Kennis van klassieke muziektheorie en muziekgeschiedenis is in vele opzichten waardevol:
Niet alleen geeft het een nieuw zicht op de klassieke muziekwereld maar het geeft ook concrete vaardigheden, zoals het horen en herkennen van samenklanken, zuiver zingen van complexe melodieën, herkennen van structuur in een muziekstuk en kennis van achtergrond informatie en geschiedenis van een muziekwerk of componist.

Ik onderwijs all deze elementen in een interessant, goed structureert en toegankelijk geheel.
In dit kader bereid ik ook studenten op hoog niveau voor, bijvoorbeeld voor toegang tot een conservatorium.

Mijn lessen pas ik aan op alle niveaus in leeftijden, van beginners tot academisch geïnteresseerden.
Ik leer basisvaardigheden van muziektheorie, bijvoorbeeld voor toelating aan een conservatorium, maar ook academisch complexe muziektheorie op hoog niveau.

Welkom, mijn naam is Maarten. Ik ben een klassieke pianist en een ervaren muziekdocent. Ik geef pianoles en alles over muziektheorie.
De specialiteit van mijn pianopraktijk is dat ik les geef aan studenten van alle leeftijden, niveaus en achtergronden. Mijn jongste student is momenteel 4 jaar oud, en mijn oudste is 88 jaar oud.

Een professionele aanpak is altijd gegarandeerd. De precieze invulling van het gekozen leertraject is afhankelijk van het doel van de leerlingen. Dit wordt aan het begin van onze lessen besproken. Er is altijd flexibiliteit in ondersteuning, mocht een leerling plotseling ergens hulp bij nodig hebben, ook buiten de lestijd om.

Toen ik met mijn pianopraktijk begon, stonden veel mensen sceptisch tegenover het idee van online lessen, wat heel begrijpelijk is. Ik ontdekte echter hoe ik zelfs online lessen effectief kon laten werken:

Het geheim ligt in het vermogen om zeer complexe onderwerpen, bijvoorbeeld pianotechniek (EG-handpositie, gebruik van vingers), op te splitsen in kleine onderdelen die gemakkelijk te begrijpen en te communiceren zijn. Omdat ik ingewikkelde onderwerpen heel helder communiceer, werkt dit ook online heel goed.

Naast de flexibiliteit in tijd en planning die online lessen bieden, sta ik ook altijd heel open voor ideeën van studenten: als de student eigen interesses of ideeën heeft, pas ik me daar graag op aan. Anders heb ik veel ervaring met het kiezen van interessante en boeiende muziekstukken en onderwerpen.

Ik heb veel ervaring met pianospelen. In mijn leven heb ik veel professionele pianowedstrijden en internationale muziekfestivals gedaan met bekende figuren in de muziekwereld. Daarnaast kom ik uit een achtergrond van de beroemde Russische pianoschool, waar veel aandacht is voor muzikaliteit en persoonlijkheid.

Door de jaren heen heb ik mijn eigen pianotechniek ontwikkeld met de focus op ontspanning. Dit maakt virtuositeit mogelijk.

El Taller Tecla y Música es un espacio pensado para aprender y desarrollar tu sentido musical y expresivo a través del piano y/o teclados.
El objetivo principal es aprender a hacer música y disfrutar del proceso de aprendizaje y sus resultados.
El material con el que trabajamos (canciones, piezas instrumentales y ejercicios) está orientado principalmente a tu gusto musical, y la elección es en función de ir ampliando gradualmente tus posibilidades técnicas y expresivas, y a la vez explorar distintos estilos musicales.
De este modo se van incorporando distintas herramientas para lograr en un corto plazo, dominio y fluidez sobre el lenguaje musical y el instrumento.
Dado que cada alumno tiene distintos intereses e inquietudes, ya sea tocar por afición o desarrollar una carrera profesional, componer, improvisar, etc., la orientación de las clases se construye en función de las posibilidades y necesidades particulares de cada caso.
La propuesta de trabajo implica una frecuencia de clases semanal para lograr una óptima dinámica de trabajo y que los resultados sean visibles en un corto plazo.
También existe la posibilidad de tomar clases aisladas con la finalidad de resolver un objetivo puntual como por ejemplo desarrollar y perfeccionar algún aspecto particular de la práctica y/o teoría musical así como el de preparar exámenes de instrumento o materias teóricas para instituciones de estudios musicales.

