My name is Polly and I am a professional opera singer. I am currently performing as a Young Artist with Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam as part of their brand new Studio Programme. Alongside performing, I have a passion for teaching classical singing to students of all ages and abilities. As a newcomer to Amsterdam, I am looking to build my teaching studio and to share my love of singing! Whether you sing purely for your own enjoyment, are preparing for a big audition or performance, or simply just want to know more about how the human voice works, I am here to help! I previously trained at the Royal College of Music (MPerf, Distinction) and the National Opera Studio in London, as well as working for opera companies including Opera Holland Park, Royal Opera House, Pop-Up Opera, Charles Court Opera, and British Youth Opera. I also achieved ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Voice (both Distinction), so I am able to provide piano accompaniment in lessons. Prior to my Masters training at the RCM, I studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (BSc Hons) at Durham University, which included modules in Animal Physiology. I am therefore fascinated by and have a deep understanding of how the human voice functions. I teach using the SATS model devised by my teacher Janice Chapman, which uses evidence-based science to teach the fundamentals of classical singing. So, no matter what stage you are in your vocal training, I will be able to help to build and strengthen your vocal technique and help you towards vocal freedom and experience true joy in your singing! Languages I sing in include English, Italian, German, French, and, to a lesser extent, Czech and Russian. I have received the input of many world-class language coaches over the years, so I am happy to coach you through the sounds and meaning of texts in these languages.

Trusted teacher: I can help out beginner to intermediate producers. We can start all the way from the beginning or focus on specific topics that you would have questions about. I can teach you to produce tracks in an intuitive way without the use of music theory but can also incorporate the basics of music theory in the lessons. I’m specialised in sound design, playing live sets on stage and developing the identity of artists. It helps me to get intermediates to the next level. When you want to start with music production you need to work in a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). I work mainly with Ableton because it's very intuitive and "jammable". It's a great DAW to work in, especially for beginners. Preferably my lessons will be focused on Ableton but I can also work in other DAW's because the fundamentals are mostly the same in all of them. The following aspects will be covered in Ableton Live: 1. The Basics (overview of the layout) 2. Arrangement, session and clip view 3. Working with sequencers and MIDI 4. Recording and routing 5. Audio and MIDI effects 6. How to work with the built-in instruments in Ableton Live. 7. How to go from a basic beat to a finished track. 8. Mixing and mastering 9. The basics of music theory 10. Intermediate: sound design, synthese, synthesizers, sampling, field recordings 11. Intermediate: developing your own liveset with MIDI controllers, drumcomputers and synthesizers 12. Intermediate: developing your own sound and identity If you have any question, don't hesitate to message me!

Trusted teacher: Mixing a recorded music is the art to connect musical ideas to emotions. Whether it is your music or someone else’s recordings, I’ll help you develop your skills in order to give the perfect “make up” to any song. But what exactly is Music Mixing Engineering? Imagine that you recorded drums, bass, keyboard, guitars and vocal. Now you have to put everything together and be able to listen to all the instruments with perfect sonic separation. You need to match the emotional intention of the composer to the emotions of the listener. The decision to make the voice louder or not, bring the guitars to attention only in a specific moment of the song, specify the type of reverberation and so many other decisions is the responsibility of the one working on the mix. I’ll teach you all the 7 main steps for every successful mix and work in-depth each of those according to your development or previous knowledge. I’ll fine tune the lessons specifically for your needs. We can work with your recordings, but if you don't have one, don't worry. I'll bring multi-tracks recordings of different genres for you to learn and practice along. Common Questions: - Do I need to be a musician to mix a music? Although it certainly helps, you don't need to know how to play any instrument. - I don't have monitors or an acoustically treated room, can I learn anyway? For sure yes. You can use headphone and simple speakers like the one from your notebook, for example. Once you'll understand the techniques and develop your hearing, you move to the next level. - Which software (DAW) should I use? If you're starting now, I recommend Reaper or Logic Pro. If you're already experienced, any DAW of your preference. Book now and start learning from beginner to Pro the art of mixing.

Are you tired of reading tabs yet not being able to play your favorite songs on the guitar? Are you tired of putting a lot of effort into practice but still not meeting your guitar goals? Or do you just want to pick up a few songs on the guitar to impress your friends/colleagues without the hassle of committing to some serious music theory? If your answers to all of this are a resounding YES! then congratulations, you're in the right place. I believe the biggest lesson I can share with you about playing the guitar is: practice! and inspiration. Practise is critical, and you can't practice if you're uninspired. Do you want to: a. Learn easy songs and entertain people? b. Play live or record? c. Move on quickly to an electric guitar? d. Get the blues/country vibes? e. Get the flamenco (Phrygian) vibes? f. Play percussive guitar? g. Play instrumental guitar (no singing)? h. Cover pop songs? i. Compose?!?!?!? On the very first meeting, we will discuss your desired guitar goals and realize if I'd be able to help you with them. If you do choose to go ahead with me for guitar classes, the curriculum will look something like this: 1. Music appreciation (this is important for being inspired! the more videos you watch the better! I have playlists you can follow for now and develop your own taste in guitar playing). 2. Finding your way on the fretboard. 3. Finger exercises. 4. Fingerstyle picking/ plucking (depending on the genres that inspire you the most now). 5. Scales, arpeggios, chords, and chord families. 6. Cover songs. 7. Music theory. 8. Keeping up with the tempo (not Kardashians 😛 ) 9. Improvisation and play by ear (or eyes) In professional classes, they'll teach you tempo way earlier but I think it kills the mood for learning. Hence, that is something I intend to cover later. Realistically, we can partially complete steps 1 through 6. Steps 7, 8, and 9 will indeed take a lot of time. So, what are you waiting for? If you like my vibe and have a passion for music, feel free to join my classes! Happy guitaring!
