I have been teaching theory grades 1-5 for since 2018, with some students achieving distinction level results. I teach internationally via Skype with students in the UK, Denmark, Sweden, and the USA. Through my high level of teaching, you child will be taught how to pass the exams to the very best of their capability, with focus on the technique of the instrument, and how to perform. I have previously taught in Hill House International School, and Hampden Gurney (London). I have studied with many of the leading teachers in Europe and the USA. I started my education at Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music (London), where I studied with James Sleigh for five years. I was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and the National Youth Strings Academy. I the studied my Bachelor of Music at the Royal College of Music (London), where I studied with Andriy Viytovych. I have a Masters of Music from Trinity Laban College of Music and Dance (London), studying under Roger Chase, and a Masters in Fine Art from Gothenburg University (Sweden) with Øvyor Volle (Vertavo Quartet). I also studied in the USA at the Manhattan School of Music, New York, and Chicago College of Performing Arts. I work as a professional viola player across the UK and Scandinavia, with such orchestras as The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House (Stockholm), Bergen Philharmonic, Norwegian Radio, Gothenburg Symphony, Norrkoping Symphony, Jonkoping Sinfonietta, Aarhus Symphony, and English National Ballet Philharmonic. Trusted teacher: This course is for viola and violin students from the beginner through the high school level, and any age from 5-99! My goal is for my students to foster a healthy and long-term relationship with their instrument. The course focuses on practicing and truly understanding technique, with an emphasis on listening. Weekly assignments tend to include technical exercises, scales, and classical pieces of the student's choice. Basic improvisation is also an interest of mine and, I find, a valuable experience for my string students. I believe repertoire is largely a matter of student taste. Students of mine have learned pieces in the Suzuki books and other classical repertoire volumes, but have also learned pop and fiddle songs according to their interest. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the University of Puget Sound, where I graduated in 2015 before moving to Vienna to study privately for three years. I am currently on hiatus from a Master of Viola Performance degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague . I have been teaching violin intermittently since 2009. While my musical education is classical, my performance interests are much wider. I have performed jazz and pop improv, and am currently exploring how hip hop can be implemented on the viola and violin.

What I enjoy most about my lessons with Zachary is how personable he is. You will not find a more patient or kinder instructor. For me, I decided that I wanted to learn how to play the violin later in life. I have never played an instrument my entire life. Zachary did not make me feel like my new start was impossible and he does not patronize. These are things that I have encountered from teachers in the past.
