Trusted teacher: - Do you want to start playing music but have little to no knowledge? - Are you struggling with the theoretical aspect of you music lessons? - Would you like to receive personalised help from a passionate young musician? Often considered a tiresome burden, music theory is to music what grammar is to language. It is a tool, a code that allows us to understand how our language works. Whether you're using words or notes, it's the same! This is why it is important to learn music theory pragmatically, keeping in mind that it is here to help us understand different musical languages, not at all to impose strict rules. In fact, it would be unthinkable to learn the grammar of a language without ever seeing its relevance in everyday practice! About me: As a 25 year old pianist / drummer / composer / sound engineer / electronic producer / DJ, I offer my help to learn music theory and solfeggio, both in harmony and rhythm. Currently a 3rd year student in Sound at INSAS, I studied musicology at ULB, and I practice music on a daily basis, whether as a pianist (improvisation, composition, learning jazz and classical pieces) or as a sound engineer and beatmaker. Some information about my musical background: - currently in my last year of piano studies (academy of Etterbeek) - member of the jazz ensemble of the Forest academy (2nd year) - regular concerts and composition in MAO (computer assisted music) for 7 years (mainly hip-hop) - 7 years of private drum lessons + Brazilian percussion lessons (batucada) - completed musical training (Etterbeek Academy, 4 years) - 3 years of music writing and analysis courses in academy - solo DJ as well as for a hip-hop group - recording and mixing as a sound engineer as part of my studies and outside: music, cinema, sound creation, etc The course: Depending on your wishes and / or needs, we can orient the course towards different facets of music theory. Whether it's harmony, rhythm, analysis or sight-reading; whether your objective is knowledge, composition, improvisation or the practice of an instrument, I can adapt to you! The first lesson is usually dedicated to assessing the student's level of knowledge and skills, and to establish together a draft programme for the following lessons. The idea is to progress at your own pace, in a good mood! This course is mainly intended for people starting out in music. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, I'llbe happy to answer you!

Trusted teacher: In my music or music therapy classes, I adapt to the wishes of the child / adults and their parents / guardians: -I define the styles and genres of music he listens to (slow or fast) and would like to discover -I define his favorite way of expressing himself: manipulate, dance, draw in music, others -I define what we could discover: history of music, solfeggio games, feeling of rhythm, singing games, making instruments, etc ... -I want to know clearly the facilities and difficulties of the student. -I add moments of feeling of the body: walk in rhythm, type in rhythm, walk towards the treble / bass, etc ... - I add moments of relaxation by guided meditation: imagine that we are a tree, a pebble, well inspired / exhale, etc ... * In musical awakening and music therapy, my main tools are: -a music style album (to explore all the nuances and listen to it if the urge comes) Games to keep the child's attention -simple craftsmanship to make instruments -the families of instruments and baths very basic solfèges -work of the ear and initiation to the instrument with a melodica -the small percussions (eggs, maracasse, tambourine, castanets) choreography (simple) to develop coordination -music relaxation and sounds of nature * In my music theory classes, I define the knowledge to reach: -I work rhythmic and melodic reading -I make work the feeling of the rhythm and the relative ear -I explain as simply as possible the notions of rhythmic notation, armor, tone, scales, modes, intervals, etc ... * My main tools are: -solphege applications - reading aloud -Active listening and dictation -fiches on the basics of solfèges -games explaining rhythmic and harmonic solfeggio - the manipulation of small instruments to practice rhythmic and melodic music theory (because it's more fun, is not it?)

Oscar is an incredibly talented musician who, in addition to his musical prowess, has shown a real talent for teaching. When I approached Oscar to deepen my understanding of music theory, I was pleasantly surprised by his well thought-through approach and I decided that I wanted to make it a regular thing. He organises lessons in a logical flow, uses appropriate practical materials to 'make sense of everything' and always has some food for thought for in-between lessons time. Very happy with my classes. Thanks Oscar!

Piano or music theory teacher for beginners, amateurs and professionals (Amsterdam)
Katie

It's a joy to work with Katie, she has a lovely personality and a very flexible teaching style. Apart from being a good pianist I value the fact that she is able to put music into context. She has the ability to comprehend and clearly explain the underlying musical dynamics of a piece, which allows her students to not only become better pianist but also better listeners and interpreters of music. Katie is the perfect guide for those wanting to gain a deeper understanding of music altogether.

Mrs. Denise has demonstrated passion, mastery and, above all, great versatility as a teacher. She has skillfully recaptured the spirit of a Medieval song with imaginative vocal intensity, while discussing in great detail the lyrical content, linguistic nuances, and the historical context of the song, as well as guiding me through the intricacies of the Occitan language with confidence and poise.