I have over 12 years of teaching experience and I have been working as a Professional Pianist for 7 years now, in 8 different countries (Switzerland, Austria, Iceland, Spain, etc.) and on Luxury Cruise Ships (Worldwide).

I can show you how to have fun with the piano. If you're a beginner, I can take you right from step one and have you playing familiar songs by the 1st or 2nd lesson. If you already have some experience, I can add to it.

My main goal is to help you achieve your goals and prepare the best lesson for you!

I've been playing and studying piano since age 6 (over 25 years ago). I began with classical music, and later added Ragtime, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, and Chord theory.

I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance, Classical Music (4 years). I have participated in numerous Piano Masterclasses in Europe, and I studied with great pianists. I still learn from different Highly Accomplished Musicians. I believe learning never stops.

I have much to share with my students.

TEACHING STYLE

I am a very patient teacher. I love teaching all ages. I don't teach everyone the same way. I tailor lessons according to individual goals and needs. I insist on the importance of technique and musicality.

I also guide all my students even outside of the teaching time, by responding to all their questions (music theory or technical) and sending them videos.

I teach how to prevent Piano Injuries by focusing on proper technique, posture, and practice habits.

My professional experience includes coaching students of all levels and ages. I successfully prepared the students for their Piano Exams, like ABRSM, Trinity Grade, from grades 1-8, with merits and distinctions, and more advanced exams as well (Performance Diplomas).

I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old, and my youngest one is 3 years old. They made great progress, and I am sure you could do the same.

I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano.

I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation.

I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons.

CURRICULUM

I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years.

For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs.

Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible.

I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age.

I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Doy clases de Guitarra, Ukelele y Lenguaje Musical.
Las clases están destinadas a niño/as, adolescentes y adultos, y son personalizadas con material incluido. Se puede comenzar desde un nivel inicial o intermedio. Además de la parte práctica, también se trabaja en conjunto con la teoría y lo auditivo.
GUITARRA: Se puede aprender guitarra clásica, acústica y eléctrica abordando diversos géneros como el Rock, Pop, Blues, Clásico, entre otros, dependiendo el interés de cada estudiante.
UKELELE: Aprendemos repertorio popular o clásico y una gran variedad de técnicas para tocar canciones.
LENGUAJE MUSICAL: Vemos lectura de pentagramas, armonía, melodía y ritmos.
Si estás queriendo ingresar a algún Conservatorio (Ciclo inicial/FOBA), te puedo ayudar con las clases de apoyo, ya sea con la lectura de partituras o audio perceptiva (intervalos, escalas, acordes).

Ik ben een Spaanse pianist en componist (MMus afgestudeerd aan Codarts Rotterdam in beide richtingen) met al veel jaren leservaring, en ook zeer actief op het gebied van optredens in diverse contexten.

Ik geef privé-pianolessen voor alle niveaus en stijlen (klassiek, jazz, latin, new age, pop...), en ook muziektheorie-, compositie- en improvisatielessen. Mijn lessen onderscheiden zich door hun dynamiek, praktische aanpak en aanpassing aan de behoeften en interesses van de student.

De lessen (live of online) vinden plaats in mijn studio naast de Maastunnel, waar ik een premium stage piano en een top-kwaliteit webcam setup heb.

Ik spreek Nederlands op gemiddeld niveau, dat met de dag beter wordt.

Ambiente dinámico (sin perder el rigor): Clases relajadas pero exigentes, donde priman los métodos prácticos (y mi irremediable sentido del humor)

Most jazz piano teachers offer you a weekly video call and wish you luck until next week. I offer something different. Over the past six years, I've built a structured teaching system for adults who are serious about learning jazz piano properly — whether you're a working professional who's always loved jazz and finally has time to learn, or a classically trained musician ready to break free from the page and start improvising.

What makes my approach different:
Every student gets access to an interactive practice platform with exercises you can work through between lessons — tension identification, voicing construction, ear training, and more. These aren't PDFs or YouTube links, they're purpose-built tools that track your progress and adapt to your level. On top of that, I design personalised weekly practice routines for each student. You'll always know exactly what to practise, how long to spend on it, and what "ready to move on" sounds like. No guessing, no wasted practice time.

My methodology is ear-first. We build strong harmonic foundations through shell voicings before moving to complex concepts. You learn to hear the music before you theorise about it. This is how jazz was always meant to be learned — by listening, not just reading.

Between lessons, you have your practice routine and full access to the exercise platform. I track your activity and adjust the plan based on what I see. It's not a course you follow passively — it's an ongoing, personalised programme.
