I can offer lessons in piano and music theory, or a combination of both. In recent years, I have developed my own pedagogical approach to music theory that focuses on play, improvisation and hearing. Concepts are explained through specific music examples, where we build understanding gradually adapted to the student's level. I include simple exercises in improvisation where we play together. In piano lessons, the focus is on practice technique so that the student can learn effectively on his own. Teaching is tailored to the student's interests and level, and many different ways of working can be explored. For example, there may be a focus on note-based music, chord-based music or improvisation, or a combination of these. The most important thing is that we follow the students interests whatever they may be, this is to ensure that learning and motivation is not dependent on the teacher. The goal should be that you develop independence to drive your own development. Uansett er målet at eleven får verktøy til å øve selvstendig, og at musikkgleden alltid er tilstede. Det er alt for mange som slutter å spille den dagen de ikke har lærer lenger. Målet mitt er at dette ikke skjer, og at eleven blir trygg nok til å drive sin egen utvikling over tid.

I also provide training for people who prepare for exams to enter music schools. For beginners: We will listen to various types of music, and I will provide various methods for you to find the most natural way to get familiar with the piano. By knowing what you want to hear, your body will do exactly what you want it to be. And that's our goal. For intermediate: We will expand your repertoire. The lesson will be customized by your needs, we will find the best way for you to learn more! If you have problems playing, we will solve it together too! For advanced students: We will find the most efficient and natural way for you to practice. And assign a periodic plan which fits you well and make sure that we will achieve your goal. I will also help you to see the music from different perspectives.

The lessons take place in central Oslo, just a 5-minute walk from Oslo Central Station, on a beautiful Essex grand piano made by Steinway & Sons, which provides an inspiring sound and playing experience. There is an optional student concert every year for those who wish to showcase their progress.

Students are encouraged to try, fail, and overall be proactive in learning new information in bite-sized chunks: all of that in a warm and comforting environment.
