Trusted teacher: I am a 28-year old composer, electric guitarist and songwriter based in Den Haag, teaching composition, music theory, and score writing. I teach in English or in Greek. I am half Greek and half Scottish and I have been living in the Netherlands for the last 4 years. I offer lessons in all styles, to all age groups, and for any experience level (ranging from students who want to learn how to read and write music to create their first score, up to more experienced composers who are looking for fresh ideas and improving their skills to really make their music shine, or who are looking for help polishing their composition portfolio for entrance exams). Face to face lessons are preferable, but I also teach online. I am a patient and open minded teacher, and my desire is to help you learn what you want to learn, and make sure you enjoy and take pride in your music, explore a breadth of musical ideas that can inform your work, learn to express your musical ideas as best as possible and nurture your curiosity and excitement about the world of music creation ! My Credentials: I hold a Bachelors of Music degree from Birmingham Conservatoire (UK), and a Masters of Music from The Hague Royal Conservatory. My compositions have been performed in venues such as The Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam), TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht), Korzo Theatre (Den Haag), Casa de Musica (Porto), Onassis Stegi (Athens) and at music festivals including Music in PyeongChang (South Korea), Tectonics Athens (Greece), Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Netherlands). My experience as a performer range from classical guitar studies, to playing electric guitar in rock bands, as well as experience as an improviser, performer of notated contemporary classical compositions, creator and performer of ambient and electronic music. I also am very experienced in ambient and electronic-influenced guitar music, which has given me an in depth knowledge also of the guitar in combination with technology such as guitar effects, computer software and multichannel setups which expand the audio palette of the guitar. I have written songs, I have written orchestra pieces, I have worked as a DIY home producer, I have released albums, and I've performed in concert halls, rock venues, squats and festivals. I even some experience in beat-making. My music has been performed in and has taken me to several countries, including Portugal, The Czech Republic, The U.S.A., Canada, Korea, Greece, The U.K., The Netherlands. My Teaching style: My emphasis is to teach you based on your interests and your needs. The lessons are based around each individual student. You bring me the music you are creating and the skills you want to develop as a composer, and I build my lessons around that. My primary goal is help you develop your voice as a composer, so the starting point for our lessons will always be your music. My aim is always to help you find what the heart of your composition is about, and help you to bring this out and really make it shine. To help illustrate ideas about topics we discuss I will bring examples that can help inform the music you are creating, we will explore ideas of arrangement, orchestration, rehearsal leading and / or production to help flesh out your music, as well as music theory and using scores of other composers.

Bleys - Groningen23€
Trusted teacher: I am a guitar teacher from Edinburgh, Scotland with a strong focus on developing practical musicianship and enjoyment of playing the guitar. I can help you from the beginner level into finding your own style and relationship to music. The lessons heavily revolve around the musical areas that you are interested in, we will do things like look at your favourite guitarists and songs, breaking them down into their fundamental parts, and developing the class on how to understand what you are playing. I have many years experience playing in live bands and can help you in many ways with developing your playing for groups and performances. I can also help with the recording aspect of playing music, both solo and with groups. Here are some of the genres that I love to teach: Alternative and Classic Rock Acoustic instrumental, Singer-songwriter, open-tunings Metal and Experimental Genres Classical and Spanish Classical Ambient and Psychedelic with effects pedals Playing with Fretless/ 7 & 8 string guitar I like our lessons to be structured and goal orientated, we often have an online lesson diary together where I keep notes of everything we are doing in the lessons, where you can add your own notes and things you would like to work on. I find this is very useful to keep you progressing with the guitar at a good pace. I have a strong background in music theory, and if the student wishes, this can be an integral part of the lessons. I personally like to teach theory through the songs you have chosen to learn, analysing what we are playing and through this developing your own intuitive theory understanding, within relation to your chosen genres of music. Although I am perfectly aware that many students do not feel connected with learning music theory, in which case we can focus more purely on the playing and performance aspects. I have been teaching the guitar for several years and it is a true passion in my life. Little makes me happier than to see my students progressing towards their musical goals and developing their own artistry. Please just ask for more information :)

