Would you like to discover the fascinating world of clarinet? One of my priorities as a musician is the sound. I believe that with a beautiful and personal sound you are able at every level to transmit emotion and meaning, it doesn’t matter the difficulty or the level. So I try to focus first on awareness of what’s beautiful for the student and what’s not. Then through technique and repertoire (suggestions of the student or suggestions of mine that can help to grow the student curiosity), we develop the student knowledge. Always helping the student to understand -depending on his/her the theoretical level- what we are doing, putting together music and theory. And giving tools to expand the border, at all levels. I have knowledge and experience in Jazz, Classical, Klezmer, Choro Music and Improvisation. You just need a precious element! • Music Theory I focus on having a good basics, spending as much as we need to understand every single thing, because then with times it becomes more easy. I try to help the student simplifying the material because then, we only with ourselves with a good procedure of the basics to solve any problem. Only with one lesson, you will understand what I mean. I have experience in preparing students for exams, the ones for the semester as well as any official exam; doesn't matter if you have an intermediate theory level and you want to improve, or if you would like to be stronger solidifying the knowledge you have (which is always the best option), or if you don’t know anything about notes and music concepts and you would like to be familiar with them. At the age of fourteen, I picked up a guitar, and two decades later, it feels like an extension of my soul. With over twenty years of experience strumming and shaping melodies, I’ve spent eleven of those years sharing my passion as a private instructor and performer. My musical journey has led me to teach a diverse range of students—from seven-year-olds to adults—covering everything from the pop and blues to the soulful depths of rock, jazz, funk, and folk. During my studies at the Royal Conservatory I learned the how work with the basics of the Kodaly solmisation system and In addition I taught ensemble lessons at the International School of The Hague. Further on, I got the opportunity to develop my knowledge on music theory, and gained experience with rhythmic, melodic solfège and sightreading. I had previously played some classical for a few years, but was looking to learn jazz piano and improvisation as well. For this David is ideal, as he studied both as a classical and jazz musician, and has a deep understanding of each. About half the lessons we focus on jazz improvisation. During the lessons I improvise over a few songs, and each session he gives feedback, while adding a new layer of difficulty. We've also worked a lot on rhythm, which has really helped me bridge the gap between classical and jazz. We spent a few lessons on classical pieces as well, to refine technique and musicality. My playing feels much more fluid and musical already, and he's really helpful/knowledgeable with the details. Also, on the weeks where I did have not had much time to practice, we do a more (jazz) theory oriented lesson, which has also helped alot with my improvisation. Overall, I only have positive things to say about the lessons! David is a very easy-going teacher, and from the first lesson I felt very comfortable asking him questions. He's very versatile as well, and easily adapts the lesson according to what suits us best that week.

I have done already more than 5 lessons with Goncalo and I can highly reccomend him. He is very kind and patience, but mostly I great teacher. I was a beginner trying to learn playing guitar via internet without any success. But since I started taking lessons with Goncalo I improved quickly my skills. what we do during the lessons is playing together a song of my choice, first he shows me what the accords are and then we play :)
