Private lessons in piano and music theory for beginners and intermediates
course price icon
From 35.25 $ /h
arrow icon
Being a graduate of the Conservatory, I acquired a very rigorous apprenticeship in music. Today, private lessons allow me to share my knowledge and pass it on. Music is learning, but it's also a pleasure.
For an optimal learning, I adapt as much as possible to the capacities of the pupil in order to be able to make him progress as well as possible, and that he thus learns the music and allow him to like to play and to make music.
Private lessons in piano and music theory require step-by-step learning, with regular work, which I take the time to do during the course, and which in this sense will have to be continued on the other days of the week, for a real evolution, for a beginner as for someone who has a good basis.
Extra information
Ideally, you should have a piano at home in order to be able to work regularly.

My methodology is fully adapted to the student's needs. The methods vary depending on whether they want to learn to compose or play classical piano, or whether they want to play jazz, pop music, etc.
The important thing to understand is that in order to get the most out of the classes, you also need to practice on your own at home. This way, you can spend time together improving aspects of language, performance, technique, etc.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, I offer Drums lessons (all ages) to beginners, intermediates and advanced.
Sharing music and dialogue with the student are essential for me: I adapt to the needs/desires of each student by offering a musical and instrumental program (in addition to regular work based on technique). Students will be able to play along to playbacks (soundtracks), solo, or simply following a score. The courses will of course be focused on different points, according to your requests. I will use musical language, and teach you how to read a Drum score using simple and effective methods.
I offer a cultural approach to different styles to my students (funk, groove, hip-hop, rock, reggae, jazz, etc.).
I also give lessons in music theory, timpani, djembe, percussion, piano according to your request.

I introduce myself:
Classical singer, professional soloist, good level pianist,
graduated from conservatories
- from Toulouse: 1st prize for singing / 2nd prize for music theory and sight reading
- from Paris (CNSM) Certificates of musical and vocal culture and piano - singers

On the sidelines, then after a career as a lyrical artist in Paris (Opéra Comique/Théâtre Mogador/Espace Cardin, in the RTLN theaters (including Capitole de Toulouse) and abroad (Switzerland/Belgium/Mauritius) I I have been focused on teaching (singing, beginner piano, music theory) for around 25 years.
Experience with children / adults, amateurs / professionals, singers / instrumentalists
I teach traditional music theory which differs from FM (Musical Training), I briefly explain here the differences, the interest and the advantages.
It is based on tonal music, the progressive study of tones and not intervals outside tonal context.
It recommends the separate acquisition of its various components: rhythm, reading notes, intonation
it results in these well-integrated bases, sung sight reading and written dictation

Why work on music theory as a subject in its own right?
Because, in a course "piano / violin / vocals / clarinet ... + music theory", and as I myself have experienced, the pupil and the teacher, accomplices, always favor the instrument and the learning music theory is done in homeopathic doses. The study of the instrument is nevertheless also slowed down because of the multiple interruptions caused by ignorance of music theory.
I am not suggesting that you "get rid" of music theory because its study, contrary to its reputation, is very interesting. But to diversify the difficulties that you encounter: those relating to the instrumental technique and those due to music theory.

I accompany you on the piano and introduce you to the keyboard. A mini-keyboard allows you to work on your intonation at home also following my instructions.
If the level allows it, I also do instrumental and vocal music theory: music theory applied to the study of your pieces, analyzed, deciphered and accompanied on the piano.
Levels: for more precision, up to level "medium 2"
I recommend a weekly frequency (except possibly school holidays), essential for the effectiveness of the course, as well as a minimum personal work at home.

In this lesson, music knowledge is not a pre-requisite. Here, you will discover music theory and solfege, alongside general music - the understanding of the history and significance of music to humanity.

Students have the option of standard British/ American theory (classic/jazz) or French theory/Ecriture system. From note reading to harmonization, graded syllabus (E.g ABRSM) or just to explore, lessons will be specially catered to your needs. Being able to analyze what you see will definitely greatly improve your own instrument's progress!

Solfege, or solfeggio training is a specialized aural training. It can be taught in either fixed or movable do to train for strong relative pitch and rhythm stability, allowing students to 'hear' the music just by looking at the notes. This is especially useful for mastering sight-reading, transcribing and playing by ear! Adding on, the ability to analyze by ear will open your world to the music you may have not noticed before.

Theory and music theory, in music, are far from being the most fun. But it is essential to do so to progress and have fun, to play as you want and without limits! With good methods and enough patience, you can still get there. The proof ? After 10 years at the conservatory, I still ended up liking it!
But no worries, no need to wait so much.

As for the instrumental, the work requires practice and patience. But above all, listening. A new ear can always make you grow, find details, different approaches. I offer a long practice filled with orchestral and ensemble experience to accompany in practice.
I can accompany teaching without replacing it or give first wind instrument lessons.

I have been giving lessons for beginners and intermediates for almost 2 years. What I like about giving lessons is to transmit my passion for music, the history of music and singing. What I want is to share the sensitivity behind each piece and to make the student understand the meaning of each written note and each phrasing. I like to work in a fun way, by singing the phrasings to work the ear instead of a too robotic work. I am also a babysitter and I know how to work with children, my teaching technique therefore changes according to the age, with children I want to share the love of music so that work at home is not a chore but a pleasure and a game. I have been playing the piano for 15 years and have been at the conservatory for 13 years, currently at the end of my studies. I give lessons at my home or at the student's home depending on the needs.

Hello! My name is Noa, I am 21 years old and I have a DEM in piano and musical training (CRR of Toulouse and Aix-en-Provence; Preparatory Cycle for Higher Education), I offer piano and music theory lessons for children, teenagers and adults, from beginner to advanced level!

I have my diplomas in musical training, accompaniment, harmony, and finally piano.
I am passionate about music and teaching, and I have been teaching for over 5 years with joy and commitment, adapting to the pace, age and desires of each person!

This is how I imagine the courses, it's up to you to tell me what you want too:
A little music theory at the start of the session (rhythm, reading, ear)
Piano technique (reading, fingering, posture, coordination)
Then it's time to work on your piece! (classical, film music, songs, etc.) ...

The best thing is to communicate your wishes! See you soon!

Smiling and attentive, I place great importance on kindness and trust in the relationship with the student. My goal is to help each student feel comfortable with their instrument, develop their musicality and gain self-confidence.
I support each student at their own pace and according to their needs, giving them the tools to learn to work independently while maintaining the joy of playing. Through an adapted method, I encourage curiosity, personal expression, and a taste for musical sharing.
