About Me

Patience, a balance between rigour and flexibility for students of all profiles and ambitions.

I don't have a single methodology, in the sense that I don't have a pre-defined programme: I observe how the student is developing, their motivations, ambitions and personal tastes, and from this I deduce pieces to suggest or specific, tailored advice on how to work. My aim is to develop a personalised relationship with the student, rather than imposing a framework: there are no essential works, no essential method, and above all no single way of looking at regular practice of the instrument.

My approach to teaching is based on the individual character of each student, because each person has his or her own perception of music and, above all, does not absorb teaching in the same way.
My role is to adapt to different personalities and to take advantage of their strengths and 'combat' their weaknesses...
The lesson is also a meeting place, because to make good progress in this subject you need a connection between student and teacher, and that's essential!

To sum up, I recommend a good understanding, a sense of humour and a relaxed attitude to make the most of progress and enjoy playing.

Good session wirh Marco
...
Hello, My name is Marco, and I invite you to pass on my passion for the guitar, and more broadly for music. Music brings a lot. Whether it's emotions, personal satisfaction, moments of grace, whether you're a spectator or on stage, encounters and exchanges that are so interesting with other musicians... My goal is to send you enough motivation and pleasure so that you never give up on this inexhaustible source of joy and discovery. To achieve this, my main tool, as in music, will be listening. Listening to you, understanding what you dream of achieving, then helping you get there, this is my method. So my experience and my knowledge will allow us to approach the styles that interest you: Songs, Pop, Rock, Folk, Fingerstyle, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Bossa nova, Samba... as much as to accompany you in your own creations . So during our first session we will discuss the artists and guitarists who are close to our hearts. If you already know songs, you can play them for me, easily, without stress, and for the most advanced among you, it will even be an opportunity to jam. Whether it's for you or your child, whether you're a student or a retiree, I'm interested in all profiles, because everyone can have fun learning to play the guitar. See you soon ! Marco

Explore the language of musical notation and learn how to translate your musical ideas onto paper. You will be encouraged to compose original pieces, giving voice to your inspirations and personal experiences.

Piano, music theory and musical appreciation
Pianist student at the HEM in Geneva offers piano lessons as well as music theory! Basic elementary and intermediate level I also propose a part to speak about the musical appreciation of all the periods of the history of the music. For all ages! These will be lessons to work on the piano (beginners and intermediate) while we talk about music theory (harmony, music theory, analysis, etc.) and also a time to listen to recordings and talk about musical appreciation. Besides classical education, I also work with jazz pieces and pop music. It's an hour to have fun, learn and discover. I have over five years of experience teaching piano and music theory, with children, youth and adults. I can move to the student's home (Lausanne and Canton of Vaud) and I am flexible with weekly schedules. I adapt to each student and situation! Classes can be given in French, Spanish or English.

Piano Lessons in Classical and Contemporary Styles for Beginning-Advanced Levels (ages 6 and up)
Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

I am a Spanish pianist and composer (MMus graduate from Codarts Rotterdam in both directions) with many years of teaching experience, and also very active in performing in various contexts. I give private piano lessons for all levels and styles (classical, jazz, Latin, new age, pop...), as well as music theory, composition and improvisation lessons. My lessons are distinguished by their dynamics, practical approach and adaptation to the needs and interests of the student. The lessons (live or online) take place in my studio next to the Maastunnel, where I have a premium stage piano and a top-quality webcam setup. I speak Dutch at an intermediate level, which is improving every day.

Ilan
Concert pianist graduated from the CNSM of Paris and Yale University gives piano lessons for all levels
I have a diploma from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris (CNSMDP) as well as a diploma from Yale University. Having won several international competitions, I have regularly been invited to participate in festivals as a soloist or in chamber music, both in France and abroad. In 2020, I recorded a CD dedicated to Frédéric Chopin. My classes are open to all levels. Whatever your experience, I will be able to adapt to your needs.

John
Professional jazz musician teaching jazz, blues, funk, R&B, pop, rock, latin and classical piano.
I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instil a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.

Piano lessons for all levels and ages. Relaxed teaching approach!
I have over 12 years of teaching experience and I have been working as a Professional Pianist for 7 years now, in 8 different countries (Switzerland, Austria, Iceland, Spain etc.) and on Luxury Cruise Ships (Worldwide). I can show you how to have fun with the piano. If you're a beginner, I can take you right from step one and have you playing familiar songs by the 1st or 2nd lesson. If you already have some experience, I can add to it. My main goal is helping you achieving your goals and preparing the best lesson for you! I've been playing and studying piano since age 6 (over 25 years ago). I began with classical music, and later added Ragtime, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, and Chord theory. I earned a Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance, Classical Music (4 years). I have participated in numerous Piano Masterclasses in Europe and I studied with great pianists. I still learn from different Highly Accomplished Musicians, I believe learning never stops. I have much to share with my students. TEACHING STYLE I am a very patient teacher. I love teaching all ages. I don't teach everyone the same way. I tailor lessons according to individual goals and needs. I insist on the importance of technique and musicality. I also guide all my students even outside of the teaching time, by responding to all their questions (music theory or technical) and sending them videos. I teach how to prevent Piano Injuries by focusing on proper technique, posture, and practice habits. My professional experience includes coaching students of all levels and ages. I successfully prepared the students with their Piano Exams like ABRSM, Trinity Grade, from grade 1-8, with merits and distinctions, and more advanced exams as well (Performance Diplomas). I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old and my youngest one has 3 years old. They made great progress, I am sure you could do the same. I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano. I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation. I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons. CURRICULUM I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years. For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs. Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible. I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music. Piano/Keyboard - Alfred , Hal Leonard, Abrsm Grade (1-8), Trinity Grade (1-8), Hanon etc. I begun taking piano lessons with Gabriel to brush up my skills and and to better understand music before pursuing a graduate degree into a French conservatory. Since the very first piano class with Gabriel, I became very enthusiastic about practicing and due to his patience and clarity to explain musical phrases, theory and interpretation rules, I started to feel and to understand better what I was playing. I warmly recommend Gabriel as a piano tutor to everyone willing to enrich his piano practice! His international experience as a pianist brings to his teaching methods a lot of patience and adaptability.
