A little about me: I hold both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music Education from Near East University, where I graduated as the top of my class. I later completed a second Master’s in Jazz & Pop Vocal Performance at ArtEZ Conservatory in The Netherlands. In January 2025, I won the GRAND PRIX award with my original song CHAINS at The World Association of Festivals (WAF) music contest. In 2024, I performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands, won first prize with my original at the Meikin Asia International Music Competition, and debuted my song with the Orchestra of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku in 2023. I wrote and produced The Voice of the Unseen, the original soundtrack for The Divided Island, an award-winning documentary acclaimed for its "Powerful Message for Peace" and "Best Cinematography" at the Cyprus International Film Festival in 2024 and set to be streamed on Netflix in 2025. My teaching style is a blend of solid academic knowledge and a relaxed, supportive vibe where creativity and curiosity are always welcome. I’m Elena, I’m Italian and I’m an opera singer, currently actively performing in the contemporary field :) On top of my artistic career, which is now 20+ years old, I have 10 years of solid everyday experience in the musical teaching field, with particular regards for online teaching. My specialties are: teaching opera voice and kids’ vocality. For both of these, any level, even absolute beginner is 100% welcome! I’ve been training children and teens ever since I graduated from my position at La Scala children choir at 18 years old. I love working with kids, and it warms my heart to think of how many little faces I have already had the privilege of meeting thanks to this career. I have helped so many access to the children choirs of their respective cities, and with so many many others I have simply participated in their musical learning journey, which makes me equally proud and happy. Teaching adults is a completely different matter, of course, but it’s probably even more thrilling to me because it allows me to spend the day navigating the fascinating routes of lyrical singing technique. I know how opera studies can be confusing - to say the least; I try my best to represent a safe place for anybody who wants to explore this ancient form of art, as well as to clarify its key points and guide my students to building a correct repertoire. Not just a singing teacher, but by the way also the best vocal coach you can get hold of at this moment and in this area of the Netherlands (so take your chance...;-)). For about 3 years I had a serious problem with my vocal chords (incomplete closure) and a dislocated larynx. I started to be in contact with Stefano by chance asking him to show me some (singing) exercises additionally to my treatment at the ENT-department of Martini Ziekenhuis Groningen as well as an ongoing therapy at a professional trained speech therapist. To cut a long story short: Within a couple of lessons and dedicated exercises he succeeded in re-positioning my larynx and got rid of my incomplete vocal cords closure, meanwhile the medical specialists had decided that the only cure could possibly be an operation... As a ‘side-effect’ I am now able to sing and control my voice like I have never been able before and could never have imagined that this was possible to achieve by just some simple but individually chosen exercises and practice. Marloes does an excellent job of understanding the student's needs and goals. Always attentive during the lessons, she provides clear/targeted feedback on areas of improvement and actively listens to your singing. Most importantly, she creates a comfortable/safe environment to experiment with your voice. As a beginner in singing, I highly recommend anyone who wants to get started singing to take lessons with her!
