I am a professional classical pianist, accompanist, singer, and composer with a Bachelor's Degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and a Master's Degree at the Royal Conservatorium in the Hague. For 6 years now, I have been teaching students of all levels between 5 and 60 years old. Lessons are based on your level, interests, and goals. Together we can find out if you are keener on classical repertoire, or if you want to play your favorite pop-music, some beautiful soundtrack from a movie you like or compose/improvise new pieces. With my experience in teaching diverse genres, I will help you explore the music that you like. The central pillars I always work with are technique and creativity, which are much more connected than you would expect! While we advance, I also introduce the basics (or more deeply, if you are interested) of music theory to learn to communicate with each other in musical terms (chords, keys, score reading, etc.). And above all, the goal is to enjoy and have fun!

I am Guitar teacher with a Masters’ Level degree in music, I believe music is a voice and everyone can be familiar with from amateurs to professionals. My aim is guide the students to be together with music and start to discover it through listening and playing, and particularly be interactive with it. I also believe that music can be a tool useful to communicate, socialize and develop further as humans which nowadays is getting harder.

My name is Carla Peña and I come from Barcelona. Since I was a child, music has played an important role in my life. I started learning music when I was 4 years old and cello when at the age of 6. I discovered the love for music and that is what I share with my students. I have experience teaching cellists of all levels and ages. If you are in The Hague area and you want to learn the cello or improve your playing, you are welcome to do lessons with me! I adapt to the needs and the wishes of the pupil, creating a personal and flexible plan, depending on your time and level. Even though I am specialized in classical music, I can teach different styles from classical to jazz, to film music, pop, … ABOUT ME: I studied my Bachelor in Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona, with professor Amparo Lacruz. Then, I decided to continue my studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the class of Michel Strauss and Jan-Ype Nota. During my studies in The Hague, I did a teaching internship at the Royal Conservatory as a part of their Minor in Music Education. I also taught in several Music Schools during my studies in Spain. Currently, I teach private students in The Hague. I play regularly in two chamber music ensembles: Trio Jakob and Azalaïs Quartet. APPROACH: It is very important to share music with other people in order to develop as a musician. That is why I love teaching. I learn from my students as much as they learn from me. In order to learn the technique in an organized way, I use cello methods, choosing the method that adapts better to the needs of the student. I combine it with nice songs in different styles, depending on the taste of the student, from classical to jazz, film music, pop, etc. Playing together is an essential part of enjoying music. Therefore, the last part of the lesson always consists of playing cello duets and having fun!