Seen Tung - Amsterdam45€
Trusted teacher: Hello, this is Seen! I am a pianist, composer and arranger from Hong Kong, currently studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I am offering piano and music theory lessons tailored to your needs and wishes. Perhaps you are an enthusiastic adult beginner, or you want to pick it up again after not touching the instrument for some time? Or perhaps you are looking for a teacher for your child? I have been giving music lessons for the past 9 years to students at different levels aging from 5 to 60. I understand that we all approach music in various ways and everyone needs different styles of guidance. I am looking forward to getting to know you and experiment with how I can help you along the way. Perhaps you want to play pieces from the classical repertoire? Or perhaps you want to acquire the skill of learning your favourite pop songs by ear, or learn to read lead sheets and chord symbols? Perhaps you want to learn to accompany yourself singing? Perhaps you want to learn improvisation over chord progressions? As a musician grew up with classical music training and later moved on to explore jazz and pop, I enjoy helping you to deepen your understanding about different styles and to have fun with playing! Perhaps you’ve always wanted to improve your piano technique, but get turned off by studies and scale practice? Perhaps you wish to acquire a stronger sense of rhythm or a more sophisticated control of sound? In my experience, advanced technique comes along with a tension-free body and mental space, and we can work on that together. I also find creating unique musical exercises that adapts to students’ needs makes the learning process more enjoyable. Perhaps you would love to integrate music into your daily life, but find it challenging to keep the momentum and interest in a long term? I try to structure our lessons so that students can see steady progress. I also understand that incorporating a habit can be a tricky part, so we can also develop study and practice plans together and explore ways to make your practice time more efficient. Perhaps you not only want to learn the instrument, but are also interested about the theories behind the music? Perhaps you want to learn some basic arranging skills and write for an ensemble that you play with? Perhaps you want to try composing your own music? As a composer and arranger, I would also love to share my experience on these subjects with you. Music is an enormous universe and there are always new territories to explore. I’m still a student on this journey, and I’m more than excited to share my experience and accompany you on your way!

Trusted teacher: A composition class that is tailored to your musical needs! This class main purpose is to help you find your own musical language and voice. Either you are a complete beginner in music or a highly skilled musician, this class is perfect for you, because it is being adjusted for you, by you. The most important question that you will be asked in this class is ''Why?''. In this class you will learn to have the biggest level of control that you can have over your musical product, sound and decisions, so that you are always sure that your musical vision is being well translated and transmitted. In this class we are going to work with: 1) Compositional techniques --- Every lesson we are going to discuss about how do you think your piece should be, and about what does your piece need. For that you will need your intuition but also your ''tools'', and those are your compositional techniques. We are going to see them in other pieces and learn how to use them through your own musical vision. 2) Instrumentation --- To write acoutic music you need your ''arsenal'' and those are the instruments that you might use. In this class we will learn the categories, material, sound, structure and combinations of every instrument. We will learn together how each instrument works and how to notate it on paper, so that you are never limited by the nature of the instrument, but instead you are going to be able to bring out 100% of your music. 3) Arranging --- To make sure that you keep your instrumentation skills, we need to put them to use, not only in your music, but also in an arrangement. Together we are going to work on changing the instrumentation in piece and making arrangements of them so that you have a better nderstanding on how the instrumentation of a piece affects directly the compositional proscess and purpose of a piece of music, but also what are the differences between the sound of each instrument while combining them. Also, this will help you make decisions about the result of the arrangement, do you want it to be true to the original, or not? If not, why, and how do you do that? 4) Music History --- Together we will listen to music and learn some basic music history so that you have a better understanding of the different styles, structures and aspects of music, from the Byzantium and Middle ages music, all the way to the music of today. 5) Improvisation --- If you are also an instrumental player, will work also with improvisation. With improvisation you can strengthen your compositional skills, by understanding your intuition, developing your ear, understanding your taste and learning to work with few material, but the most important thing is to learn how to listen and play music with others, because by learning that, you also learn how to communicate and listen all these musical ideas that you have within you before writting (playing) them, controling them and understanding what is needed and what is not in your music. 6) Film scoring --- If you are interested, in this lesson we will also learn how to adapt music to screen. We will learn how to spot the tempo, feeling and texture of a scene but also how to enhance the message of a movie/game/scene/theatre play/documentary with our music. Furthermore will will learn how to use software for midi composition, and VST instruments 7) Electroacoustic composition and sound design --- If you are also interested in electroacoustic music, in this lesson we will learn how to work with sound editting, mixing, design and engineering. We will listen and learn a lot of electroacoustic compositional tecniques to help you explore, understand and work with a complete different musical world. Our goal is to grow your musical perception and horizon. 8) Music notation and software --- For us composers to write our music sometimes we need to use some programs that help us. In the lesson we will learn how to use programs like that, like Musescore, Sibelius, Reaper etc.

