Trusted teacher: Young Pianist from Maldegem. This year he is completing his second master's degree at the Royal Conservatory in Mons. teaching is my number one priority! I would like to contribute to the fun and the ultimate ease of play for the little ones, people who are preparing to go to a conservatory and the motivated amateur. background Aaron born in Ghent on May 3, 1996. At the age of 8 he started at the music academy in Gentbrugge with solfège and piano with Mrs. Katrien Mazijn and private lessons with Mrs. Flora Vanmarcke. Trusted teacher: I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.

I've been taking online jazz piano lessons from John for over a month. Despite living on opposite ends of the planet, I've been having a seamless learning experience online and am thoroughly enjoying each lesson. John has a deep knowledge of jazz music and a very friendly personality. We adapt each lesson to whatever I'm burning to learning about and/or whatever blind spot John notices in my playing. I'm provided with sheet music summaries of each lesson that help me structure my practice each week, and I always feel encouraged to learn more. Can't recommend him enough as a teacher!

It's a joy to work with Katie, she has a lovely personality and a very flexible teaching style. Apart from being a good pianist I value the fact that she is able to put music into context. She has the ability to comprehend and clearly explain the underlying musical dynamics of a piece, which allows her students to not only become better pianist but also better listeners and interpreters of music. Katie is the perfect guide for those wanting to gain a deeper understanding of music altogether.

I think that learning as an adult is a bit challenging. However, Santiago's classes are fun and it feels easy to learn. I feel I am progressing and I enjoy the lessons. Also, in every class, I discover something new about music! He is also relaxed while teaching which helps a lot when I make mistakes. I love learning with him :)
