A current student at Berklee College of Music Online, I have been playing and performing cello for 25 years - as well as 23 years of guitar - and I have been teaching to kids, tweens, teens, and adults since 2012! I’m incredibly patient, an avid encourager, and I LOVE helping others discover their own gift of music within them. I specialize in beginner, intermediate, and upper intermediate cello, as well as beginner, intermediate, and upper intermediate guitar. Music is part of our lives, so why not take a dive into learning and understanding it? I am offering Cello and Theory lessons in English, Mandarin or French. Students can choose either or, but basic music theory will be taught as part of practical lessons to progress with music reading. Be it leisure or exam focused, the lessons will be customized for each student. The lessons are progressively paced with a good mix of theoretical and technical studies, followed by expressions and musicality. Music knowledge is definitely not a requisite to begin. Students will also have access to my music database with over 1000 scores, and arrangements can be made for your level. Music theory lessons will be based on either the standard British / American theory or the French theory/ecriture system. Here, you will learn how to better read and understand music concepts and its rules, and even eventually write your own works!

I've been teaching cello to children, teenagers and adults for 10 years, so I've acquired the necessary experience to be able to adapt to the different and personal needs and objectives of each student. My teaching methodology focuses on creating a friendly and relaxed environment (which does not mean undemanding!) in which students feel confident to express their own ideas and worries. In my lessons I focus on technical and postural questions, but we also reflect together on the music, as I like my students to develop their own musical ideas and not just imitate the teacher. Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me. Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on. Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor. Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing. No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. Growing with joy in playing – developing technique through favorite pieces. One of the most exciting aspects of playing the piano is the ability to play favorite tunes from movies and Disney fairy tales. You can easily learn and play popular songs that both children and adults will enjoy. This makes practicing the piano even more interesting and inspiring, as you can enjoy familiar and beloved melodies. Learn your favorite melodies with fun In my lessons, we'll explore jazz and pop music together on the piano. We'll play the music you love. If you'd also like to learn classical works, we're happy to incorporate that music into the lessons. You'll also learn music theory and ear training (solfeggio) – in a relaxed and playful way, so the focus is always on fun.
