Piano Lessons for all ages in English & Portuguese

I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons to students of all levels. As a pianist 12 years of teaching experience and over 21 years of playing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the course of learning piano. If the student is interested in a more serious approach, I can also guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams. I also have successful experience preparing students for entrance to conservatory and for various competitions. Recently, my students have achieved highest marks in the ABRSM exams as well as prizes in competitions. We also have a class concert for interested students twice per year. I am happy working in both a relaxed and serious approach, we simply need to discuss the objectives of the student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music." Prior to this, I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance/Music from University of Minnesota and TCU-Fort Worth, TX, USA. My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as soloist with orchestra (also as harpist), and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio and look forward to meeting new students.

I specialize in teaching about Music and how to play the Guitar. In class, I always make the effort of understanding what are the goals and interests of all students, as well as their own skills. This way we can address the issues at hand more effectively and make sure the student never loses his/her interest and focus in music and his/her instrument. I believe that an honest and friendly relationship between teacher and student is essential for this exchange of ideas to happen more clearly and fluently, and so I do my best to make everyone feel comfortable enough to share their own thoughts freely. I offer good and personalized classes. This means that there will special care with your interest in music and guitar, all basic skills will be worked upon and strengthened, all specific requests and ideas will be addressed, both improvisation and interpretation can be developed and exploring potential, achieving goals and having fun are main priorities. French student who just moved to Antwerp, I've been giving lessons for years in France and it was such a pleasure, that I want to experience here again. Specialized in Romanticism / Modern, I also improvise. I can teach the goods habits as a pianist to never hurt yourself and to quickly develops a good technique and musicality: Position, gesture, practice tools... Graduated from the Paris Conservatory (diplôme supérieur d'execution & diploma supérieur concertiste) with unanimity. Classic piano. Lessons of 1 hour per week. Together we make a plan to work towards something. This can be a concert or a competition. If I think the level is good enough, I may be able to program you to play in one of my professional concert series in the Netherlands. I was born in the Netherlands and currently live in Antwerp. At the moment I play about 50 concerts a year throughout Europe. I myself still follow classes with my teacher in Vienna, Paris or Barcelona. I myself am still preparing for major competitions, concerts and festivals. During my bachelor studies I also followed a minor in education. My teaching technique is very focused on achieving results as effectively as possible. My goal is to let the student enjoy his or her own game. We will bring out the best in you. With concrete exercises you will understand better and better how to study well at home. They are lessons you will remember for the rest of your life.

I am self taught guitarrist for 10 years, through this journey I learnt how to learn to play guitar. During my lessons I will teach you the best and fastest methods to reach your guitar playing goals wheater they are playing your favorite songs, improvising or composing your own! Cello Lessons for all levels: My main goal with my teaching is to share my passion for music with my students. I believe strongly that this passion leads to discipline and curiosity which benefit all other aspects of one's life. Whether or not my students decide to pursue music as their main profession, I believe they have much to gain from learning the cello. Besides the discpline one learns, Music-making in itself is fulfilling!! :) Conservatory Preparation: In my experience as a musician living and working in Belgium for the past 6 years, I have noticed a gap in the musical education of young Belgian music students transitioning from Music academies into Conservatories. Oftentimes, these young music students seeking to enter conservatories do not possess the necessary skill level to enter higher education in Music. Through my private teaching, I intend to bridge this gap by catering specifically (though not exclusively) to these students. I strongly believe that there is a huge demand for this type of teaching which I am capable to provide.

Lessons are individually and carefully adapted to student’s age, level, desired outcome. From youngest students, to whom the music and playing the basics are served in a playful way based on making the music important part of their development to advanced students with whom we can refine all the musical details and prepare for professional careers.

Hello, my name is Javier. I am a guitarist, composer, sound technician and music producer. I work professionally, especially in contemporary Jazz. During more than 15 years of experience as a teacher, I have developed several methods and exercises for teaching guitar and music (songs, theory, composition, improvisation, harmony, etc.) for students of all levels and all ages. I had a friend who played "Blackbird" music by The Beatles and I was fascinated. From there, I started to study and I continue to learn today. 02 - What music can you listen to on repeat with the same pleasure (and without going crazy)? - Beethoven's Seventh Symphony. 03 - Tell us about the most difficult or amazing lesson you have given! - It would be a class where I have to explain the major and minor tonality and all its variants in one hour of class. But I will get there! 04 - In your opinion, what is the most complicated instrument to master and why? - It was impossible to answer. Each person has different predispositions. For me to play the piano at a high level would be complicated for the need for independence of the right and left hands. In this sense, the guitar is easier. 05 - What are, for you, the keys to success (apart from those of Sol and Fa)? - CONSTANCE, it's always better to practice a little every day than a lot once in a while. PATIENCE, learning an instrument takes time. You have to learn to coordinate the body and the brain and take new paths from time to time. And the most important : DON'T BE AFRAID OF MAKING MISTAKES, to learn it is essential to make mistakes and this should not be a reason to stop practising, on the contrary, it should be a motivation to improve. 06 - Name 3 musicians with whom you would dream of jamming in a bar at 2 a.m. and tell us why! - Tigran Hamasyan, Reinier Baas, Avishai Cohen (bassist) 07 - An anecdote to tell in relation to your job or your schooling (and not necessarily the party you had after entering the Conservatory)? - When I started giving lessons (I was 17), I had a 10-year-old student, when I suggested things to do, he looked me directly in the eye and said: No! But with patience, after a while, I managed to make a connection with him and at the end of the 3 years he played the guitar very well and we became friends. Now he is more or less 25 years old. 08 - What is the little touch that makes you a special teacher adored by all his students? - I am very patient and I always find the best way to explain for each student.

I have been learning the violin and piano since 5 years old, and am currently taking a bachelor in Music Performance in Violin, in the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. Students of any age are welcome, and I have special experience with beginner and younger students, having given a lot of lessons of piano and music theory. I teach in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and basic Dutch. The individual violin and piano lessons are personalized and tailored to the progress and learning ability of each student.
