About Me
A Pirastro Young Artist (Echoarts Munich, 2021) and recipient of the Swiss Federal Excellence Scholarship for the Promotion of International Exchange, Margherita is a passionate and inquisitive musician. Active as both a soloist and chamber musician, Margherita is currently pursuing further studies in music pedagogy at the Bern University of the Arts alongside her concert activities with other musicians and ensembles in Europe.
Margherita was awarded the Roscini-Padalino Prize for the best Italian graduates in 2021, having received her Bachelor's degree summa cum laude at the age of 19. During her studies in Italy, she spent seven years studying with Antonio Meneses, whom she met at the age of 14, first at the Stauffer Academy in Cremona and later at the Bern University of the Arts, where she earned her first Master's degree in Music Performance and a minor in Chamber Music in the class of Patrick Jüdt. She also received a scholarship from the De Sono Associazione per la Musica in 2023, which supported her second Master's degree at the Maastricht Conservatory with Quirine Viersen.
Passionate about historical performance practice and musicology, Margherita has been a freelance writer and content creator for the Italian online magazine Quinte Parallele since 2021. She continuously expands her horizons and skills on historical instruments under the tutelage of violinist and conductor Shunske Sato, and through a minor in Baroque cello with Job Ter Haar.
Based in Switzerland and supported by the S. & Salzmann Foundation and the Beat Peter Neeser Foundation, Margherita has performed on major stages (Elbphilharmonie, Vienna Musikverein, Teatro Argentina, Sale Apollinee of the Teatro La Fenice, Cello Biennale, Künstlerhaus Boswil, Palazzo Veneto) and was invited to perform with the CHAARTS Chamber Artists for the 2022/23 season.
Margherita participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned musicians, including Cecilia Ziano, Steven Isserlis, Enrico Bronzi, Frans Helmerson at the Festival Sion Violon Musique (where she was awarded the festival scholarship for the best student in her class), Diana Ketler, Erik Schumann (Schumann Quartet), Shuann Chai and Gary Hoffman.
As part of her responsibility as a performer, Margherita is particularly committed to commissioning new works from young Italian composers as part of her program and repertoire proposals. She has commissioned and premiered pieces by Catenaccio, De Felice, and students from the composition class at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. This coming April, she will premiere a piano trio commissioned by pianist Emanuele Torquati from Francesco Perrotti in Italy. Margherita is a core member of the Nefelibata New Music Collective, a young, experimental contemporary music ensemble based in the Netherlands and Switzerland, with whom she recently performed Arvo Pärt's cello concerto "Pro et Contra."
