Trusted teacher: Let’s begin your musical journey! Perhaps this is the first time you are playing an instrument? Or you are picking it up having played it years ago. Perhaps you have a dream of where or what you would like to play...or want to improve specific skills to simply enjoy playing more. My aim is to create a path with you (or your child), to discover and develop ways to achieve your own musical goals. I offer 30-minute instrumental lessons – these are aimed at beginner students to build stamina, posture and basic playing techniques. You can combine this with an additional 30 minutes of musicianship, this is for children to build a solid foundation of musical skills –including rhythm, note reading and pitch, composition, tempo and more. Group lessons are possible for beginner players, these can be a fun and motivating way of learning together for students, however these would be regularly reviewed to ensure learning needs of each student are met. I would recommend 60-minute lessons for intermediate student/adult students – this is to work on more complex musical skills, exercises and pieces. Goals for lessons: Making music from day 1 Exploring and refining the craft of playing the instrument Setting reachable goals to build stamina, technique and musicianship Developing ‘inner ear’ with aural exercises Learning musical notation/composition Casual performance opportunities solo or in a group (if desired) Most importantly...having fun! About me... I have worked in instrument music education at schools, academies and privately for the last 12 years, whilst playing professionally as a freelance violin/viola player and conductor with orchestras, musicals and in community music settings in England. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, and base my approach on the needs of the student, using experience in different schools of music teaching - including traditional classical Suzuki and Kodaly principles to more modern day improvisation focussed educators such as Christian Howes and Bobby McFerrin. Lessons available in English and Dutch. Do get in touch if you have any questions!

Trusted teacher: Violin and viola learning for adult beginners and returning players or in the band SEE ENGLISH BELOW I have been teaching adult beginners and intermediates to play the violin and viola for 10 years. The focus is very different. One person would like to find relaxation in playing the violin. Another would like to be able to play a certain piece because he likes it. A third has picked up the violin again after a long time. I have had violin lessons for > 10 years and am currently studying viola at the Conservatory of Bolzano. I have 10 years of teaching experience. I teach classical and electric violin, always tailored to the student. The lessons can also be carried out using the Suzuki method. Based on my band experience with violin/viola, I am also a contact person if you play violin or viola in a band. Erika is a fantastic teacher and a lovely human being. Very patient, and has a creative teaching style. You can immediately tell she enjoys what she does, and this makes the sessions more entertaining. She would always go the extra mile to make things more clear. I’m absolutely grateful for her!

Julia was a great tutor! I could tell that she really cares about you doing well. One thing that I very much appreciated was the fact that throughout the lessons she would be taking notes so that she could go over some pointers with me afterwards. Danke Julia!
