In this class, we will be exploring music by learning your favorite songs from any genre you enjoy. I will personalize the lessons to your needs and make sure we cover all the fundamentals that will set you on the right track! I will teach you how to: - learn songs by ear, (pop, jazz r&b, funk, fusion, hip-hop, and whatever you like honestly) - improvise, - compose, - understand music theory (harmony, rhythm, scales, progressions, sight-reading etc.) - produce and sound design in any DAW About me: Education: I started playing music at 7 years old, went through 12 years of music school, and then moved to Amsterdam and spent 4 years learning jazz guitar at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I frequently play with various bands ranging from Pop and Funk to Jazz Fusion and even Techno. Teaching style: I’m open-minded and straightforward, and I focus on giving my students the tools and basics they need to learn and explore on their own.

My name is Ben (26), and I'm a certified drum teacher with about 15 years of experience behind the kit. Previously I have studied jazz drums at Kunstuniversitat of Graz. Currently I'm teaching at multiple institutions in Amsterdam such as: Lucky Beat Music Club, United Pop, British School of Amsterdam. My classes take place on my boathouse at Weesperzijde, however if you wish I can also come to your place. I can guarantee you that after your first lesson you already will be able to play a simple rock beat! I can teach you the following: - Groove - Speed & Stamina - Technique - Music Theory - Music Production (Beat making) in Ableton - Controlling dynamics - DJing - Body Percussion - Reading music - Composition And much more... When it comes to teaching, creative lessons and positive energy are my pillars. I do approach every student differently, making sure I am able to show them what is possible on the instrument. I certainly believe that everyone is capable of learning to play the very basics after a short period of time. I do think that since drumming goes back all the way to the primal ages, we all have the drummer inside us, it just hasn't awakened yet. I want to be that person who will awake the drummer inside of who is wanting to learn. I feel fortunate that I'm able to do what I've studied and get to live my passion. There is nothing better than to see a student improve, develop and see when they finally start to "get it".

This class is for musicians interested to develop their work with electronics by using the computer. With the softwares Max/MSP or Ableton Live I can give you the tools to program your own electronic tracks and effects for live playing of for editing them after recording your music.

With more than 100 releases to my name, including 2 top-10 hits in England, you can contact me if you want to learn how to make music yourself with your computer, phone or tablet. But more experienced producers, DJs and instrumentalists who want to further develop their production skills can also contact me. Because I myself have a background as a singer and songwriter and not as a DJ, I can also help you further in the field of lyrics, vocal production, arranging and song structure. If it is appreciated to keep 1,5 meters away, this is possible. One of my specialties is synthesis and sound design, or making your own unique sounds. My collection of vintage equipment is at our disposal for this, including a large Modular system. But of course you can also go in all directions without hardware. virtual instruments or the new free virtual modular synthesizer "VCV Rack". Questions I often got in interviews are "How do I start a track", "how do you get inspiration" and of course: "How do I finish a track". Thanks to my many years of experience, these are all things that I can help you on your way. The lessons are also suitable for instrumentalists who want to learn about recording or electronically accompanying their instrument, but also for DJs who would like to make their own productions. To start with, I look at what is possible with the equipment that you already have available, and can give advice if you want to expand your setup (possibly with hardware).

I can help out beginner to intermediate producers. We can start all the way from the beginning or focus on specific topics that you would have questions about. I can teach you to produce tracks in an intuitive way without the use of music theory but can also incorporate the basics of music theory in the lessons. I’m specialised in sound design, playing live sets on stage and developing the identity of artists. It helps me to get intermediates to the next level. When you want to start with music production you need to work in a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). I work mainly with Ableton because it's very intuitive and "jammable". It's a great DAW to work in, especially for beginners. Preferably my lessons will be focused on Ableton but I can also work in other DAW's because the fundamentals are mostly the same in all of them. The following aspects will be covered in Ableton Live: 1. The Basics (overview of the layout) 2. Arrangement, session and clip view 3. Working with sequencers and MIDI 4. Recording and routing 5.
