Trusted teacher: Lessons for all ages. Harp, piano, music theory. I graduated from the KMC Gent and have a career/experience of more than 40 years. I also followed yoga, mindfulness and kinesiology courses. The combination of playing an instrument with mindfulness opens up many possibilities. During the lessons for harp or piano you learn the necessary technique, and musicality is taken into account. The better the technical skill, the more fluidly the musicality can unfold. No previous knowledge of ear training is required for the instrument. Gradually you learn to read the notes. For those who wish, I give AMV (General Musical Education) Here you practice extra on reading, rhythm, general & specific hearing exercises, and theoretical knowledge. Those who are going to higher music studies and experience a gap in music theory can come to me for specific training. I also guide students for solfège who are taking their entrance exam for KMC and also during their student trajectory. Here is more explanation. The lessons are individual and adapted to each student. For toddlers aged 4 to 6 who are learning to play the piano, I follow a method based on a musical fairy tale. It is a method that meets the child's world of experience. They discover the possibilities of the instrument and the way of writing songs. Step by step they learn to play and sing songs on the piano. For harp I can advise to start at 6 years. Fingers at 4 years are still too tender to pluck strings. 6 years is a better age to start harp playing. They play on a small instrument that is appropriate for their age. For children who start from the age of 7, I use a different method book for piano and the child's world of experience is also taken into account. For children who start playing the harp at that age, the method book is also aimed at the child. The method books are therefore tailored to the age and capabilities of the child, teenagers and adults. For students at the college who are going to study music professionally, the subject 'music theory' is included in the curriculum. In case of shortcomings in music theory, the specific needs are updated. Both theory, lecture in G and F clef, performance of rhythm in all time signatures, rhythm dictation, intonation training, intonation dictation, recognition of intervals melodic and harmonic, rhythmic-melodic dictation can be updated to make up for deficiencies. I can guide students in music as a hobby, as well as in music professionally.

Trusted teacher: As a piano teacher, I possess a strong musical ear, extensive piano skills, and a broad knowledge of music and music theory. Thanks to my experience as a music teacher, I can guide students in their musical development in a clear, structured, and inspiring way. I am fluent in sight-reading and can quickly analyze and explain music, which helps me support students efficiently and purposefully during their learning process. In my lessons, I combine technical development with musical understanding and expression. Patience, clear communication, and a positive learning environment are essential to me. Every student is different, which is why I use a personal approach that pays attention to the pace, level, and goals of each student. My strong motivational skills help students gain confidence in their playing and continue to enjoy learning music. An important part of my work as a piano teacher is recognizing my students' strengths and weaknesses. By observing and listening carefully, I can provide targeted advice and adapt exercises so that students develop step by step. I help them improve their technique, deepen their musicality, and strengthen their confidence on the instrument. The primary task in my piano lessons is to motivate students and make them enthusiastic about playing the piano. I want students not only to learn to play, but also to develop a true love for music. Therefore, I pay attention to technical skills as well as musical interpretation and listening skills. During the lessons, I work systematically on the development of hand and finger technique. This is done through targeted exercises such as scales, arpeggios, chord structures, and other technical exercises that help build flexibility, strength, and control in the fingers. Additionally, I guide students in reading sheet music correctly, understanding rhythm, dynamics, phrasing, and musical expression. I also develop and use adapted teaching materials and exercises that match the student's level and progress. By regularly reviewing and adjusting the exercises and techniques, I ensure that students build a solid technical and musical foundation. In addition to learning to play existing pieces, I also focus on understanding music. Therefore, students in my lessons are also introduced to elements of music theory, so that they better understand how music is structured. This helps them practice more independently, learn new music faster, and develop a deeper insight into music. My goal as a piano teacher is to create an inspiring learning environment in which students can develop musically, discover their creativity, and grow step by step as musicians. Playing the piano is not only a technical skill but also an art form through which people can express emotions, ideas, and stories. Therefore, in my lessons, I always try to connect technique, knowledge, and musical experience.

Trusted teacher: Music is complex, emotional, and personal. Whether you've been playing piano for years or just starting out, everyone has their own story, which you can tell through music. Even at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, mistakes are made; the most important thing is your own interpretation and the personality you bring to your work. I work with the student towards this personal interpretation in the form of a routine. With this routine, you master both the technical and emotional aspects of piano playing: from posture and wrist movement to reading rhythms and interpreting dynamics. The most important thing here is the student. I've prepared a basic package with various components: sight-reading, playing by ear, dynamics and articulation, Italian vocabulary, accompaniment practice, and more. You can indicate what suits you best, and we'll work on that. Whether you prefer to learn pop songs or classical pieces: the choice is yours. I also offer a unique program for the very youngest children, allowing their musical talents to flourish. While the focus remains on piano, other instruments (including percussion) are also introduced to broaden their musical horizons. Not only are you taken into account when choosing the right technique, but if you have problems combining it with other hobbies or work, for example, and therefore can't come every week or two, that's no problem at all. I take that into account and offer flexible hours. I also cater to people with stage fright, autism, ADHD, stress-related issues, and more. I respond to your needs and ensure you reach the piano level you desire.

Giorgia

I started my lessons with Giorgia four months ago, and I am so glad to have found her. As a 26-year-old beginner, I was not sure if I should even try to pursue learning an instrument at this point. But now I am so glad I did! I am learning online, and I was a little unsure of how lessons via webcam would go. Despite my prejudice, everything turned out great, even though my setup is quite basic. Her approach to teaching is very creative. She is able to explain things that seem hard to put into words, and she always finds comparisons and descriptions that convey clearly little details of approach that make a lot of difference in the end result. For any difficulty I encountered, she presented methods of exercise that helped correct it. Another thing that I appreciate is that from one lesson to the next, the volume of work is challenging enough that I feel I am making progress, but not to the point that I am overwhelmed. Also, even though I am just beginning and the pieces are not that complex, she explains the musical interpretation in a way that not only helps me advance my skill but also enriches the way I understand and listen to music, and I find great value in that. Her manner of teaching is very organic, and she is a patient teacher with a warm presence. I wholeheartedly recommend her lessons!

David

I had previously played some classical for a few years, but was looking to learn jazz piano and improvisation as well. For this David is ideal, as he studied both as a classical and jazz musician, and has a deep understanding of each. About half the lessons we focus on jazz improvisation. During the lessons I improvise over a few songs, and each session he gives feedback, while adding a new layer of difficulty. We've also worked a lot on rhythm, which has really helped me bridge the gap between classical and jazz. We spent a few lessons on classical pieces as well, to refine technique and musicality. My playing feels much more fluid and musical already, and he's really helpful/knowledgeable with the details. Also, on the weeks where I did have not had much time to practice, we do a more (jazz) theory oriented lesson, which has also helped alot with my improvisation. Overall, I only have positive things to say about the lessons! David is a very easy-going teacher, and from the first lesson I felt very comfortable asking him questions. He's very versatile as well, and easily adapts the lesson according to what suits us best that week.

Katie

It's a joy to work with Katie, she has a lovely personality and a very flexible teaching style. Apart from being a good pianist I value the fact that she is able to put music into context. She has the ability to comprehend and clearly explain the underlying musical dynamics of a piece, which allows her students to not only become better pianist but also better listeners and interpreters of music. Katie is the perfect guide for those wanting to gain a deeper understanding of music altogether.
