Trusted teacher: WANT TO LEARN TO PLAY THE VIOLIN WITH PLEASURE? CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR MUSICAL TALENT? THE VIOLIN SCHOOL IN BARENDRECHT AND RHOON VIOLIN LESSONS FROM SILVAIN A very enthusiastic violin teacher with a lot of experience in teaching all ages. The main thing is the fun of playing! Together we work on developing your skills on this beautiful instrument. Who is Silvain I am an enthusiastic, cheerful violinist and violin teacher. Graduated from the conservatories of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, I have been combining concerts and violin lessons since my studies. It is an ideal combination for me, in which I can transfer my passion for the violin to my students. My goal is to get the best out of the student at every level and age. The pleasure of playing and developing independence on the instrument are paramount! What do you learn From the very beginning we work on a good, relaxed posture. It is the basis for a free feeling on the beautiful violin to be able to produce a beautiful sound. Learning to read notes comes about through play. Depending on your musical interests, we then look for material for that. The biggest challenge is to make a beautiful story out of every melody. Together we will increase your playing skills as quickly as possible! The violin lesson In a nice classroom in Barendrecht and Rhoon I teach children from the age of three. Adults are also very welcome to make a long-cherished wish come true. The lessons last half an hour or longer and are individual for the most personal attention possible. Many students of the Violin School also play in an orchestra. There are also students who have made it their profession. There are regular performances to be able to show what you have learned, if you wish. The lesson conditions I have competitive rates and flexible lesson conditions. You are not tied to an annual contract and if you are unable to attend, we will look for another lesson time in consultation. Feel free to make an appointment for a trial lesson. You are very welcome! Want to know more?
Violin
For me, violin lessons are about more than just learning notes - it's about expressing your inner world through music. My name is Ann, a Finnish violinist and dedicated teacher based in Charlois, Rotterdam. I enjoy guiding students of all ages, both beginners and advanced players, toward confident and expressive music-making. What to expect? My approach is friendly, motivating, and focused on building a strong musical foundation. Whether you’re picking up the violin for the first time or looking to develop existing skills, I tailor each lesson to your goals, interests, learning pace, and personality. My lessons are available in English, German, and Finnish. Additionally, I speak a little bit of Spanish, Swedish, and Dutch. Trial lesson A trial lesson is a relaxed opportunity to get to know each other, try the instrument, and talk about your ambitions, favorite music, and practical details such as scheduling and location. No violin yet? You’re welcome to borrow one of mine during the trial, and I can help you choose or rent a suitable instrument. Classical, tango and other music styles Alongside classical music, I have a specialization in Argentinian tango music. I also have a lot of experience on performing and teaching other music styles such as contemporary, Latin, folk music and pop. My background I hold a Master of Music from Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam. My earlier studies took place in Oulu, Helsinki, and Porvoo (Finland). In addition to teaching, I perform actively across Europe, collaborating with symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles. I’m also co-founder of The Cosmopolitan String Quartet and Zenanns Duo.
Violin
Violin private (or small group) lessons are offered in classical, traditional, and rebetiko violin, classical theory, Makam theory and improvisation for all ages, from beginners to advanced levels. The lessons are taught by a qualified violinist (Degree in classical violin, Orfeio conservatory of Athens, Greece) and bachelor student of CODARTS Academy (Rotterdam, Netherlands) - World music (Ottoman violin) with four years of teaching experience. There is also the option to learn theory, solfège. Bio: Yvonne was born in Kavala in 1998. She began her violin studies at the age of seven under the guidance of Z. Zlateva. She studied classical violin and music theory and obtained her diploma with "highest honors" in 2022 from the Orpheus Conservatory in Athens, under the guidance of her teachers, M. Plesti and D. Semsis. Since 2023, she has been a student at Codarts WMDC (Rotterdam, Netherlands), pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Turkish music-Ottoman violin (teacher: Burak Savas). She has been a member of many orchestras as well as various music ensembles and workshops (music ensemble with A. Liakakis and T. Gouvelis, classical violin with M. Szlezer, experimental violin with F. Siotas, composition and orchestration with V. Papadopoulos, oriental violin with G. Papaioannou, M. Kouloumis, composition and orchestration with C. Erdogan, M. Nasser, Y. Tockan, G. Baktagir, Kudsi Erguner’s ensemble, Greek traditional music with M. Mavroidi, folk orchestra with M. Pappou, etc.) and has performed on some of the most important music stages in the country. She has composed music for dance performances and short films. Additionally, she is a graduate student at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her first album, titled "Myrra," with T. Kofodimos, was released in December 2023. She has taught classical violin at the Pefki Municipal Conservatory, the Athens Conservatory, the Trofonio Conservatory of Livadeia, and has four years of experience teaching private lessons to students of all ages. My idea: Each lesson is unique and tailored to the student's needs. We can adjust the lesson according to what each person desires: from classical technique, exercises, and repertoire, to Maqam theory, taqsim, traditional/rebetiko/Ottoman repertoire, and of course, improvisation. My fundamental principle is that technique comes first, but what's important is that musical knowledge is not sterile but enjoyable. I achieve this through a variety of repertoire, a pleasant atmosphere, and especially through group playing, both among ourselves and with other students and musicians.

My private violin lesson with Ester was absolutely perfect. I had a privilege to hear Ester play her violin and she is so good- it is crazy to think I was able to learn from her. She is also such a good teacher. Full of knowlege and patience- which is, in my opinion, a rare combination. I had no prior musical education and this was my first real music lesson. Ester managed to teach me basic note reading, correct violin holding and even playing my first tunes. Her explainations are very clear and easy to understand. And her approach is very friendly. She is also a very nice person and easy to talk to. I wish we lived in the same city so I could keep studying playing violin with Ester- that's how good she is. Lidia

Estella is a very positive, always happy teacher. Even though my son has been having on-line lessons with her, we can always feel her positive attitude during the lessons. She is very patient, gives lots of important tips and feedback, which has been helping him to guide his learning, improving in every aspect of it. We can see how much she care about the whole learning experience. It’s been very useful to expend his time while at home doing the lessons. He has been practicing more and has been feeling more motivated since he started the lessons with her. We definitely recommend her as a Saxophone teacher!
