompaniment. Every student learns at a different pace. Some may spend more time building a solid technical foundation before moving on to more challenging repertoire, and that’s perfectly fine. My priority is to ensure that every student feels comfortable, supported, and confident throughout their vocal journey. I teach children, teenagers, and adults and seniors from complete beginners to advanced singers. My classical training provides a strong technical foundation that can be applied to any musical style, whether you enjoy pop, musical theatre, jazz, rock, or classical singing. Whatever your age or experience, I’d love to help you discover and develop your voice. Let’s sing!