Experimentation is an inherent characteristic of electronic music. Nowadays, composing music using technology creates endless creative possibilities that demand the musician/composer to adapt to numerous technical and artistic challenges. Do you like experimenting with sound and making music that does not clearly belong to a particular genre or style? Interested in bringing a fresh perspective and out-of-the-box thinking to your music production? Are you just starting out in electronic music composition and wondering how to develop your own style? This course is just what you need. In this class, you will learn: - how to transform sound using analogue and digital techniques. - how to create sound structures and organise them in a DAW enviroment to compose a piece of music. - how to record, edit and mix sounds using both conventional and experimental techniques. - how to use improvisation in both the context of live performance and composition. - about the theory and practice of free improvisation. - about the history and origins of electronic music and how it affected the music we listen today. - how to document and communicate procedures related to your artistic practice. - how to create an artistic portfolio. Aspiring musicians with a background in any genre can take advantage of this course. A formal education in music or experience with electronic music composition are not required to follow. However, you should be unafraid of experimenting with sound and music technology! Each class is customized to meet the needs of the individual student in an innovative and flexible way! The course can also serve as a preparation for applying to several Dutch educational programmes related to electronic music composition (Institute of Sonology, HKU, ArtEZ, etc.). The class is focused on small assignments that help the student develop a sense of orientation and set goals. Recording, editing, and mixing will be done via the DAW "Reaper," but we can switch to your preferred software at any time. We will use the first lesson to discuss your background, interests, and motivations in order to develop a course structure that is tailored to your needs.

Piano lessons, Music Theory for children and adults (The Hague)
João
I have been taking private lessons from Joao for more than 6 months and I am completely thrilled with it! Although I am a beginner in piano, I can see that Joao is very knowledgeable in his field. What I like most is that he utilizes technology very effectively to help me understand tricky theoretical concepts. He also prepares tailored exercises for me, which makes me feel very valued. He really puts his time in preparing homeworks and supplementary documents even before and after the class to be sure that I understand what he is teaching. Joao is also quite responsive. He is very flexible in terms of the course content and willing to adapt to my changing needs over time. Still, as a teacher, he keeps in mind what foundations I need to build and he does not lose track of what I want as an ultimate goal, so he comes with a structured curriculum that I realize over time. I can only recommend Joao if you are looking for a dedicated piano teacher who loves what he does.

Sofia
Sofia is a great teacher! I picked up piano as an adult during the lockdown and decided to get a teacher to ensure that I was learning things correctly. Sofia is very patient, selects great pieces to play to keep me challenged and interested, gives excellent feedback on how to play them well and clear explanations on music theory. I really look forward to our lessons each week and would 100% recommend Sofia if you are considering getting piano lessons.
