Graduated with a Master's degree in jazz saxophone from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, a Bachelor's degree in Musicology from the Sorbonne in Paris and a diploma in classical saxophone music studies. I teach saxophone, improvisation, jazz harmony, and music theory. My lessons are based on learning pieces suited to the student's level and musical tastes, focusing on relaxation, ease, and enjoyment of the instrument, as well as developing sound and playing feel. I introduce my students to a wide range of music to spark their interest in the instrument and its music.

Graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, I studied saxophone, musical training and pedagogy while traveling across Europe (Annecy, Lyon, Zaragoza and Leuven). In parallel with my studies and my projects / concerts, I have always been keen to transmit my passion by teaching the saxophone and musical training. My pedagogical project is based on the manipulation of musical language, establishing a dynamic energy where the student becomes the protagonist of his learning. My passion for teaching pushes me to work on constant research and creation, in order to establish a quality of communication and transmission with adults as well as with very young children. My latest experiments took place during my residencies in the early childhood environment, the crèche, with the Squeezze company. In these improvisation laboratories mixing music and movement, much research has been carried out in order to make the artistic material used accessible. A “primitive” language is then created to engage in a relationship with children in connection with their space and time.

Learn to play to decipher scores and improvise by ear or by reading and analyzing chord charts. This course will adapt to your level of play: simple harmonies for beginners and more complex depending on the degree of mastery of the instrument. This course also includes a thorough introduction to harmony.

Are you a beginner?? No worries: no experience is required! 😁 I can teach you the basics to produce sounds with your saxophone: position of the embouchure (teeth, tongue, lips and vocal cords' position, an element often forgotten), fingerings, use of diafragma,... After the first two lessons spent on the mouthpiece and neck for the sound production, we will immediately start to play some super easy duos together to practice your capacity of listening, pay attention to the other, ear training as well. I normally use the book of Peter Wastall (titled Learn as you play) as support, but it is not mandatory. There are plenty of good books btw! Are you an intermediate / advanced student?? I am sure you can still improve in all the basics, but on a different level. I'll teach you the importance of the "voicing" (technique named by the american saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta) to improve your sound production and projection as well as the capacity of correcting and improving the intonation. You can learn all about phrasing and music interpretation, from tonal music until contemporary atonal compositions. And still, you can improve your playing together, practicing in duo on different aspects like tuning, balance, interpretation, performance etc. Book a lesson and try! Professional saxophonist eager to teach and work to bring out the best version of yourself! The lessons are intended for all levels, children or adults. We follow a working method where you will continuously and deeply develop your musicality, way of playing, expressiveness and technique. -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- Raúl is a Spanish saxophonist who finished his DIDACTIC MASTER in 2018 at the École Supérieure des Arts in Mons. Previously, he also completed a MASTER OF INTERPRETATION at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (2015-2017) in the class of Alain Crepin and Simon Diricq. He studied at the "Musikene" (Higher Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country) with Eric Devallon, Tomás Jérez, Antonio Felipe Belijar and Miguel Ángel Lorente. Passionate about multidisciplinary artistic creation, he thinks of the mixing of all the arts in the same show as an aesthetic goal. This type of research could be observed in his project for his final master's recital in Brussels where he created a project based on Maslow's theory of the hierarchy of human needs where he mixed live, recorded music, dance, light shows and effects under the name: “according to Maslow... ” In terms of his career as a concert artist, he has played in different ensembles (solo performances, duo, trio, quartet, orchestra...) and different countries such as Japan (Artisanal Musical Fair "Suono Italia" 2010), Belgium (Festival Musiq3 2016), Artonov Festival at BOZAR in 2016...), France (Dax chamber music festival 2011) or Spain (Music Festival “Quincena Musical” 2015, Aste Nagusia 2015, Heineken Jazzaldia 2014, Festival Kutxa 2015, Intercentros Melómano 2010).
