Learn the basics of music (theory, theory, history ...) for children from 7 to 17 years old

Brazilian pianist and composer, graduated from the École Normale de Paris, I have 7 years of experience as a teacher and I would be very delighted to share my knowledge with anyone who is interested in the piano! Music is part of our lives, so why not take a dive into learning and understanding it? I am offering Cello and Theory lessons in English, Mandarin or French. Students can choose either or, but basic music theory will be taught as part of practical lessons to progress with music reading. Be it leisure or exam focused, the lessons will be customized for each student. The lessons are progressively paced with a good mix of theoretical and technical studies, followed by expressions and musicality. Music knowledge is definitely not a requisite to begin. Students will also have access to my music database with over 1000 scores, and arrangements can be made for your level. Music theory lessons will be based on either the standard British / American theory or the French theory/ecriture system. Here, you will learn how to better read and understand music concepts and its rules, and even eventually write your own works!

Theory and music theory, in music, are far from being the most fun. But it is essential to do so to progress and have fun, to play as you want and without limits! With good methods and enough patience, you can still get there. The proof ? After 10 years at the conservatory, I still ended up liking it! But no worries, no need to wait so much. Being a graduate of the Conservatory, I acquired a very rigorous apprenticeship in music. Today, private lessons allow me to share my knowledge and pass it on. I am a musicology student and have been practicing music from a young age. I joined the Montauban conservatory in 2019 and graduated from BMD solfège. I have been practicing electric bass for 10 years and double bass for 2 years. I can give music lessons for beginners.

The transverse flute is a wind instrument. Like any musical instrument, learning takes a long time and must be regular in practice. Musical awakening classes are aimed at children of all ages, whether they are small or older, whether the child has already taken musical awakening classes or not, whether his parents are musicians or not. I adapt to each student in order to develop their curiosity, their critical sense and why not introduce them to music. The musical awakening classes aim to awaken the desire to learn music and to study an instrument in children. They also allow to discover this universe which surrounds them from an early age. I make sure to respect a theme that comes up during several lessons: musical instruments, composers, sounds etc. During the 30 minutes of each class, we will sing, dance and listen to learn more about music! I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.
