Hi! I'm Tom, a native French speaker and French-English law student at University College Dublin (UCD), where I am completing a French-English double degree in Law. I offer French grinds and personalised French lessons in Dublin, particularly around UCD, Blackrock, Stillorgan, Booterstown and Dún Laoghaire, as well as online. Whether you are preparing for the Leaving Certificate French exam, studying French at Junior Cycle or university level, looking to improve your spoken French, or simply wanting to become more confident in the language, I adapt every lesson to your level and goals. 📚 WHAT I CAN HELP YOU WITH • Leaving Certificate French & exam preparation • Junior Cycle French • French grinds and homework support • French grammar and vocabulary • French speaking & conversation • Pronunciation and fluency • Reading and written expression • Listening and comprehension • University-level French • French for academic and professional purposes • French legal terminology for students interested in Law • French for beginners • General French improvement 👨‍🏫 MY APPROACH TO TEACHING FRENCH I believe that learning a language should be structured, practical and engaging, but also flexible. I have personally experienced what it is like to learn and use a new language on a daily basis at home. This taught me that having a clear structure and objective for each lesson is important, but that flexibility and adaptation are just as essential. I therefore give every lesson a clear structure while adapting the content and pace to the individual student. If you are struggling with grammar, we can focus on grammar. If you need to become more confident speaking French, we can focus on conversation. If you are preparing for the Leaving Certificate, we can work specifically on the skills required for your exam. For exam preparation, lessons can include grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, listening, written expression and oral practice. As a native French speaker studying in an English-speaking university environment, I can also explain difficult French concepts clearly in English whenever necessary. 🎓 WHY CHOOSE ME AS YOUR FRENCH TUTOR? • Native French speaker • Fluent in English • French-English double degree student • Law student at University College Dublin (UCD) • Very strong academic background • Experience working with children and teenagers • Friendly, patient and organised • Lessons fully adapted to your individual needs I also work every summer at a YMCA summer camp in the United States, where I work with children and teenagers of different ages. Working with young people is therefore something I am very comfortable with — and, more importantly, something I genuinely enjoy. I have experience creating a positive and supportive environment where children and teenagers can feel comfortable, build confidence and develop new skills. 📍 FRENCH LESSONS IN DUBLIN, BLACKROCK & ONLINE I am based around UCD and Blackrock and offer in-person French lessons in the surrounding areas, as well as online lessons. I can therefore offer French tutoring around: UCD • Blackrock • Booterstown • Stillorgan • Dún Laoghaire • Monkstown Whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for the Leaving Certificate French exam, looking for French grinds, helping your child improve their French at school, or simply wanting to speak French with greater confidence, I would be happy to help. SO LET'S IMPROVE YOUR FRENCH Every student has different goals, strengths and difficulties. My aim is to make French lessons useful, enjoyable and genuinely tailored to you. Send me a message with your age, current French level and what you would like to improve, and we can discuss the best approach for your lessons.

I am a trained French teacher with a degree in linguistics. I have been teaching since 2012 and I support candidates in improving their French and preparing for official exams. The preparation is fully tailored to your level, the date of your exam and the skills you need to strengthen. We are working on the different challenges: - listening comprehension; - understanding of written texts; - written production; - oral production. The goal is not only to improve your French, but also to understand what examiners expect and to learn how to respond effectively to exam instructions. Depending on your needs, we can work on methodology, organization of ideas, argumentation, grammar, vocabulary, time management and correction of written or oral productions. Exercises and practice topics may be offered between lessons to track your progress and identify areas that require more work. As the exam approaches, we can also carry out simulations under conditions close to the real test, particularly for oral production. Before we begin, simply tell me the diploma and level you are preparing for, the scheduled date of the exam, and the difficulties you wish to work on as a priority.

For the past two decades, I've had the privilege of tutoring in both French and English. My students have ranged in age, background, and origin, spanning children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even seniors aged 85 and above. You might wonder why I teach both languages. Well, I am bilingual, with American and Swiss/French roots, and I currently reside in Ireland. This unique blend of experiences equips me with a strong and relevant teaching approach. I possess an intimate understanding of both cultures, enabling me to tailor my classes to the specific needs of my students. My teaching journey began during my time studying social work in French-speaking Switzerland. I started offering private French and English lessons to supplement my income, and I quickly discovered my passion for it. Even after graduating and embarking on a full-time career, I couldn't bear to give up this rewarding activity. I cherished the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals and assist them in achieving their language goals. In my teaching methodology, interactivity takes center stage. I employ a variety of engaging learning tools, including photos, newspaper articles, music, videos, and more. My approach is highly adaptable, with a focus on addressing each student's unique priorities. Some seek to refine their pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary, while others require assistance with presentations or speeches for school or work. Some simply aspire to acquire a new language to enrich their general knowledge. I also specialize in teaching younger children, a testament to my educational background and experience. What you will gain from my courses extends beyond impeccable pronunciation and enhanced vocabulary and grammar. You'll also acquire a profound understanding of the culture associated with each language. When speaking a language, it's essential to appreciate the lifestyle, traditions, and heritage of the nations where it thrives. French and English are spoken as primary languages in numerous countries worldwide, each with its own unique accent and cultural nuances. The learning process is limitless! In addition to my language instruction, I'm a genealogist and host spiritual (non-religious) seminars in the beautiful West of Ireland. My passion for vegetarian and vegan cuisine adds a flavorful dimension to my life. Furthermore, I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and have operated a private "Before & Afterschool" facility along with Summer Camps catering to children aged 4 to 12 for many years. I am genuinely excited about the prospect of meeting and working with you!
