Lynn - Ixelles-Elsene33€
Trusted teacher: Hi there! I'm Lynn, a languages and all culture-related enthusiast with a particularly keen interest in singing, storytelling and transdisciplinary art. Which in turn led me to be a freshly graduated Master-student in Performing Arts, with a Bachelor's degree in Modern Languages and Letters where I primarily studied English as well as Russian linguistics and literature, along with a Dutch minor. These university years gave me the opportunity amongst others to learn more in-depth about the subjects I was most passionate about during my Art Humanities, i.e. performance studies, philosophy, art - and cultural history, as well as literary/critical analysis of various different artforms. Brought up bilingual (French-Dutch) from earliest infancy, I very early came to realise the many possibilities and encounters this opened up, which encouraged me to continue down this path of language learning and intercultural communication. At first, I was incredibly fortunate to benefit from the work of a truly invested and passionate English teacher during the scope of my humanities and to acknowledge all of the difference that it makes when learning a foreign language. Subsequently, prior to my studies I got the chance to travel to Ireland for a year during which I mainly worked as an au pair. This not only took my English to the next level, but also sharpened my childcare skills and pedagogical abilities. Now that I've completed my studies and am opening up a new chapter of my working-life, I'm very excited to put all of this baggage to work along with you! I wholeheartedly believe in the power of play and sharing fun, artistic and/or meaningful activities which help put things into practice in order to learn a new language in a lively, profound and sustainable way. So, what do you think? Care to invite me aboard your learning journey?~ ⛵🗺️✨

Trusted teacher: University of Chicago graduate with over 10 years experience in standardized exam preparation offers intensive specialized training for the Verbal section of the GMAT and for TOEFL iBT with guaranteed significant score improvement. The GMAT is required for most MBA programs worldwide, of which the top 100 use it for 90% of their admissions. Its Verbal section (Sentence Correction, Critical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension) is quite different in its focus on the logic and construction of phrases and arguments rather than language rules and vocabulary, typical of other exams. I will help you gain real understanding of the question logic, and extensive practice by working only with authentic questions from past exams (hundreds of questions of various difficulty levels) and supplementing with extra targeted exercises from my eclectic collection of the best resources. This serious exam requires intelligent preparation, there are no superficial shortcuts and tricks like those one may easily come across. However daunting the GMAT may seem, you can actually score at least as high as native speakers (I have had students score in the 700’s), thanks to a more analytical and formal approach to English. What is awesome is that GMAT preparation will not only increase your test score, but also give you logical and analytical skills useful in any aspect of your academic or professional life. The purpose of the TOEFL is merely to make sure you have the necessary English skills to study in university, with a focus on communication and understanding. Thanks to my long academic experience in American universities and preparing hundreds of students for the TOEFL exam, I can help you significantly improve your written English production for the two different TOEFL writing tasks, as well as your pronunciation and fluency for the six speaking tasks. The methodological and individual approach will definitely boost your skills and confidence and give you a more efficient and effective preparation than group courses can.

Trusted teacher: I've been teaching English to small children up to teenagers at École Française Internationale. I give lessons for beginners and intermediate levels. I mix between French and English so the pupil doesn't get too confused, but also allows them to understand every detail. For beginners, we usually talk about our surroundings, what's close to us and what affects us on a daily basis. (Numbers, directions, the weather, asking simple questions, what's a noun and pronoun and where to put them in a sentence). I like to find playful activities so that the pupil/student is in control of their work. Of course, this is an example for a certain age group, but it also varies depending on their knowledge and their age. For intermediates, we make basic conversation. Ex: How do you go to school; What do you do in your free time? ; What's the weather like? -------------------------------- The start of the course with a new learner consists of detecting their level by talking about their background, what they already know, what they must master in order to no longer have any gaps. The first lesson also allows the learner to get comfortable and get to know me to establish mutual trust. That’s why I use a touch of my British humor to achieve this. (I generally do this at the start of the lesson with my students to establish a good mood and they are always delighted!) To help the learner better engage with the learning, I will ask them what their passions/hobbies are, this who interests him to arouse interest in learning. I will adapt my lessons on subjects that speak to him more. Whatever the reason for the course, whether it is to improve oral, written, reading or listening comprehension, I organize audio sessions, readings, everything necessary to deepen in the language.

Maggie is a very competent and dependable teacher for Toefl preparation. She knows the structure of the test very well and was able to provide helpful guidance and useful exercises. She was also good at spotting which area my daughter was weaker at, focussed and worked on it with her to achieve better overall results.

Kevin is a great teacher; he has an outstanding ability to adjust to the student’s exact needs, in my case, preparing job interview. I also was able to improve concrete skills (speaking and writing). I highly recommend him.
