Trusted teacher: This course is for viola and violin students from the beginner through the high school level, and any age from 5-99! My goal is for my students to foster a healthy and long-term relationship with their instrument. The course focuses on practicing and truly understanding technique, with an emphasis on listening. Weekly assignments tend to include technical exercises, scales, and classical pieces of the student's choice. Basic improvisation is also an interest of mine and, I find, a valuable experience for my string students. I believe repertoire is largely a matter of student taste. Students of mine have learned pieces in the Suzuki books and other classical repertoire volumes, but have also learned pop and fiddle songs according to their interest. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the University of Puget Sound, where I graduated in 2015 before moving to Vienna to study privately for three years. I am currently on hiatus from a Master of Viola Performance degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where I study with Ásdís Valdimarsdottir. I have been teaching violin intermittently since 2009. While my musical education is classical, my performance interests are much wider. I have performed jazz and pop improv, and am currently exploring how hip hop can be implemented on the viola and violin.
Hello! I am a Baltimore-based violist studying at the Peabody Institute of Music. My primary goal in teaching viola is to help people make progress as efficiently as possible, with whatever intensity feels right for them. I encourage scales and a small technical regimen for sound production and conditioning, to go alongside practicing repertoire using a method that makes it simple to play cleanly and expressively. Understanding the logic great compositions are built with is essential for making that music truly come to life, so I am a big proponent of teaching music theory as a part of lessons. For beginning students, developing a good musical ear and enjoying exploring the possibilities of the viola always comes first.

Trusted teacher: Hi! I am currently studying viola performance and education at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I also completed a Diploma in Music Education and Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music before coming to The Netherlands. I have had lots of experience with professional orchestras in Ireland, and have taught in schools and privately with group lessons and one-to-one. My goal is to help students find their passion and love for music and playing an instrument. I am also very practical in my approach to teaching, and I make things as clear as possible to understand. When teaching young children, I find that using various different games with the instrument can help a lot with their understanding and development. My understanding of the lessons is that every student should come out with the best feeling of wanting to improve their playing, and I always try to motivate every student in whichever way works best for them. I have been teaching violin and viola for many years, and I also teach piano to an intermediate level. For those who would like to improve aspects of their music theory knowledge I am also very happy to discuss some options. The majority of students who start out do so on the violin, and some change to viola some time later. Some students who begin their musical journey on the violin go on to play not only viola but other stringed instruments such as cello and double bass if they are not too happy with the violin, so choosing violin in the beginning will give you the most options!

In my Violin and Viola classes, you don't just learn the correct technique of playing these two beautiful instruments but also the different styles of music especially Viennese composers like Mozart, Schubert. For me it is very important to have a good and healthy position and that the instrument is like a part of the body. I studied at the Music Academy of Vienna and I have also a pedagogy certificate. I also visited many courses for correct breathing and body position while playing instruments.

Hello, My name is Eliott Tordo. I am an Erhu Player from France. I started playing the Erhu spontaneously, I learned it all on my own. Building over the years what I would describe as a modernized, western style of playing. Rapidly, this unique style of playing found its audience on the web, and playing the Erhu became my main activity. I always loved teaching, what I'm looking for when working with someone is to give them means of developing themselves, of building their own playing. I work differently with each student, taking inspiration from my own experience. If you want to work with me or if you have any other questions feel free to contact me.

Trusted teacher: I am a vastly experienced violinist and composer with a Masters Degree from the prestigious Lucerne Hochschule - Musik in Switzerland and Postgraduate Degree from Trinity Laban in London. I'm a very dedicated teacher, who loves to work with students from all age groups and levels of experience - one of the joys of teaching for me has been to help others find their own potential through consistent work. I structure the class around three different aspects: * addressing technical issues - intonation, bow technique and sound quality, posture * music making - learning about the style of each composer/of each piece, developing repertoire * interpretation - understanding harmony, finding an emotional connection with each of the pieces As part of the weekly-lessons, I provide you with exercises and tools to be able to follow-up on the above. We will work together towards reaching your goals and potential, whilst maintaining a balance between the joy of music-making and achieving a high quality.

Volodja - Ljubljana, Slovenia$107
Trusted teacher: - Preparation for auditions for Bachelor level study, Master level study and orchestra audition. - Preparation for graduation exam (Bachelor/Master) - Preparation for national/international competitions - all categories - Working with very talented younger violinists - Working on interpretation of standard violin concert repertoire (concerts with orchestra, virtuoso peaces, sonatas, interpretation and playing of contemporary compositions as well as trio-quartet chamber music literature) - Consultations for young violin-viola teachers Hi everyone, my name is Volodja and I teach violin as "Full Professor" at Music Academy of Ljubljana University: Third-level teaching to Bachelor and Master students. Teaching is my great passion over 40 years and represents an important complement to my artistic activities as an internationally touring violin soloist and chamber musician, for which I have received several international music awards. I am excited to pass on my wealth of teaching and "on the stage" experience and sharing the "violin playing knowledge", that I got it in the past during my regular violin studies with such wonderful teachers and artists as Igor Ozim and members of Amadeus quartet in Cologne, Galina Barinova and Grigori Zhislin in Moscow, Josef Suk and Klaus Maetzl in Vienna, Josip Klima in Zagreb and Franco Gulli (Masterclasses). I am particularly proud of my current and former students who have won several national and international prizes. Many of them already have important positions in various orchestras, chamber music groups as well as professional teaching positions in Europe and USA. I also regularly give violin and chamber music master classes worldwide (Trinity Laban Conservatory in London, Music University in Vienna, Interlocken Art Academy in Michigan, Music Academy in Zagreb, ESTA (European string teachers association) conference 2020 in Porto to name a few). My first responsibility as a teacher is "to take care" of my students and guide them step by step, always having clear short- and long-term goals for them. I have an individual approach towards each of my students. I always try to show my students how to achieve maximum results through appropriate way of practicing and time-management. I teach my students to be independent, organized and responsible. The most important teaching elements, I take care on all levels of teaching process: - To keep in mind that everybody is different and to treat everyone as an individual! - To teach singing on violin, even if playing exercises and scales. - To support individual creativity on all levels - To teach how to practice and how to organize practicing time - time management - Taking care to listen to yourself "objective" and how important it is for all aspects of playing: technique (sound control, intonation, rhythm etc) and musical phrasing with final goal - "interpretation". - To choose the right selection of violin pieces (concerts, sonatas, short pieces etc.) and right exercises according to student/pupil's level - Building a solid violin basic technique and to take care for it on all levels - work on intonation problems and tonal restrictions, bowing solutions etc. - Regular intensive work on scales, "etudes" and other exercises for left and right hand - To take care of synchronization and "timing" of left-right hand. - Dealing with nervousness and finding solutions how to prevent being "too nervous" on the stage I love to give violin lessons for pupils of "Second teaching level" mostly of age 14-19 and "First teaching level - beginners and 1-6 years of playing, but preferable with the agreement of pupil's regular violin teacher or in special cases after previous appointment.
