Music - Violin and Piano Classes - Beginner to Intermediate

Currently I am studying composition and music theory at the Royal conservatory of Antwerp. I have been playing guitar for more than 15 years and I have participated in music bands and live shows. I am also working on electronic music through my laptop and hardware devices (synths, drum machines etc) I would be happy to teach you how to play the guitar, music theory tips and some basic production skills! In the beginning we will work on your favourite songs. At some point you will be able to make your own songs and you will have the opportunity to record your ideas and share them to the public! For the super young ones: We will start with easy tunes and then, we will work on your favourite songs! - It is never too early or too late to learn an instrument! - Music theory is a very important tool to go further in playing, don't be scared of it. You can do it! -Guitar techniques to apply to your playing :) - Interested in making your own music? I will help you to do it! Get your music online and don’t be afraid to share it! I am Nuno Miguel, born and raised in Portugal, I began my musical studies at the age of 6 and I have recently graduated my Masters in Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, Belgium. I have had the absolute privilege of performing, collaborating and learning from the greats in all corners of the Continent, both in Solo and Chamber Music. My goal is to help you take that gripping musical curiosity and turn it into success, whether as a future professional or amateur. Let's start? (Possible in English and Portuguese.)

Besides teaching all the important aspects of piano playing, I would like to share my passion for music with my students and help them build a solid base in a fun and interactive way. I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons to students of all levels. As a pianist 12 years of teaching experience and over 21 years of playing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the course of learning piano. If the student is interested in a more serious approach, I can also guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams. I also have successful experience preparing students for entrance to conservatory and for various competitions. Recently, my students have achieved highest marks in the ABRSM exams as well as prizes in competitions. We also have a class concert for interested students twice per year. I am happy working in both a relaxed and serious approach, we simply need to discuss the objectives of the student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music." Prior to this, I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance/Music from University of Minnesota and TCU-Fort Worth, TX, USA. My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as soloist with orchestra (also as harpist), and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio and look forward to meeting new students.

I specialize in teaching about Music and how to play the Guitar. In class, I always make the effort of understanding what are the goals and interests of all students, as well as their own skills. This way we can address the issues at hand more effectively and make sure the student never loses his/her interest and focus in music and his/her instrument. I believe that an honest and friendly relationship between teacher and student is essential for this exchange of ideas to happen more clearly and fluently, and so I do my best to make everyone feel comfortable enough to share their own thoughts freely. I offer good and personalized classes. This means that there will special care with your interest in music and guitar, all basic skills will be worked upon and strengthened, all specific requests and ideas will be addressed, both improvisation and interpretation can be developed and exploring potential, achieving goals and having fun are main priorities. Graduated pianist and soprano singer, I offer piano and singing lessons from beginners to higher levels. Also, I offer music theory classes (analysis, harmony, rhythmic and melodic exercises, etc.) than you can complete with your instrument, having more facilities reading and analyzing scores and having more skills to compose.

In my class, I teach piano in a way that allows you to make progress on your own. "Don't give a man a fish, instead teach him how to fish," is the idea here. My methods include, besides basics, approaches to expressing your own musicality, stable memorization, practice habits and efficiency, technical ease, focus exercises, body awareness, and stage fright. Hence, I am best suited for intermediate and advanced students that have the desire to either study piano on a collegiate level or make significant improvements for themselves. I would like to add at this point that I have a special affinity for the concert etudes by Frédéric Chopin. However, I am perfectly happy to start with students from the very beginning as well and regardless, I will adjust to my student's needs upon mutual agreement. My free times that I listed as available are a rough estimate, lesson times are normally negotiable.

Teaching is a wonderful way to build peoples lives and to have the opportunity and be part of this process is what I truly enjoy. I have taught people of all ages in the past and teaching in such a diverse environment has enabled me to be an inclusive thinker and approach each unique situation skillfully.

I am familiar with classical repertoire as well as music from the 20th and 21st-century. If you prefer Pop, Folk, Jazz, or another style, the classes can also be focused on those styles of music. If you have a specific kind of repertoire or piece in mind we will work on it! If you are unsure about what to play, I can give you suggestions and show you different repertoire so you can choose something that truly captivates you.
