The guitar is undoubtedly one of the most popular instruments of the modern age. It is so versatile and used in many genres ranging from classical music to Death Metal and even Electronic Music. I will teach you the basics of playing the guitar, and I'll spice it up later with my experience in composition and songwriting. We will learn by example through the famous songs that shaped our understanding of the guitar. Whether you prefer singer-songwriter-style songs, or thrash metal we'll get there together. I will teach mainly using the guitar tablature format, we can do sheet music which is generally unneeded for anything besides classical, but I will need to refresh my music sheet reading skills as I haven't had to read any in the last 10 years.

My main teaching philosophy is to teach students to play the music they enjoy. It sounds like a no-brainer but I have had teachers in the past who only showed me songs that they enjoyed or used method books that teach you "Mary Had A Little Lamb" or "Hot Crossed Buns" (and if you like those songs then we can learn those). All that to say, whatever the student's goal on the instrument, I will take them step by step until they reach it. For a beginning musician, the fundamentals of the instrument are given the highest priority: how to tune your instrument, names of all the notes, essential chords, basic strumming, playing in time, and understanding basic rhythm. For someone who already plays but needs a little help getting out of the rut, we'll spend time fixing bad technical habits, hammering home the fundamentals, expanding their repertoire, and slowly moving outside of the comfort zone to new horizons. With advanced players, listening (ear training), transcribing, song analysis, exploring advanced theory concepts, and focusing on composition and improvisation are most important. With all levels of students, I make playlists that I update after each lesson so they can hear real examples of what we are covering, as well as provide detailed written notes in TAB and standard notation so they can refer to everything we covered and know what to practice. Hello! Alright, I'll break it down into parts. If you look for a more "narrowed description" just scroll down to where I made a list :) My name is Francisco, and I'm a guitar player from Argentina, currently living in Berlin. I am very enthusiastic about teaching and sharing the energy to grow musically with my students. I have taught music for 7 years in schools and privately at home. With private lessons, my aim is to adjust to the student's likes and abilities. I am attentive to the needs and the reasons why someone is wanting to play and learn music. And I try to encourage the curiosity and spirit of making music and not follow what is "considered" that you should learn. What to expect from the first lesson with me? To get to know each other. That way I see what you like and what you don't, what you already play, and your learning pace. Probably I can share with you something new already, and from there, we will build a "program" according to what you want your rhythm and time availability. I value singularity and I like to get to know who I teach, so that way I can help them better. It can be first chords and ways of learning new songs, improvisational tools, or pure harmony and theory stuff. Because everyone is different, for example, if you like Rock I will go in that direction and teach you the elements that make Rock sound like it does and I won't teach you Jazz Harmony, if you like Classical music we will go over the abilities that you have to have to execute this kind of music, the same goes for the styles that I play. I was lucky to travel a bit of the world playing music with different projects and musicians that I admire, I always did this playing mainly Jazz music. I have played in bars and clubs and theaters in New York, Boston, Buenos Aires, and in different cities around Switzerland, Germany, France, Holland. I was also part of several orchestras (Jazz, Tango, and Rock) in Argentina and the US.
