Trusted teacher: I teach Old-Time fiddle, beginning and intermediate level. I prefer students who have some experience with fiddle, violin, or bowed string instruments, but I will accept students with no experience, too. To make the most of your learning experience, weekly, one-hour lessons are highly encouraged. I will teach you fiddle bowing techniques, cross tuning, low tuning, learning tunes from ear, jam etiquette, the social aspects of Old-Time music, as well as some history of the tunes and the source fiddlers. My specialty is cross-over students, especially those coming from a background in classical music. Can't get your violin to sound like a fiddle? I can help.

My name is Jaimee I have played violin since I was 9. I competed and won solo and duet competitions while attending elementary school in Temple, Texas as a child. I regularly attended and performed in Orchestra in high school and passed my audition to perform in Pasadena City College Orchestra. While attending college I realized I didn't have time to dedicate my academics as well as Orchestra. Although proving to myself that I passed a college audition is worth mentioning. Now that I am a mother I am prioritizing my love for the violin and I have the desire to share my love for such a classical instrument. My family also has a history of violin teachers in my bloodline. I also could teach electric violin if requested, bring your own amp. I have already given my two year old several violin lessons and she is now three. I have heard many people's perspectives on teaching toddlers and I find that they are the best students. It can be a challenge but in my opinion it's no different than teaching kindergarten students to obey their teachers.

Trusted teacher: This course is for viola and violin students from the beginner through the high school level, and any age from 5-99! My goal is for my students to foster a healthy and long-term relationship with their instrument. The course focuses on practicing and truly understanding technique, with an emphasis on listening. Weekly assignments tend to include technical exercises, scales, and classical pieces of the student's choice. Basic improvisation is also an interest of mine and, I find, a valuable experience for my string students. I believe repertoire is largely a matter of student taste. Students of mine have learned pieces in the Suzuki books and other classical repertoire volumes, but have also learned pop and fiddle songs according to their interest. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the University of Puget Sound, where I graduated in 2015 before moving to Vienna to study privately for three years. I am currently on hiatus from a Master of Viola Performance degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague . I have been teaching violin intermittently since 2009. While my musical education is classical, my performance interests are much wider. I have performed jazz and pop improv, and am currently exploring how hip hop can be implemented on the viola and violin.

Trusted teacher: For violin and viola students, I use a combination of the Essential Elements curriculum, the Suzuki curriculum, and I also often compose original music tailored to the learning needs of each student. I want the student’s experience to be fun as well as educational, so in addition to the curriculum exercises, I will also be sure to add in some fun pieces that the student already is familiar with and enjoys. I have learned that being immersed in the world of music is vital for being a good teacher. Musicians who only teach and do not “cross-train” by performing on their instruments regularly and continuing learning simply do not have as much to offer to their students. I pursue all of these avenues actively, not only for my own benefit, but also for that of my students. My primary goal as a teacher is to be a motivating and inspiring mentor and guide. As the famous Chinese proverb says, a teacher opens the door, but students must enter by themselves. My highest aspiration is to show my students doors that they never knew existed, and giving them the tools to go through those doors on their own.
Music lessons for children through adults in a variety of instruments-Violin/Fiddle, Piano, Voice, Guitar, and Songwriting. I also coach on a higher level for anyone needing a boost for their music career, to get out of a musical slump, or needing to set goals for their music making future.
